Love this old British sit-com. First saw it on TV when it was first broadcasted in 1980. I was only 19 yrs old then. I'm 57 now and still love this show. So much better than the rubbish they're putting on today in good old 2018....Yuk, millennials and snowflakes.
Have enjoyed many British sitcoms over the years.... like "As Time Goes By". First I've heard of this one and am enjoying it too. Clicked on it because of Ms Dench. The Mike character has the look and feel of a Robin Williams... a British version, of course... quite understated. (I am also USA grown.) Thanks for the upload.

I’m in Sydney Australia and I’m a big fan also🙂 I’ve been watching these again since I learnt that Judy Dench and Michael Williams were married in real life at the time that this was made. Nope, Robin Williams was much more scattered in his movements and speaking. Robin built his career imitating Johnathan Winters who was a comedian who was totally improv in his routines.

i dont really 'get' this show, but then, Im in the US. Maybe it's a UK thing. Just because they were married in real life, that doesnt make it entertaining to watch the sit com. Does it? It seems to me, in the UK if they like you, you could film a series in the loo and they would still like you. Dench's earlier work, sorry to those who worship, but it was boring. and that other sit com was even worse the one with the tall husband and two daughters.
@@wandamundy1759 Different strokes for different folks. Humor is like food: not everything tastes good to everyone. And some of it depends on how a person's palate has been brought up.
The theme tune explains it completely - they just don't know how to relate even though they care very much about each other. It's funny because we all see a bit of ourselves in this.

I was looking for full episodes of As Time Goes By but found this instead. Had never heard of this before!

No, it's not a UK thing. I'm in the US and I have always thought the show was funny and/or heart wrenching.

Just remember it from the early 80's here in Australia. Not the greatest, but reminds me of that time. I like it.

Mike overacts and Laura often obnoxiously demands to know things from Mike, but it's still a sweet show, and great slice of the period.
I guess only some can understand erudite, sophisticated, clever and subtle comedy.
