Thanks for the video reviews on the Insta360 Ace (non pro version) this cam on sale in my area for $229 new and considering it as upgrade over a very old action cam. Your videos are very helpful thanks for sharing.
One area where the GoPro Hero 12 beats both the Ace, Ace Pro and Action 4 is in the tiny details in the videos. Things like the gravel in the roads or the tracks in the snow, wall surfaces. The GoPro always has clearly more detail in all the different surface textures. Werner, how long until your Osmo Pocket 3 video?

Hey! Nice video, for real! What about underwater use? Couldn’t find any case for it on Amazon DE. I’m considering Hero 11 for €299 (Ace is costing €269, but I’m afraid to buy it with a single battery and without diving case). What would you recommend?
@@notmedude Agree 100% with you. GoPro's apps are utter rubbish. Just can't see why that makes than camera itself worse than the others. Apples and oranges type thing. I wouldn't buy one over the other only because of the app ecosystem. To be honest, funky "AI stuff" on an app means people letting something else decide what looks best for their footage, not themselves. The Insta360 is a one trick pony, compared to the GoPro. Only thing it does better is filming in low light. Not even that, against the DJI OA4. What I see is every youtuber milking the Insta360 cow for views and sponsorships (present or future).

Maybe add some tiny camera or 360 camera for B roll footage but my main action cam remains the DJI Osmo action. I wonder what happened to Sony action cams. So little innovation it's kinda sad because their sensors and color science is among the best for the buck.

In comparison, I've found that GoPro cameras do not suffer from this issue, which is a major reason I prefer using them. Additionally, the GoPro subscription service, with its unlimited cloud backup and camera replacement, is an unbeatable offer that no competitors offer.
Could you elaborate on the limitations of the various modes of Ace, especially when it comes to resolution and stabilization? For example, do I get 4K in Free-form? Can I get horizon leveling in pure video or active HDR? Thanks!
Another advantage of removing the lens cover is using filters and anamorphic lenses on the gopro. And Gopro Labs basically beats every other action camera out there. 😆
Ace Pro features make no sense for me. I've returned it, because GoPro has better color profile for grading, no problem with focus and has better mount for activity.

Hi - I'm not a big fan of the helmet mount and I wouldn't use the X3 on the helmet for long - its form factor is not great for the helmet mount. The X3 is great if you mainly shoot with a pole. So choose the Ace Pro or the Action 4 - both are good. The Ace Pro has the flip screen, better low light and more features - but the Action 4 is smaller and has a wider field of view - what could be an advantage when mounted on the helmet

No, there is no additional lens for the Ace Pro - yes, the Max Lens 2 for the H12 is nice. My main issue with the H12 is the buggy software @@hjijhgh5987

Ace Pro is not an action camera. It is a vlogging camera only. It is not an entry level camera. Insta360 has already made the One RS and the Go.

GoPro is the worse choice since the DJI Osmo action arrival. The software just doesn't hold up against the like of DJI or Insta 360.
