My grandmother was 98 when she died. She had 11 children. Only 5 lived past 80 and only 2 over 90. Her own parents died in their 20s (mother) and at 70 (father).
This concept has been refuted. Telomeres are very short in some animals that live long lives. They appear to be more directly connected to cancer susceptibility.
This cartoon version of iBiology series of lectures I like the least. Luckily, the source -- Dr Kenyon presentation -- is right there in youtube sideview...
Lol the worm doesn't have anti aging properties. They were used as lab rats. Turning off one of their genes made their metabolism slower, which reduced their rate of cell division. Dividing cells can get damaged or mutated, which is one of the causes of aging. Thus, the worms that were experimented on lived longer than normal ones. Humans also have this gene, so humans could one day also potentially have cells that divide slower. That's just about everything.
I LOVE THE DRAWINGS❤
(Rlly needed the explanation ty!)
It would deserve at least millions of views!!!!
Istvan Magyary yeah it deserves
Yes!!! I agree

beautiful illustrations
Is by any chance the daf 2 gene present at the telomeres? Since the shortening of telomere is also related to aging as the cell progresses division.

So soaking in thermal baths may de-activate the DAF2 gene in Humans and extend lifspan? Bob- Hot Springs ARK.
i guess you need to have the mutation in the first place. the mutation just activates when u are hot and then the protein product de-activates.

thank you for mentioning that video! I am so sick of these "drawing" videos... enough already.
IM SO F*CKING CONFUSED I SEE A HAIRY MEN HAND AND I HEAR WOMAN VOICE
ps, what if you remove this worm would you age faster or not at all?

@Ben Alexander, that the reason I put ‘what if’ 😅
@@zebruh2794 What do you mean by that? Remove the worm from what?
