- In this Walking tour I will show you the Vienna Main Station also known as Vienna Hauptbahnhof.
Fully opened in December 2015 it is one of the most important transport hubs in the city with 268000 daily commuters. It was voted as 'Austria's most beautiful railway station' five years in a row.
Apart from that it got the second place in Consumer Choice Center's ranking of "Top 10 Railway Stations for Passenger Convenience in Europe".

I was in Vienna last June. I was in Germany and Austria with some family. We took the train from Munich to Vienna. The train station was really nice too. It’s like an airport almost. Just incredible

Great to know that Vienna got the new central station. It seems that this is a "through station" in stead of the terminal type station. Most European Central station is the terminal style station which is quite often time consuming for the travellers. This new station give a revolution in European railroad.
The concept of Berlin Hbf which was built just a few years before is also that of a through-station.
What is so time consuming for travellers using Kopfbahnhofs or head stations? If all trains are on one level you can walk among the trains much easier actually.
3:45 to 5:53, you actually showed me how to move up to platform #4 from the main concourse as well as how to go down from the platform to the main concourse. Thank you! This is very helpful for me to navigate as I have only a few minutes to spare for transfer from the arrival platform to the departure platform. Of all the walking tours of the station that I had been watching on UA-cam, this is the most useful and helpful one as you actually showed the entrance and the exit to the platforms. Thanks again.

I was truck how few people where in the station> Time of day---early? During the pandemic? Nice coverage of the station. Vienna seems to get civic places right.

It's nice how the young man waves into the camera at 2:37. In German-speaking countries it is rather rare that people react so positively to cameras in public.
That is true, but Vienna is quite international
Some cameraman don't like it, cause it's unnatural for a reportage to be part of the story. Ignoring the camera is most often wanted by the director.
what is the smallest city that is not so big if one is to book the ticket and travel by tram and U and take taxis around for shorter distances in the city than Vienna ?

Hello lovely video, my husband and I are coming to Vienna in August and we need to get from the airport to burggasse Stadthalle Station, would you mind telling me which route we need to take? Many thanks
From the airport, you can take the train to Hauptbahnhof(Vienna main station), from Hauptbahnhof you can take the tram nr. 18, in Burggasse direction( Burggase it s the last stop). Hope you enjoy your time in Vienna!
You can also use the Google Maps and select the train options, it s very accurate at least in Vienna plus it shows the timetable of train, trams etc.
Hello, I have a 5 minute transfer in wien HBF, I do not know what platforms it is and I have never been to this station before, do you think it would be possible to get from one side of the station to the other in 5 minutes?

You need to look at screens, because they change. Train for the airport usually is titled Wien Flughafen
