The album that this came from, Sparkle in the Rain was an absolute banger at the time. Not one bad song on it. They just had this powerful sound. So distinctive. It's great that they are still touring. Their drummer these days is brilliant although Mel Gaynor was fantastic the way he used to beat the crap out of the drums especially on this song and Speed your love.
We have a show in Australia called Rage, which they just play music videos, on the National broadcast channel. They used to use the start of 'Speed your love to me' with Mel absolutely pounding the life out the skins. Gees, I love early Simple minds. Love Song, for that terrific synth and bass riff. Jim and Charlie are absolute legends.@@110BERLIN_
@@Alpha_7227Actually it wasn't Up On The Catwalk that Rage used, it was/is the intro from the extended version of Speed Your Love To Me - and they are still using it to this day.
Street Hassle was terrible, I think even Jim Kerr has admitted that. I don't like this remix either, things are way out of order. I've always thought that even though Catwalk is a great song it always sounded too contained in the album, and much better live.
The current line up is fucking dire. Nothing more than a tribute band now. Last few albums have been ok, not as good as they could be though if Jim and Charlie took their heads from out of their Asses and got MacNeil, Forbes and Gaynor back in the ban even if it was for one last album and tour but I would be ok if MacNeil didn’t want to tour.
by chance yesterday I discovered your channel - and can I just say - wow - amazing! I love how you focus on mixing different tracks from the best Minds periods - Empires and Dance, Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call, New Gold Dream and Sparkle in the Rain - and what awesome mixes! Keep up the brilliant work - you got a new fan here!
@miromodrusan468 Hi! Thank you for your kind words. Glad to have you "on board"! (Also, sorry in advance if you encounter any adverts here. This channel is not monetized - I have explicitly opted out, and I'm not part of the "UA-cam partner" program. If an advert is inserted, it's essentially UA-cam sabotaging this insignificant little channel.)
You make so much for all early Minds lovers (well, even if catwalk is not so early). I have listened so many times these songs but I totally rediscover them. Thanks a lot for that !

Love the remix but not the video… the song deserves better and you can improve it. The cat parts are good… that could be expanded on along with cuts from the original video. Kerr’s move in the video were iconic… every kid at our night club back in 83/84 used to copy it.. 😂
Thanks.

Oh yeah, Mel Gaynor was a total powerhouse. Incredible technique, too.

Thank you for writing that! Rediscovery is exactly the purpose of this “project”.
Magnifique beautiful
@@themindsable Merci!
Some of their early stuff like Chelsea Girl l thought was good
Thanks for these. Always felt they needed more vids of the classics.
You're welcome!
Wonderful video and song!....Thanks!
Very welcome!
I was late to the party..... This was the 1st of the Minds I heard and WOW😊, The further back I went I was mind blown ❤❤
Same here, almost. It wasn’t until that Breakfast Club tune that I became aware of the Minds.
Always liked Simple Minds. I still love cats. I approve of this collaboration.
Cats are strange and beautiful (as are early Minds).

This video is awesome. It makes me laugh, are those the latest fashions they're trying to get us to wear?
The video barely scratches the surface. There's even more bizarre fashion out there.
@@110BERLIN_ You need to do a mix of I Travel and Ghost Dancing, the latter which was a remake of the former.
My first song of them was Belfast Child
Ça me rappelle mes 17 ou 18 ans...
