2017 Chevy Silverado Brake Fluid (original) Testing BOILING POINT and CONDUCTIVITY
We test 8 year old original brake fluid in a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup truck. We use the very affordable Autool AS506 boiling point tester and two digital conductance testers.
The boiling point tester is nice as you can always make tests on brand new (dry) brake fluid for comparison and older previously opened containers.
Thanks for watching!

Icon and Knipex S Jaw Pliers WELD IT OR NOT?
Переглядів 1,3 тис.14 днів тому
We take a look at the popular S jaw plier type wrenches from Icon and Knipex. These are incredible pipe wrenches that just flat work! The small gap in the stamped saddle bracket that the adjuster wheel rides against, has some wondering if it should be tack welded for better support. I'm going with Germany here and their metal stamping technology combined with stress analysis software, obviously...

8th Gen Honda Civic Brake Fluid Test with BOILING POINT TESTER
Переглядів 1032 місяці тому
We use both digital conductive testers and a very affordable Autool AS506 boiling point tester on this 2008 Honda Civic. This brake fluid is 4 years old and caught us by surprise as it clearly failed even the minimum "wet" boiling point of 140 celsius (284 F). In this case, we suspect the reservoir cap to be at fault. I’m not updating my 2018. The update will put more soot into your engine via the egr. No thanks! I consider myself lucky to get a diesel with these cheats. I’M KEEPING THEM!

Here's the problem...when you get the HCU brake recall service, the bastards will do 67A. A guy just told me he went in for the HCU recall and told them NOT to do 67A and they said the dealership is mandated to do 67A. More EGR is problematic. I'm passing on 67A and the HCU as long as possible.

@ I live in Canada. The EPA has zero control up here. I’ve had my truck in and told them not to do the 67A and they didn’t. Up here dealership will even work on a deleted truck. They don’t care because there is no EPA threatening them. Only reason I don’t delete mine is I travel in the USA and if I break down a thousand miles from home, I need to be able to fix my truck. This is why I am so happy mine has the cheater software. It’s the best of both worlds. I can get my truck fixed and no soot being put into my engine from the egr.

I buy the cheap stuff at Walmart $8 for a 2.5 gal jug. Always tested with my refractometer and it always tests good. That Blue stuff is twice the money, it's all the same. They sell a lot more of the Walmart brand, so it moves off the shelf faster. Always fresh. Throw your money away on the Blue stuff if it makes you feel better.

The knob on the end is called “The knob” the other moveable part is called the “Bell”. Hauling ten or fifteen of them up a hill is called “Dam hard work”. If the log is big enough you can use two of them hooked together, this is called a “Bridle”. I’m 75 now and this job is only for the young and strong but I remember it well.

While growing up, I knew some loggers here in southern Indiana. They were sons of loggers, and about my age. They were very tough kids and nobody messed with them. When they got their drivers license they all got brand new Chevy Chevelles, Camaros, in 69 and 70. They worked hard and played hard. Everybody respected them too. Thank you for watching and sharing!

A few issues: 1) French drain is WAY too close to the foundation of the home. 2) NDS quickdrain is garbage but at least I'm glad you went with geotextile nonwoven fabric to prevent that clay soil from choking it within a few rainstorms. Still, small pipe so not a lot of air/water is going through that and since you're already wrapping the stone it doesn't make sense to add another fabric onto your pipe and impede water from entering the channel. 3) Those are some huge stones, great quality material but overkill, and throwing them under the pipe probably added unnecessary difficulty into ensuring your pipe ran down 1-2 degrees. There's no need for it, especially since you're already protecting the drain from debris with the fabric.

I haven't seen anything negative about them yet, other than people just hating on them for not being the name brand. I did switch to DelVac Extreme 15w-40, one of the few that contains 50 ppm moly. I'm guessing and hoping the noise is CP3 and rear injectors not in perfect harmony with each other. The cap on top should rotate to kind of self clean itself of dust and dirt like the old metal breather caps back in the 50s and 60s. Dad always told me to rotate a few turns on the breather caps every time we changed oil or diff fluid. You'll need to pull the diff cover to inspect for any moisture damage and rust I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

For LE duty the Truewerk would be super comfortable if getting in and out of patrol vehicles many times per shift. 1620 work pants are much more stiffer than Truewerk plus the 1620 pocket placement up front is horrible. Carhartt Steel is a hybrid pant with cordura in wear spots like knees. Duluth is hard to beat also. Right now I'm wearing the Walls Ditchdigger pants and for 40 dollars these are truly exceptional. I like them all, but Truewerk has to be worn to feel the softness and 4 way stretch material. Out of all these pants....I bought a second pair of Truewerk T2. As far as wear and tear...all are holding up super. Good luck in your LE career! Thank you for watching and commenting!

My first trigger-finger surgery went well, I’m happy to say. When my other (left) hand started triggering, the doc said no prob - we’ll have you fixed in nothing flat. When I went back for the post-op check, after one incredulous look at it, he actually put his head down on the desk and was shaking his head and kept saying, “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry.” Then he told me that one patient in [some immense figure I’ve forgotten] reacts this way to this particular surgery, and the only fix is to break the bones in my newly stiff, deformed pinkie and in the adjacent bent and similarly stiff ring finger and put them back in place so they’d be normally flexible again. Not being willing to go through the risks and pain and expen$e of that extensive a hand surgery, I declined and had to get a new wedding ring because the original no longer fit - and I had to give my beloved baby grand and my guitar to two of my children because I could no longer play either. I sincerely hope it never happens to you.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. We all are at the mercy of having to trust our doctors on these things. As you probably already know...there can be huge differences in doctors. I'm finding that out the older I get too. Thanks and good luck!

I see this post is a year old but it just popped up in my feed. I disconnected it the same way recently. The only problem is I have some wiggle in my bolt. There’s a long wait to get it fixed and not using the truck is not an option for me. Totally pathetic that this company doesn’t address this issue and I guarantee you when the word spreads it will hurt their sales. These are extremely expensive vehicles and there’s no excuse for the lack of customer support.

I hear you! There is a YT video on a hot shot fleet owner and all five of his 2022 RAM 6.7 Cummins had the engines fail, all were lifter related. I think he had to get a lawyer. smh....... Thanks for watching!

Wow, super interesting!! I like how you took us through every step of the way and explained while you went. Did I see that you wrapped some piping in white fabric with rock inside? This was at 15:26 into your vid.

That was a 10 foot piece of wrapped with foam chunks between the wrapping sock and the pipe, supposedly eliminating the need for gravel but they were way too expensive. Thanks for watching!

No, uoa shows normal in last sample with iron trending down from 140 ppm to 39 ppm under similar loading and mileage. Fingers crossed 🤞 Thanks for watching!

I have this tool and it's great. Now I know why my wheels locked up for a second on my ABS system, the last guy didn't bleed the solenoid. I Need to do my brakes soon, but when you see the menu Inlet Left Front. Inlet Right Front. Is left and right from when you are sitting inside the car or when you are looking at the car from the front? Thanks for the vidfeo. Cheers

Left is left as you are sitting in the vehicle. Lots of mechanics have just been saying driver's side or passenger side. I really like the D7! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Bought a new house. I just learnt that gutters are provided as part of code compliance but not the micro mesh and things like leaf filter. So I called leaf filter for quote. Since I live in NY state, leaf filter does not have 1099 employees or subcontractor, it must be a union employees. The initial quote was very high almost $5900 for 112 LF of leaf gutter for 2 floor house. So being in construction business, I knew the labor rates. I did some math and came up with my own quote right before him. I put the number at $3700 total includes time+material+burden+taxes-profit. One thing I noticed that you guys are not talking is the lifetime transferable warranty. If there are holes or bad sealant, call them and have the guy come back to fill the puncture wounds in the mesh. BTW, it’s a SS surgical 325 mesh. Will never rust. I will pay for such good ideas to any manufacturer.

The stainless steel mesh used has not rusted in nearly 10 years. The plastic frame work will degrade and split out from ozone type damage long before the ss mesh gives out. Thanks for watching!
