You are so welcome and the church and windows were amazing, although, I got the shock of my life when the old clock came back to live to strike 12.00! Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

I am happy that Mrs Metalman is cleared. And it's not that hard to avoid gluten. Well worth if that mean better health.
Hope you have an awesome weekend together.
And I love old, historic places. Nothing directly beat that in modern time.
Plus I love sounds from water.
Here is no Spring signs yet. Hopefully we will get it soon.
    Stay safe and cheers 💞

Thank you and we were both so relieved when all the tests came back and the none gluten diet was the only thing she had to worry about. We had a wonder Spring day yesterday in the sun but it is back to the mist and rain today :o(. Thanks so much for watching, cheers Alan

There used to be a lot more of the castle but when you walk around the village of Bowes, all the houses are built with stone, so you can see when all the outer walls went lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Hi Alan, a lovely Church and so light inside. Love the stain glass windows. The sound of the clock ticking is something I love. Bowes Castle was stunning. Yes amazing that King John had been standing where you were. Shame it became into disrepair. It must have been very grande back in the day. So pleased Mrs Metalman has the all clear and hope you have had a wonderful weekend. Lovely views of the Castle. The river looked beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. Take care x Julie and Tony x

Hi Alan- Great to visit the old church with you! So nice that it is open to the public to stop in, look around and have a few moments. It’s a wonderful old building with a great outside too. I loved seeing around the old castle ruins too, and hearing about the history, defensive importance, and who visited there. The walls are so thick! You’re right, once you’re there walking around and seeing the location in the landscape, history really starts to come alive and make more sense. So thankful to hear Mrs. Metalman is doing well and has been cleared. Hope you both have a lovely weekend away! 😄👍👍🌷💕

    Good morning Alan
I agree that it is pleasure taking advantage of your lens to explore inside of the church. I always like specious high vaulted ceiling and of course the stained glass windows that flatter my eyes by the natural sunlight. I am speechless to learn about this old clock 1:56 it is not like an old Grandfather's Clock we see in the US...I assume the sound of the beats suggest it is still working. I am grateful to learn this ruin, Bowes Castle, still stands proudly and its bitter history. That makes me ponder how young country the America is. OMGoodness, I thank you for your time-consuming history research and wow your memories...you document it all straight at your camera right at site. I send my standing ovation to you, Alan.
Outstanding work and I thank YOU.
I hope Mrs. Metalman does not have any spring allergy...I did not have any, but I seem to develop allergy, dry and watery eyes,,itching...haha awful.

Oh that clock is still working alright, it gave me the shock of my life when it sprang into action and started to chime 12.00 - yikes! Pollen and dust affect her breathing which is why she cannot climb anymore, which is such a shame, as I used to so enjoy us climbing together when she was younger. Appreciate you stopping by, cheers Alan

Hi Alan that 12th century St Giles church was really lovely, we do love visiting old churches and seeing stained glass windows and wow the clock was old!
That's a beautiful area and good to see the castle ruins near the Roman road, definitely a very strategic place for the Roman fort they had there. Agree with you about actually being at these historic sites, amazing. Loved the rushing river 😃That's great that you have got a drone, will be good to see the footage 🙂
Hope Mrs M is OK and gets sorted on the gluten free diet 🙏

3 locations in one video, nice one Alan. When the weather is a bit warmer I do think I'm going to have to get out with the camera and photograph all these water falls in the Teesdale area, Mill Gill Falls just got added to the list. Bowes Castle, again worth a visit too and nice village church. Being Gluten Free is more an inconvenience that anything, my two stepsons (Fenn who you have already met) were diagnosed in the last two years. I hope Mrs Metalman didn't see those Fish & Chips, although if you go to Bells in Durham (or Seaham, I think they have a couple of other shops too) they do Gluten Free Fish & chips. Andy.

I travel that A66 so often on my way down to Lincolnshire (I dare say not as often as you on your way to Cumbia 😀) but never visited Bowes ! The church is beautiful and the castle ... Gosh what a lot if history it's seen & I agree its when you visit these places that they come alive in your imagination. Didn't realise that there is a fabulous waterfall there too, looks beautiful. Problem is I'm always in a hurry when going past here either to get to Lincolnshire or back home so now one day I'll try to take the time to explore a little. I'm a little behind with viewing this video but makes me realise how quickly the seasons change with sniwdrops gone and well into daffodils. I hope Mrs Metalman is feeling better & looking forward to your next trip away 🤗

The red car was a Ford Puma Mike and as I have decided the new beast (I call all my cars The Beast), is (possibly) my last car, I went for the Toyota GR Yaris Sport, as it has a 10 year warranty with it, as long as you get it serviced ever year, which I always do. 'Looking quite old myself', well given I will be 70 next year, that is because I am old lol! Those fish n chips were the business - yum! Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Hi Alan, love these sort of videos with all the history fascinating, think i have seen this castle from the A66, lovely falls and you did get the drone then, no doubt there will be cracking views from the lakes but i tell you the steam trains make great subjects to follow, hope you are enjoying the Ullswater hotel cheers nigel

I am the same Nigel driving passed Bowes every time I go to the lakes yet this was my first ever visit and it was amazing. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Hey Alan 😊 just been catching up on videos. It’s a lovely place isn’t it. Glad the rain held off, looking forward to seeing some drone footage. Fish and chips looked great, have you ever been to the pasta shop in Darlington. Expensive but all freshly made pasta and it’s great lol

Cannot believe that is the first time I have been there, especially as I drive passed it every time I go to the lakes lol. I can confirm those fish n chips were amazing, well worth the slight detour. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
