I followed the details provided and used WD40 to lube. The park brake which would not latch now functions very well. Thank for making the video

After hours of searching and trying to figure out how the parking brake should work, your video did an excellent job with all the visuals - yours was the only one that shows the actual engagement and disengagment "in action" video of the parking mechanism, and from there I was able to figure out what to do next. So, a nice thank you and if you were to be up a "buy me a coffee" or "thanks" button in your UA-cam channel, I would love to buy you a coffee or a beer!

Thank you, I just purchased a 2014 - John Deere 1025R through a private sale and must be the previous owner NEVER lubed the pivots etc. under the tractor because the parking brake LOCK just did not MOVE. The brakes worked, although I did have to adjust them, but I just could not put the parking brake on. I followed the whole parking brake system from petal to the brakes and just doused every contact point along the route with WD 40. I did find that one pivot point that is up. almost inside the tractor and got some WD 40 on it, ( and also some in my right eye that with the help of my wife we got washed out). I then went inside and drank a cup of coffee and when I got back on the tractor, THE LOCK WORKED. Thank you for putting up the video, Google for their search engine, and everyone else out there that shares tips etc.

My son and I just did as you suggested and it was a great help! Also, we needed to adjust the turnbuckle to tighten the breaks, as the tractor was rolling very slow with a larger implement, when trying to stop on hills...this is now fixed too! Thanks for the help!!!

Fantastic video! I appreciate the work you put into it. I've had this exact problem but have not lubed all the pivot points you demonstrated. I will be doing that now. Thank you, this was very helpful!

Hi Dash! The actual brake lock lifting mechanism pivot point is the one to get. The others are all connected to the brake operating foot pedal itself but still should be lubed on occasion with a dry lube.
I am ordering some genuine John deere dry lube to try out. I have no doubt it's good stuff.

Brake pedal question: I just got a 1025R. As compared to the brake pedal on my previous tractor, a Mahindra, the 1025 R pedal sits pretty high and is tough for me to get my leg up and get my foot to it. I've got some disabilities and an artificial hip. I'm wondering if there's some engineering thought to that; or, could I have someone either build me a lower pedal or some type of attachment for my pedal to get a pad lower for me to use. Thanks.

Chad, I looked at the brake pedal today with your situation in mind.
The top vertical part of the pedal arm that runs at an angle is exactly 6 inches in length.
You could easily remove the pedal/arm assembly, cut an inch (or ?) out of the 6 inch run and weld it back together, this will lower the pedal the exact amount you cut out.
It will also keep the exact angle of the OEM pedal/arm.
I checked on arm travel restrictions and there will be none.
I apologize for the late reply.
      Thank you for watching!

Thanks! At 1:43, there is a part on the left with ridges on it. What is the purpose of that part?

That is either the cruise control or brake. Since the brake is on or off, it's probably the engagement notches for cruise control which in 8 years and 700 plus hours...I've never used it.

@@pmtips4482 that makes a ton of sense. Couldn't find it on any of the brake diagrams. Thanks!
