A superb walk to Lingmoor Fell, starting at the National Trust car park in Elterwater. Only the fourth new Wainwright I have completed this year but what a stunning hike it turned out to be, amazing views and glorious weather. Despite an initial wrong turning, I was soon back on the correct path, heading up through the woods and passing the quarry, on the way to the summit. After an extended break and lunch on the summit, I mention the passing of a lovely lady, Lynne Taylor, who was a real supporter of my channel but had sadly lost a battle with breast cancer the previous day, heart-breaking news but I was determined to dedicate this video to her and make it a real celebration of her life.

This is one of our favourite fells in the lakes! A little gem 💎. We have hiked up several times over the years while staying in the beautiful langdale area. Even went up in the snow one year, which was amazing! You got a pretty perfect day for your summit mind, blue skies, a rare sight this summer, even if it was only 12 degrees 🌞. Gorgeous views and great drone shots!👌. What a beautiful tribute to Lynne, a special lady, and a nice way to remember your friend, every time you go up Lingmoor 🙏. You are so right, health is the most precious thing in the world, we never take being able to visit places like this under our own steam, for granted. Really enjoyed seeing this familiar fell from your perspective Alan👍
    All the best

Thanks very much for watching and I appreciate your kind words, a special fell indeed. Real pleased to get back in the Lakes again, especially on a brand new fell for me. It was a sad day but I wanted to mark it by making a happy video, one that I know Lynne would have enjoyed, cheers Alan

Hello Alan. Wow, what a difference from your 15°C and our 38°C, but it's definitely easier to hike on 15°C. I see that finally there was no wind and the drone took off successfully. I'd rather not tell you how many problems we had with the Mini due to the strong wind. I love Lynee's dedication because we all love life. Yes, we are kind of confident when we hike, but I hope I'll never need help from the Mountain Rescue Service. Take care Alan and have a nice weekend. Cheers! Sretana and Zac. ✌😁😎👍

Thanks so much for watching and the kind words, it was so sad about Lynne and I only found out the day before the hike but wanted to make a happy video for her, which she would have enjoyed. I am still nervous when I send the drone up, especially when I lose sight of it - yikes! Cheers Alan

Blue skies and bird song, no better start to the day. Challenging option, oh no, that’s enough to psych anyone out. Cutting your neighbours lawn, we need neighbours like that! Very tiny signs, easy to miss. That’s an unusual gate. 12C is a nice temperature for hiking where any ascents are nvolves. So many false summits! Cracking views from the top. Sorry to hear about Lynne, sounds like she will be remembered. Yay, lovely Sanniz, great question, we got last on our last hike, added three hours to our hike. Think it was chatting to the camera that made us go wrong! Nice pace on a lovely day like that! 👍

So nice to be back hiking in the lakes and so nice to be back onto a new summit again. Even better it was dry and warm, especially as I wanted to say something about Lynne, who was a lovely lady and a great supporter as well, such a miss to her friends and family. Wow three hours getting lost, I would be raging but laughing about it later.....a long time later! Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

@@AlanMETALMANI thought it was just 2 hours and super motivated to finish our final hike but I later found out my Casio watch had changed time zones and it was 3 hours we had lost. Oh my days we were exhausted! Probably up there with our worst getting lost in the last twenty years. Still learning, still able to make mistakes, crazy really. But I do partly blame youtube for this one, the views were so lovely when we were clearly lost I just kept cracking on…

What an epic place to hike! The views there are outstanding. I said a silent prayer for Lynn’s family. Hiking/camping in the Lake District, is on my bucket list. When I get done with this next cycle of chemo, I might just have to make that a reality.

And as usual great views. We got also max 13° for moment, but they say it should be warmer this week comming. Typically when I need to work.
Awww, I have been really lost too. Worsest when we were out riding on ours Icelandic horses. Showed up we were in totally opposite direction than I thought we was. And it took us 2 hours back on horses! 😂😂😂

Not done this one Alan......so it was of great interest for me. Very picturesque from 'the get go'......15 wainwrights in a week 😮, well done mate......................lovely scenery very early into the walk and birdsong, poncho's are very useful, you dont have to faff around with zips or the rucksack cover.......................loved that dry-stonewall meandering into the distance. Superb views for the height Alan...........A very emotional summit for you no doubt(it showed), so very sorry to hear about your friend and well done to you for a beautiful tribute speech........................great drone footage Alan(I could'nt trust myself with one, it'd bugger off ha ha)...................tell you what Alan with all the heather at the summit this would be even more spectacular in August/September with the purples....................''bum-shuffle'' often required at our age mate. Always worth popping a couple of quid in the mountain rescue box..............A thoroughly enjoyable hike Alan.............ATB.......Stu/Wendy......👍👍

Very nice tribute Alan, and celebration of a great life. We loved this fell too and you were right, we did get lost at the start too. To be fair, the OS Map doesn't show very clear routes for this fell so we have plenty of excuses. We went off route a lot more than you!! I really liked the bit past the quarry and up to the gate plus the views at the top - looking over to the Langdale Pikes is spectacular. I think you'll get your fitness back, no problem, and Andrea would definitely share Linda's concerns about lone hiking. Haha I'm pleased I'm not the only one who gets lost, especially in woods with so many distractions and criss crossing footpaths though I hadn't the excuse of filming at the same time 🤣 Those views are superb and an excellent idea to take your time making the most of the day. So sorry to hear about your friend, she sounds a lovely lady and an inspiration,Nothing more important than your health. What a nice idea to dedicate this video to her. You know I'm all about getting off on the wrong path (when it comes to hiking anyway) lol. Glad it didn't take you long to get back on the proper trail. I've also had times where I thought I recorded with the drone and it turns out I didn't! Really happy that you are able to get back outside and enjoy some of that beautiful nature. Sorry to hear about Lynne. Such a shame.

You and me both lol, could not believe I missed a turn in the first 10 minutes but it worked out fine in the end. Another excellent video Alan. One of my favourite fells, although after a minute or two I did wonder which way you were going. If you had missed the second turn off you needn't have worried, as there is a third one leading to the green gate. Now, that seat on the way up is one I no longer use. One warm June day many years ago I sat down there for a drink and to take in the view, and was immediately startled by a hissing sound. About three feet from me was a very angry looking adder, and close to my feet I spied a dead mouse. I quickly departed to let said reptile devour it's lunch. I thought your tribute to your friend Lynne was very moving. I believe that one of the reasons people watch videos such as ours is because they cannot, for whatever reason, get out on to the fells themselves. Such a shame that she was never able to join you on a walk, but seeing the views and hearing your commentary on screen is surely the next best thing. May she rest in peace. I shall think of your video and the tribute to her the next time I am on Lingmoor. Take care, Atb Eric.

Thanks very much for watching Eric and your very kind words. I was so pleased it was a clear and very scenic summit as I did want to say something about Lynne, who was such a nice lady and a real supporter of my channel, always so encouraging too, such a loss for her family. I have only ever seen one adder before and that was on the Kentmere Horseshoe last year, when I friend shouting just stopping me standing on it. To be honest, I will be happy man if I never seen another one. Cheers Alan

@@AlanMETALMAN I have to admit that hearing them is a lot more common than seeing one. That characteristic hiss from the bracken as you walk past is usually the only sign that they are there. Many years ago we encountered one on the Cheddar Gorge circular walk, (a super stroll around the top of the gorge, well worth doing if you are in Somerset). It was sitting in the bracken next door to the path and hissing loudly at everyone passing by. Was a tad scary getting past it.

Alan this was so nice that you dedicated this to Lynne and what you shared about her, so sad.
Looked like another fabulous place to hike on a nice day accompanied by the beautiful singing birds 🙂🐦 You were up early this morning :) Loved the woods where you were and the view of that working quarry and the mountains around. Wise to take it easy while recovering though and you had some nice spots here that you could stop at, must be great to be back out again and I agree about those walls, amazing being so long.
The views at the top were stunning all around and I agree with Mrs M, have to be so careful walking alone, its so true how when at a summit its so easy to take the wrong path down. Another lovely place to hike and nice that you met some people including Bob who recognised you 😃 ~ Anna 👍

Hey Alan, what a lovely tribute film for Lynne, very sad indeed but I am sure she would of loved what you produced for her and I like to think she was there with you at the top. Great to see you back in the Lakes, beautiful day and great video as always. We all get lost but we usually get there in the end. Lovely fell Alan, I haven't done it so great to see your route and will hope to do it. You were up early for this one, we have the same problem with getting to the western side of the lakes with where we live, its a long drive and at this time of year you have to set off super early to get some parking. On the question front, I am interested in what food and snacks you take for your longer walks in the lakes and I notice you dont wear a garmin/fitbit watch, do you track your walk, miles, steps, health etc on your phone at all or are you not worried about those sort of things. Thanks for sharing Alan
