Wow man i really enjoy your stuff most helpful for figuring out things on these, i just ordered mine a few days ago, ive been using my 4wd custom built truggy with diy pvc drift tires but i wanna do drifing in my house for the winter and when im bored
Can I mod a P929 WLtoys Truck to a drift car by changing pinion gear to 15T (CS1.875 with opposite lock capability, but without Front One Way) and drift tyres?
I make all the mods that you showed :) A strong eversion of the wheels for cs is possible only on the RWD? Because the front-drive cardan does not allow the servo to be glued in the center and prevents a large eversion. So the question is. How much more interesting will be cs on rwd than cs on awd? Is alteration in the rwd really worth it to buy a new transmitter and speed controller for this? Or was it just a challenge for you and I have enough awd with cs and a slight eversion of the wheels?
CS is the term for AWD car where rear wheels are faster than front wheels. RWD is not CS because front wheels do not receive the power. As for the steering angle, any drift car benefits from more steering. It'll give you more control and easier to turn in and initiate the drift. However AWD (and CS) does not require as much steering as RWD because it has power at the front wheels as well so the car won't spin as easily. My advise is get as much steering as you can no matter what platform you are driving. AWD both 50-50 (front and rear spin the same rate) and CS (rear faster than front) can steer as much as drive shaft allow. RWD will need the steering near parallel to hold the drift.
@@BeaversHobby What do you like more, awd or rwd? What brings more pleasure for you? Before that, I never had a drift, so I wonder if it's worth going to rwd, or will it stop at CS?
@@jackshatau7525 RWD is so much fun but it can be frustrated to get the setup right, control needs a bit more practice, etc. For me I love RWD for the challenge but also AWD 50:50 for hi-speed and when I just want to relax I grab my AWD CS car to play. It's a 3-way tie. But if I can only have 1 car, I'd stick with RWD.

I just need opposite lock, can I say that CS ratio of 1.875 is sufficient? What I mean is I don't want to buy Front One Way, it's really expensive. Also, the main shaft diameter is 2mm?
Yes, 1.875 is sufficient to hold opposite lock. Front one way will help you control the car much easier. Try looking for Sinohobby, it's not that expensive, much cheaper than Kyosho's one that's what I mean. The name is a but strange but here it is. www.ebay.com/itm/Sinohobby-1-28-RC-Car-Parts-Head-Unit-For-Mini-Q-V28-005ZA/162558268541?hash=item25d93a547d:g:iW0AAOSwbtVZRrMl Main shaft is 2 mm (exact measurement is 1.9) and cut-in sections (flat section for installing pinion) are 1.4 mm. Drift tyres are what make the car slide continuously. So you'll need to invest in a set. This one I suggest Kyosho Mini-Z AWD wheels and tyres. I got my new set include shipping from Banzaihobby.com for about 10 USD. By the way, check out my latest setup video. Hi, I was just wondering when you did this mod did you have to reposition the rear diff? If so how did you do it? Do you have a build tutorial for this mod? Thank you :-)
Tom Wright Yes, I had to mod the rear diff by pulling the bevel gears out and file the middle part down so the gear part is slimmer and can accommodate bigger rear pinion. The video is in my archive but the quality isn't that good. I'll try to salvage it and upload it somehow.
Sorry....... what I meant to say was is this mod reliable? I'm excited to try the cs drifting, you make it look so smooth and rewarding in your video's, I do have the cs kit from sinohobby which is installed in my tz4 awd version 3 I'm still waiting for the sinohobby oneway diff so I can enjoy getting to grips with cs drifting but having received my wltoys k969 yesterday I noticed that it wouldn't be easy to fit the sinohobby cs kit with the rear gearbox on this car so if you do manage to find the tutorial on this mod I'd really love to have a go at this project thanks

Thanks a lot for informative reply! Also, you videos did help me a lot! Will continue support you!
Could please tell me where u got the 15T pinion and 29T drive shaft
Banggood, and if they are out of stock just search "K989 spare part" somewhere else like Gearbest or ebay.
Thank u so much sir i was trying to get into cs sport and find something cheap, thank u
But what toy did u get the parts from
Hmmmm, so I can just take my existing 15t pinion gear, and add a 29t reduction gear from the set? Will this work? China shipping takes a while......
Yes, it will. But you have to re-position the motor (the car has adjustable motor position). Don't worry, it can take bigger gear.

Thank you so much :-) that would be very kind of you :-)
Just wondering are you still running this cs mod on your wltoys 1/28?
Yes, it's really satisfying to run CS.

What toy did you get the gear from??
From another toy car. It happens to have the same pitch.
oOBeaverzOo so what is the actual other rc
is it driftable without a gyro?
Yes, ever since I changed the ESC to a better one I have control in lower power range so I stopped using gyro.
The problem was it's too fast to drift.
sow what type of gear do you rccomend me. i have an completely stock k969. a gear with 15t or less?
As low as you can, 15T for pinion and 29T for reduction.
oOBeaverzOo do you mean the gears on the motor and driveshaft? and wich one is wich?
Motor (pinion) is 15T and the drive shaft (spur) is 29T.
