Fun Fact, in the UK you are allowed to use your mobile (cell) phone while driving.. But the only person you are allowed to be on the phone with in that circumstance is actually the police. Jack Bauer You shouldn’t give money to homeless. Most of the time there’s a reason that they’re homeless, and it’s not because it’s someone else’s fault. They made bad decisions and will continue to do so. Doesn’t matter how much money you give them.

Entrapment is baiting the person in to breaking the law which they are not doing.
is it just a financial penalty that motorists incur for using a mobile while driving? Here in England the penalties have recently increased, its a £200 fine, thats approx $250, but a persons licence is also endorsed with 6 penalty points, the points remain logged on your licence for three years and if you collect 12 points or more in total in that time your licence is revoked and you can be disqualified for driving for a year, so that lady in the clip who was caught using here phone twice in the space of two weeks would most likely have to appear in court and receive a driving ban if it was in England, and after a driving ban is logged on you record car insurance becomes very very expensive as you are seen as a high risk. Do they have a points system in the USA,? ..its quite a good deterrent because it is a more significant consequence than just a fine.
I don't know about all states but in some states they have the point system were if you commit traffic violations you get points on your record and when you get a certain amount, you get your drivers license suspended for a certain amount of time.
Yes, exactly like the UK, except it also makes your insurance skyrocket, so it's both financial for the fine, financial for the next 3-5 years on insurance premiums, AND the points that rack up with the suspension of licence for xx years.
I caught this fat 60 year old woman texting. I politely told her that she should not be texting. She immediately went on the defensive, gave me the finger several times, threatened to kick my ass. She threatened to have her husband kick my ass. So I was, "Mam, that's a threat, and I can call the police." So I decided to leave well enough alone, and she followed me to a store. She was waiting for me by the door. So I decided to just do my shopping and let her wait. Eventually, she got the point and left me alone. But as I got into my car, she drove back in the parking lot, yelled out the window and flipped me off. I just ignored her and went on my way. Its not worth it.

Uh oh this Francisco guy is a boot kicker... what a shame. I think I the point is that distracted driving is distracted driving. If you get hit by a cop on a lap top or a civilian on the phone which hurts worse? My point exactly.... when you’re dead is your family going to say well the cop was speeding to an unknown location and he needed the details so we understand or will they say that if he were distracted he shouldn’t be speeding?
El Jefè Williams who are you to be calling me anything first of all? Obviously I know that distracted driving is wrong no matter if you’re a civ or a LEO. All I’m saying is that the cops have a valid reason to be doing that
El Jefè Williams I never said it’d be justified for them to hit anyone. I said their reason to be on the laptop is valid. As opposed to any other civ being distracted to make plans for the weekend.
Texting and driving should be a 1000 dollar ticket so they learn. More than 6,000 people die a year cause of this. Just put your phone in the glove department and leave it there!
I agree 100% , I am a retired Termite & Pest Control Operator and Company Owner the phone went every where I went when cell phone came out. Then texting and so on. I never text not one word while driving. Company policies included the same and I would fire a person for that reason after warnings.. One thing I might add though is I think the police who I have seen doing that very thing should also be held to that same law.
The blindfold reference is inaccurate because when you text and drive you still have peripheral vision which is enough to keep you between the lines and that's it.
A woman had to text someone "I'm on my way" now a little boy in my community sits in a wheel chair paralyze from the chest down now people would you want to live with that

Crazy how I live in Palm Springs Florida and I see police everyday on their cell making calls and so on and nothing happens to them. Two wrongs don't make a right.
There exempt
They’re exempt from that law as long as it’s work related. Sometimes officers have to be called for some information because it can’t be relayed over the radio.
How many watching this video does that as a way of life. 😢
Selfish / high risk drivers.
Potential muderers
about money or safety?
While I really hate distracted drivers as much as the next person, it seems that this is more about money than safety.
I've seen cops going down the road on cell phones and also typing on their little laptops with their bodies turned sideways. Not only enforce the law, but they're clearly above it too!!
walking back81 hey buddy, let’s see you try to speed off onto a callout with absolutely no details or a clue about what’s happening at your destination. That’s right, cops are out here doing their job while you’re over here texting Jim about where you want to take the kids this weekend.
All I’m saying is that the cops have a valid reason to be doing that
Francisco B will it be valid when they hit you? Will it be justified? Will it hurt less because it’s a LEO? You’ve yet to answer the question
El Jefè Williams I never said it’d be justified for them to hit anyone. I said their reason to be on the laptop is valid. As opposed to any other civ being distracted to make plans for the weekend.
Wish they would do that here in my town, we have a ton of idiots on the phone
Texting and driving should be a 1000 dollar ticket so they learn. More than 6,000 people die a year cause of this. Just put your phone in the glove department and leave it there!
Second offence, how about banned from driving for a month (plus the fine)..
Yeah this is more harsh than a dui. Let’s fix that first
This is why I use the “hey Siri” feature for iPhone.
Its about getting easy money.
Edna, you must be one of those low life texters, right?
The sound of being amazed when the number of traffic deaths is higher then the number of murders??? Jee I am glad I do not live in the USA.
Sometimes I get more distracted looking at another person texting!
“Don’t give money to the homeless” is this a law?
Ninjaslash52 _ Some cities have this law.
Shouldnt the officers get a ticket for loitering? Homeless people cant stand with sign so what gives them the right to?
Stop issuing tickets and start issuing a three strike system. Three strikes for distracted driving and you lose your licence for good.
Nik Murphy are you 80 and angry? Change your adult diaper you’ll feel better
I posed as a homeless person when I had no where to live.
His sign said he wasn’t posing as homeless but the title says he was?
$162 for a first offense is ridiculous!
Well, don't do it, simple as that lol.
You are right. License suspension for six months would be much better.
Would you prefer $50 and a police beating instead?
It's about creating revenue. Has nothing to do with safety.
In california, they only make money from vehicle registrations (cops do) Thank you

1554coltsfan its that kind of mindset that gets people killed
Godwin's Law lol
1554coltsfan no intelligent response because you know your wrong.
Godwin's Law that's "you're," Mr. Intelligent.
Kinda dumb CBS videos won't load on their website with an iPad, so I have to go to UA-cam.
How often do you see cops talking on their phones though??? pretty often around here
I was in America for just over 2 weeks and I had seen more people on their phones while driving than I seen where I live for a couple months
A woman had to text someone "I'm on my way" now a little boy in my community sits in a wheel chair paralyze from the chest down now people would you want to live with that
50% safety, 50% revenue
100 percent noncompliance
so now accidents aren't from using electronics but now for being distracted by reading?
I live in Texas where the no phones while driving law still hasn't been applied. I see possibly over 100 every day doing it
Wouldn't holding up a sign saying that you're a cop just blow your cover?
EVERY city should be doing this EVERYWHERE!! Seriously.
That lady cited twice is a bus driver!! Look at her uniform
How hard is it to hold the phone below the window?
When they said “there is NOW more crashes from this than homisides” that bothers me... should I be scared that there are a ton of serial killers out there?? If that makes sense...
It's illegal to look at your phone while on a red light?
I'd have to ask repeat offenders, "would you like to go to jail today"???
They will only learn once they get into an accident.
Cops speed without lights on and text and drive too. I'm a truck driver, I see all the time.
CIRILO HERNANDEZ III there’s a certain code where cops don’t need to have lights on to get to their destination, but will only turn them on going through an intersection. And if they’re in their phone it’s because they need to be relayed info that can’t be relayed over the radio, and because of that they’re exempt from that law.
This is GENIUS!!! Good job police!
