My favourite sitcom: it had a gentle refined approach to comedy, no profanity or smuttiness, just genteel humour perfectly delivered by a brilliant cast. RIP Geoffrey Palmer. This is One of my Favorite Shows. I wish they would have a Reunion. It's my Good Laugh on Saturday Night at 7. I miss them as if they were extended Family. I’m afraid too many of the actors have died for there to be a reunion. So sad. This series gives me such joy. Mrs Bale with her Plantagenet face was one of my favourites! And LaL the gardener was brilliant too.
One of the BEST shows ever! ALL the actors are PERFECT!!!! Wish the show could of gone on forever! I purchased the d.v.d.'s and I've watched all of them at least 10 times so far! I love the song too! My cat comes out of a dead sleep when she hears it! I sing it to her!
Stumbled across this on You-Tube. My wife and I met in 1996 after my divorce. She is an XPAT from the UK and me from NY. My wife introduced me to ATGB episodes and we were "hooked". Much of the ATGB storyline paralells our lives. Divorced, new living arrangements, marryed off our Children, etc. February 2012 on a holiday to London after Abby Road "crossing" we set out to find the house where Lionel & Jean resided. Being successful on our quest, and after taking a few pictures, we moved on vowing NOT to divulge its location. We really miss ATGB, but equally pleased that we found each other and are very like Lionel & Jean, we did marry in 2003. (LOL) Thank you so very much!!

This is my favorite show too :) I have watched every episodes over and over again. Sad they removed it from yt but looking forward to buy the whole series.
I bought the series box set and was disappointed this video and the blooper video were not included. However, it is on the reunion DVD that contains two shows shot after the original series run and the entire DVD is worth the purchase price and I'm happy to have it. The reunions pick up when Harry/Sandy and Alistair/Judy visit Jean and Lionel. The only downside is the original Harry is replaced with another actor but the two connecting stories are wonderful additions to the series -- almost like a book's afterword.
The best romantic comedy show on television .... ever .... absolutely brilliant acting by all the lead characters, and the writing was witty and hilarious. I've probably seen the entire series a dozen times at least over the years. It never fails to lift my spirits.
@mymra My Gosh! You're all the way over in Poland. Yes, Dench does have a great laugh and youthful, too. You know how older women sometimes sound like chickens, not Judi, she's youthful.........K

This is really such a great show, it's a shame there aren't more episodes uploaded. Not only is the theme song great but the show is light-hearted and wonderful to watch.
Found this show on my local PBS a couple of years ago. I always look forward to my Saturday evening meal and this wonderful little show. Makes my saturday evening so relaxing and peaceful. I have fell in love with "As Time goes By" and all the cast members.
I loved this show.and all the actors. They were ideal together. I got so upset when our PBS removed it from their programs. I never missed a show. Now, they have some show that I don't watch. Apparently, they don't want success.

I had saved most of this show's episodes from a young man's channel (he had a complete personal collection of almost every episode, except the most recent ones maybe) . Recently discovered that all had been removed by YT. So disappointed. Wish I knew of another site that has episodes from this show. Love this show.
I remember when iij first ssd's t discovered this show, it was 2004 and I was Deployed overseas and found it on the Armed Forces Network, and I made a point of watching every episode as often as I could. Miss this show and need to find this series again.
Thanks for sharing this. It was so delightful to watch this, as it reminded me of how many times Geoffrey Palmer has made me laugh in his performances. He was the quintessential "straight man" who could foster laughter by saying nothing verbally.
I watched this for years on WTTW Chicago every Saturday at 7pm. Jean and Lionel’s love story reminded me of my parents own story of 62 years. One of the best Brit comedies ever.
I love this show, but I wish they hadn't reused actors, in speaking roles. I mean how would Lionel not remember Phillis Loader, as the woman at the front of the queue, at his book signing?

I had a habit, where I would imagine putting into practise, some of “ Jeans’” statements. Or Imagine my family responding like Jeans’s daughter. After a few months, I realised: I can’t possibly behave let alone Think like The English!!
This is just TV magic. I'm watching the reruns on Sky's Drama Channel now. (14 DEC 2017) I'm on series 5. I just wish we could go back to when this was being made. Geoffery Palmer is just wonderful. It's hard to believe he is 90 years old now.
@kaymcclain1 I think I know what you mean... but there's no such thing as too much of Judi laughing ;) well... maybe it's because I find watching rehersals quite captivating, but yes - too much could spoil the illusion forever...
I've watched the series twice. Absolutely one of my favorite shows! Finally glad to see a british based show finish a dang series for once. Bbc series are always cutting them off too soon or right in the middle. Very frustrating.
If you have ever seen or heard of it, there was another Britcom that had an ending episode, a very sad one for a comedy. The show One Foot In the Grave ran as long or longer than As Time Goes By and at least twice I thought it had ended but there was a real ending episode, so it does happen...occasionally. (Sorry, don't want to give anything away if you haven't seen that series. Not as cute/ poignant as As Time Goes By, but a real laugh riot at times. In fact, one episode was almost banned by the BBC because it made a joke of suicide.)
Really good to see this. I love Judi Dench as M in the James Bond movies. And I really love her as Jean in this show. I sure miss seeing this and the other three BritComs on Saturday nights.
