Those are handy, for myself when I need to stir harder to dissolve powder I actually bought a Hamilton beach shake mixer and that does a great job and it comes with the stainless steel cup to mix it. Great demo thanks for sharing.
Thanks, I don't personally like all the noise from blenders, mixers and even the handheld smoothie makers. Some mixes do better and end up with more dissolved solids after a lengthy stir cycle. Lots of options depending on the desired end result. After the initial stir, this is silent running and I really like that.
Frederick Dunn somehow i can understand that you’re a probably a quiet person given how soft spoken you are also. Not a bad thing at all and I assumed that’s why you preferred the magnetic method version a typical rotary blending method. Personal choice and having different ways are a good thing and I actually may try the magnetic method myself just for the heck of it.
Thanks for sharing...Would you mind trying a 32 ounce Ball Canning jar with straight water...I am interested to see if the magnet is strong enough to still spin the water through the thicker glass...Thanks
What are the benefits to this method of making 2:1, vs mixing it on a stove top? I came across these on Amazon while browsing around, and now debating if they're worth it for making simple syrups and molecular mixology
Frederick Dunn Thanks! That's what I assumed, although one with a hot plate would come in handy for me at work to set a 2:1 demerara syrup and not need to constantly watch...hmm 🤔
Definitely, if I were getting another one, it would have temperature controls and would be able to handle the larger stirrers. Definitely don't want the temp to go too high. Let me know what you end up getting and how it works for you! I just may have to go shopping again :)
I'm way ahead of you, I have a hot chocolate mixing right now and my wife is a "tad annoyed" by all the fuss :) BUT, I had one earlier and can say that having all the chocolate powder completely smoothed away is an entirely new experience... mmmmmmm..... BUT, as someone else mentioned, I wish I'd picked up one with a hot-plate built in.
I know this is an old vid... Buuuttt... I'm concerned it doesn't have an "off" button? Do I have to unplug it? Or does it click/turn off on the low setting?
Wow, that's expensive! I could definitely see it used for yeast and even those who have to keep salt brine moving for brine shrimp production, better than an air bubbler in my opinion :)
Hi Sam, thanks for that question, but unfortunately, I have a collection of stirrers and just added the one with them and can't recall which one was included. I "think" it was about an inch and a half in length? I tried to add a 3" stirrer and it completely failed, so you have to keep the length under 2" if you want it to remain in the center.
Hi Max Bees, my bees are doing extremely well. This year, in particular, I wanted to make videos showing varroa in worker brood or drone cells and the hygienic behavior of my bees causes them to remove varroa destructor mites before I can locate and photograph them. I also have an observation hive/colony that is completely untreated and they also are too effective at removing varroa for me to capture the evidence. I do monitor them and they are handling varroa without intervention. Look into BeeWeaver and learn more about the genetics they are working with, these are the bees I've used for over 10 years.
I use the Weaver Queens... I've already ordered three more for 2018, Not the Buckfast or Italians- those require treatment to help with varroa. The Weaver Lines do not require treatment- shop.beeweaver.com/bees/queens
Hi Brian, if you've watched my honey bee videos, that's exactly what I do... each of my colonies has circa 80-100 lbs of honey in frames for wintering. Thanks for your comment and for watching.
Try highly flocculating (WPL-002 for example) yeast at end of a slurry/pitch development :) Its an out-of-box (in my case) working cheap ($30 bucks) china product. Up to 4L with vortex of air down to the stir bar for me in convex beaker. Recommend it highly for 30 clams. Not a top notch product at all, basic stuff.
helith teixeira all this one is is a small cheap motor with terrible magnets and no torque. Mine got red hot trying to stir 20pg 70vg and could not actually stir it properly.

They make mugs that use a portable version of this tech! I use it to make hot chocolate
Exactly 😂

We use these all the time in labs when dissolving crystals for buffers or when making media to grow bacteria or yeast in
That's a really good use 👍
I just want it to make whirlpools in general :P
I went with a sh2 and sh3 for oil and sugar binding. Hope they get here soon its that time.

My search for the perfect mixing system continues . . . :)
I got one for shellac and whatever else. Looking forward to trying it. For the price, i figured why not. And it’s fun. Lol
What's shellac
Would this effectively blend protein powder and milk together?
Thanks for asking, I don't it could handle that mix.
@@FrederickDunn thank you for the quick reply!
i recommend add more water so its not wiggling, what do u think? Wew
can you mix in plastic container?
Yes.
how many hour min can you run the stirrer without danger?
It's not limited that I know of.
Thanks for sharing...Would you mind trying a 32 ounce Ball Canning jar with straight water...I am interested to see if the magnet is strong enough to still spin the water through the thicker glass...Thanks
Some Ball jars have a raised center at the bottom, it's not as good as the thin glass beakers. The stirrer will flip off to the side often.
@@FrederickDunn Yeah...that is what I was wondering...need to get a flask or beaker instead...
@@FrederickDunn some,
Use the glass from a French press

Does a stirrer structure the water ?
If you keep the water at 4°C/39°F while stirring for at least 20 minutes yes...
uhhh is it bad i want one to stir my tea bc im just that lazy
Nope, the more complicated you can make a simple task, the better in my opinion!
I know this is an old vid... Buuuttt... I'm concerned it doesn't have an "off" button? Do I have to unplug it? Or does it click/turn off on the low setting?
You turn it off with the speed control knob.

Thank you 🙏.
If we reverse the polarity do we get a reverse direction?

DC or AC depends
I use these for cultivating yeast. Cheapest i could find in uk was £90 so i made one for about £12. Great things to have tho.

nope

no
great video.. just a quistion.. does this stirrer works also with a 3 a 4 cm magnet?? or is the best size magnet 1,5 cm ..
thank you so much 😊👍
Yes, it will work with those sizes.

Could this be used to stir epoxy
Not strong enough.
Would this work for stirring nail polish?
nope
Is this good for mixing epoxy with hardener ?
I would not think so, it really can't handle anything that thickens.

no idea
Surprised you didnt buy one with a heating element in it.
What?! (';') now you tell me.... !!!
Anyone know if it would work for dielectric grease? Will it stir?
nope
Could I mix 2 component epoxy resin with it? It's really thick
Hi Carmen, I personally would not do that as you have to clean the stirring capsule and it just may be too thick for effective mixing to occur.
What length is the stirring pellet that comes with it and what size would you recommending to upgrade to?
Hi Sam, thanks for that question, but unfortunately, I have a collection of stirrers and just added the one with them and can't recall which one was included. woww that is nice to hear with 4,9mm cell or
5.28 mm cell size
Could you use this for something already blended but separates in glass bottle or plastic bottle?
If it's a bottle, remember that you still have to drop the stirrer inside and be able to get it back out. But if it has a flat bottom, it should work.
Thank you for your reply, I was just thinking for nail polish or glue that separates.
can it mix warm honey ?
Nope, it can't handle that.
Can this be used for mixing Epoxy?
And do you have to use a glass container for the pellet to work?
No, it wouldn't be good for epoxy.
Weird question but could this beat an egg?
great question and the answer is no.
I also have this one, it's great for amateur lab work
Nice
Hi! Have you tried foaming milk with it ?
No, we have a milk-frother for that :)
Frederick Dunn but is it possible anyway? ) I would like to use it in competition routine on barista championship) if it works
It really wouldn't get enough air introduced for frothing in my opinion. Best of luck with your competition!
I wonder what would happen if you replaced that magnetic stirrer underneath the beaker for an induction stove.
no idea
