I had a stray cat take up at my house years ago, and I took her to the vet because she was straining to pass stool. The stuff the vet sent us home with did no good, so I bought a can of pumpkin at TS (prepared for dogs) and gave her some. After that, she was no longer constipated. I still have her and she has grown into a beautiful housecat that is super smart!
Pumpkin is also good for your horse. It is truly medicine food for the body.

I grow my own pumpkins and bake them throughout the winter and mash it. I freeze it on cookie sheets, break it up, and add it to my gsd's food that I make him every morning. Lots of vitamins and nutrients in pumpkin beyond the fiber.

I buy a can pumpkin and I take empty ice cube trays and put a tablespoon in each one freeze. It pop them out and put them in a baggie and then I just add them them to their food. Or I’ll pop it in the microwave to thaw out a little bit.
