The real reason Windu has a purple lightsaber wasn’t to stand out. Jackson just went to Lucas and asked him if he could have a purple lightsaber because he liked purple.
No Samuel Jackson said in an interview that the reason he asked for purple was because he wanted to he able to see himself in the first battle of geonisis.
My personal headcanon for black lightsabers is that, given the only one we see is of Mandalorian design and considering the utmost importance of clan, family, and honor above all else to the Mandalorian people, black is very much representative of a zealous will to defend with all of one's heart those who he cares for. More broadly, it is emblematic of a strong attachment and unbreakable bond, held for selfless, sacrificial reasons, that is antithetical to the common practices of both the Jedi and the Sith, hence why it is seen nowhere else. The Sith sought attachment only when it convenienced themselves, and the Jedi, especially nearing their fall, often avoided it not because it was bad, but because they feared what might happen when they lose that which they devote such feelings towards. Perhaps not the best way I could word it, but it's what I like to go with.
This actually makes sense if we Look at white khyber crystalls which are made by "healing" a crystalls that were used by inquisitors/siths it translates to purity a blank slate somone who does what is right somone untied by rules couse they weren't written yet. While black with white Hue can mean somone tied to code filled with rules, regulations and laws Just like first jedi Mandalorian tied himself to jedi order and its rules, before his blade became a law "one who has a lightsaber controls Mandalora".
I actually like this theory a lot. I think you worded it well. I’ve never thought of it that way! Especially since the mandalorian code honors attachment and creed
I always just assumed it would have something to do with the culture of war and conflict within mandalorian history and how it is first and foremost there way of life
I guess will just have to wait until the high republic era gives us that black lightsaber we see in some of the concept art. Really curious to see how that came about
The dark saber probably utilizes the krayt dragon pearls. If anyone was crazy enough to take on a krayt dragon and make a weapon from its gizzard stone, I'd bet it was a mandalorian.
@@Kate-Tea Actually it doesn’t. You need a kyber crystal to focus a lightsaber blade. Krayt Dragon pearls aren’t made of kyber. Besides, from the original source material that introduced Krayt Dragon Pearls being put into lightsabers, it didn’t affect the color at all.
@@JoshO423 brown/bronze isn’t canon anymore and in all honesty kinda like how Lightsabers work in Disney canon (a few things they have gotten right) like what does brown represent? I see it as more of a dark side color but red, pink, and even purple got all that covered
One other color you forgot to mention, although I don't blame you since it's very close to Orange: Amber. Amber is the color of the Solari crystal, a one-of-a-kind crystal that was inherently tied to the light side of the force and resulted in a blade that would actually strengthen or weaken respective to the user's force alignment. Should a Jedi using this crystal fall to the Dark Side completely, the crystal would fail to produce a blade entirely.
@@IceFist66 Indigo is basically an extension of blue. I'd argue it tends a bit more towards purple than lighter blues, but it's still square in the Guardian camp.
Also in the Legends Universe the notable Jedi Knights known for using Red Lightsabers included Luke Skywalker's first pupil/wife Mara Jade Skywalker, Luke's sister Leia Organa Solo, and Kyle Katarn's student Jaden Korr with Jaden using the Red Lightsaber to symbolize his/her adherence to the first two lessons taught by Kyle those lessons being "No power is strictly good or evil what determines a power being good or evil is how you use the power." and "It's okay to feel anger but it's not okay to give into it."
I personally think that real pure light side color is yellow because I see it as ballance between blue and green. Orange is for the real ballance of the Force as it combines red and yellow
I think Red is passion Blue is combat And yellow is the will of the force This works for every other color Green is a fighter who also wants to listen to the force but are tied down Purple is a passion for fighting Orange is righteous fury, like plo koon Black is just crystal beskar White is a new start
U forgot something about the blue lightsabers. The darker the blue, the more lightsaber-based your fighting style was. Lighter blues meant you used the force more. Usually, darker blue users were more aggressive (with lightsabers)
My personal feeling on purple in canon is that they are naturally wounded kyber crystals. Something about their formation near sources of dark side power gives them some degree of pain. Maybe Mace went to one such place where the Dark Side was strong and got his crystal there.
I always liked to think that, since he was considered among the greatest jedi, it was a previously red lightsaber that was being “healed”, but being just that balanced is an answer I accept too tbh
@@aedaniammx7559 yeah when it comes to Mace Windu's crystal its just rare and was given to him as a padiwan for helping a species made out of stone. The crystal itself is thought to contain both light and dark side energies which is why Jedis or sith typically don't use them. Mace is the exception though since he uses his own version of form 7 (mostly used by sith), but made it his own and called it Vapod. Mace was the only Jedi of that time able to handle the temptations of the dark side that came with it as seen in a comic when Mace was creating Vapod he had tried to teach a friend of his whom turned to the dark side and Mace had to kill him. The reason being why Yoda allowed Mace to embrace vapod is because Mace was the secret weapon against the Sith and for a peroid of time believed he might have been the choosen one until Anikan came around. Vapod wasn't that effective against Jedi, but It didn't matter because Mace was insanely talented with a lightsaber and held his own against the likes of Obi-wan, Yoda, and Count Dooku without it. However when against a Sith it would add that siths force strength on top of Mace's. He also has a rare force ability called Shatter Point which allows Mace to use the force to see weakpoints that can be exploited. We don't see it in the movies, but this is why the legendary bounty hunter Jango Fett was taken out so easily and also why Mace Windu was able to beat Palpatine where Yoda couldn't. This also explains why Anikan was able to catch Mace off guard to uhh...disarm him and solidify his role as the choosen one to bring Balance to the force. One key thing that goes under peoples radars is if Mace Windu was capable of beating Palpatine then whats the point of the choosen one? Its exactly what the description says and that is "to bring balance to the force" which at the beginning of Episode 1 the Jedi clearly are way more in control and are even involved with politics and war. We are just experiencing the story from the Jedi's perspective and they believe that balance means the eradication of the sith, but yet the Jedi themselves are ok with taking children from their homes at a young age from their parents without consent and rejecting traditional ideas of love and instead have them to embrace compassion for others...the Jedi's had become a cult.
For the eternal empire it is stated that within the Knights of the Eternal Empire expansion for Star Wars the Old Republic they use the force for devotion to their Emperor Valkorian, not for light or dark side purposes but specifically for their loyalty to Valkorian said by Senya and even under Arcann and Vaylin the knights when attacking will sometimes say "Justice for Valkorian!"
One of my favorite examples of not categorizing The Force as just black and white. Yeah, those dudes were probably running into the enemy angry and bloodlusted af that their god emperor had been slain but they weren't drowning in it to the point that they had physical deformities and psychological damage...
@@blackshogun272 it's the largest example by far as well... no other order in starwars that isnt the sith or jedi had nearly as many and honestly the knights of zakuul may even outnumber both sith and jedi before the Outlander arrived and killed so many of them

I remember playing. Jedi Academy and at heart I had always had a fondness for Green so my light side play through was a counselor (green) in my dark side play through I did Yellow. Something about that made sense to me. A yellow blade dark side wielder then I saw the old Republic trailer I was happy to see it come into fruition in canon. The idea that a Jedi would balance guardian and Counselor just sounded like they wanted more power thus giving them a room to echo the dark side. This is why the council doesn’t have them them at the temple. (Black bag operation Jedi) they do the bad stuff they don’t want to know about. Espionage and murder. I know it’s not accurate to lore this was just my thoughts at that time.
@@thomasheart1337 All I know about them besides that is that they were very briefly talked about in Legends continuity, someone I once knew would have had a much better answer, most of what I know is that they are exceedingly rare, only being found on very few mountains on very few planets in the outer rim system, the crystals being nearly invisible, and that no one has ever managed to make one because the crystals are different when it comes to creating a lightsaber from the other known kyber crystals
Yellow is my favourite lightsaber colour as I feel it best suits me for the sentinel reasons but green also would suit me as well. The blue lightsabers I also love
My personal favorite interpretation I've heard on the yellow lightsaber variant Is that they are made with crystals that at one point in there history wear both bled and then healed and the yellow coloring showed up over time maybe they are ancient crystals recovered from fallen sith healed and kept by the order to be used by mainly by temple guards and on occasion calling out to younglings or jedi who have lost their original saber
Hey, I have to say that while this is a very reasonable and likely meaning for their colors, I feel like a sabers color can be displayed from a personality; blue would stand for well-intentioned and protective, while red would stand for power-seeking/ill-intentive and hatred. Green would stand for wisdom and knowledge, while yellow would stand for balance and peace. Purple would stand for powerful and strong willed, while orange would stand for less force sensitive and weaker willed. White would stand for understanding and control, while the black/dark Saber would stand for a chaotic and unnatural side that is offset by the intentions of the wielder as only those with one true emotion could completely control it. Also, I feel like the reason this doesn't change the color of the blade is because the color stays as a certain color when they gain the crystal but will possibly change depending on how the user feels when they choose their next kyber crystal, but the shade of the blade may change depending on the emotions they feel and a blade may get lighter if a person is keeping on the path of their saber but may get darker as a person is feeling something different. Tell me how you feel about this and if you think they have another reason by personality.
Maybe my app is acting up, but the whole video was blocked by an image when in the original perspective, and half was blocked when I rotated my phone horizontally for full screen. Still, awesome explanations of the colors/affiliations! Thanks for going into detail with examples!
That's because of UA-cam. When you're watching a yt short and just go back (minimising it) and select a normal video to watch, sometimes a screenshot from the short will overlay the video. You have to exit the short properly (click the X to close it) to fix it.
I would probably have either an orange or purple lightsaber because it suits me best, but if it were my choice I would probably take a turquoise or silver/grey-ish lightsaber.
Exactly. Because in the real world, that's what we do anyway. By all legends and lore, I should be compelled to pick a green crystal, as I am basically an academic with a strong fondness for pursuing knowledge. However I've never cared for green in a saber. Blue is my favorite color in everything. So my saber is a light ice blue. I guess the Order will just have to deal with it. ;)
My theory for the dark saber is it's a partly man made crystal created by Tarre Vizsla or perhaps the armorer of his time period, it probably was a natural kyber crystal or a purified crystal with white coloration and then forged with a beskar coat.
The temple guards are sentinels on rotation. Whilst they did prefer to be out being protectors of all people, the Temple guards was a great honour. As a lot of the sentinels died off about 200 years before the fall of the Jedi we don’t see much of them anymore, so very little rotation occurred at the time. I think one of the most famous sentinels would be the grand inquisitor. I’m hoping we get to see a few more in the new high republic era
Here is my views on lightsabers. All lights sabers start white in there purity. Then it splits into a triangle with a red point for aggression blue point of protection and yellow for mystics (Healers and scholars). The counselors bridge the studies of the blue protector and the yellow mystical coming up with green, the purple is a mix of the aggression of the red an the protection of the blue, The pink I think is someone willing to be aggressive but try's to do it all like white
I would agree to a point but rebels changed that for me. The spirits in the temple used yellow but I am not sure that was even swordmanship or a force projection. I think the main Jedi order could only get so far to he temple guardians making there blades green from the blue. I think the counselors were reaching more to the mystic powers but falling short.
6:38 That background saber is literally the most badass thing i have ever seen wtf. Why have i never seen this before? Its opens like a butterfly knife AND ITS DOUBLE SIDED? So god damn dangerous impractical and badass. I want.
Poor Head cannon, probably: It seems like the cannon and Legends method of making red lightsabers don't have to be mutually exclusive as the only way of obtaining a red crystal. A synthetic crystal would probably only be atomically akin to natural, pure kyber crystals but without any force energy infused into them, think a synthetic diamond or quartz. When made in a lab, synthetic gems/crystals have fewer inclusions (flaws or pieces of the original material that didn't crystalize) and are closer to pure and so, have to be given inclusions or radiation exposure that that crystaline structure would have obtained in nature to alter it's color. Meaning a sith would have to "bleed" it anyway. Fun fact: Most notably the process with radiation is used for "pink" and "red" diamonds (UM... EXPENSIVE) and, to my knowledge, lab grown rose quartz. Possibly, a force user would end up working longer, harder or constantly on it compared to a naturally red crystal. This part of my theory comes from the fact that lab grown pink quartz and lab grown red diamonds lose their color and fade faster and greater compared to natural rose quartz and red diamonds which are usually ok for a LONG time (decades apposed to centuries) as long as they are kept out of direct sun...aka "the light". (Red and pink DIAMOND is exceptionally rare in nature too, rose quartz not so much, it's just rare to find any with gem quality clarity and they are usually TINY. Quartz won't turn red on it's own {that I'm aware of I'm, a newb in the gem/crystal nerdum}, but quartz IS the main component in many precious red gems like garnet.....) But with this theory: could a force user take a synthetic crystal and infuse it with light side/healing energy from the start and create a white blade to begin with also? (Idk WHAT the real world equivalent of THAT would be tho...it just sounds cool) Thus ends my nerdum cross over episode! Just cool head cannon stuff...
But synthetic crystals do have force energy imbued within them… The entire process of making on in legends is a forced based ritual that floods the synth crystal with force energy from the user. They use the force to create it.
You should do a video on how a lightsaber works. My theory is that as the emission and absorption parts of the blade meet and collide with one another. This collision would end up creating the famous lightsaber glow. Furthermore, the alignment of each person within the force would augment the color of the person’s blade, due to the collision bringing out the full nature of the Kyler crystal. This, I think, would explain some of the more mysterious parts about lightsabers such as the dark saber. In stead of having its emitter within the circle of its absorber, it would have them side by side. This would cause them to be like two blades constantly rubbing up against each other, which would give it its signature appearance. This would explain the mechanics of one of the most feared weapons within the Star Wars universe.
I think orange could be another one that’s for balance as cal uses it and he seems to not block out his emotions like a Jedi using his anger but remains more on the light side with his values intentions and how he uses his emotions
That does make a fair amount of sense as even plo koon had an orange lightsaber and he could use electric judgment (light side force lighting) and he was fairly in tune with his emotions such as his bond with Ahsoka and his treatment of the clones
People always want to associate the color of a lightsaber with the wielder's personality, and I get that. It's so evocative. But it feels like if that were the case, we would see characters go on arcs that change and their lightsaber color might change with them. And then that asks the question of "well how does the Force determine if someone's deserved a color change yet?". Then we get into fiddly DnD alignment arguments. I think it's best to associate colors of sabers with status and title, and if you act unbefitting of the title it could be taken away or simply stop working. Then once you either accept your status or move on to something else, then maybe you'd have to go out and get a new saber to reflect your new life. It should be an undertaking to get a new saber color and it shouldn't happen just because "lol I'm angry so it turns red".
There's one color of lightsaber that this video doesn't talk about, the silver bladed lightsaber. Used by Corran Horn and Keiran Halcyon. I'm pretty sure the color was to signify the jedi's strick dedication to justice and the law above all else. I could be wrong.
@@dakotafogarty5901 Yeah it was in KOTOR 2. And funny enough, orange appeared in Kotor 2 before fallen order. it also had cyan, (which is a lighter blue.) Viridian, (which has a pastel like green blade.) Then bronze as well. I remember as a kid, I would save scum before talking to the first vendor because he had a color crystal that was randomized with the rarer crystals being almost as hard to find as shiny pokemon. I was desperate for a double bladed silver saber
@@ErikLambShank I remember the orange crystal though it wasn't my favorite. To get the silver one don't you have to side with the female merchant and stabilize a couple of the other planets.
@@dakotafogarty5901 Maybe? it has been quite a while 😅, but I do remember the vermilion and cyan crystal could be sold from the Telos Vendor at least. Here's hoping the Kotor Remake has a diverse selection of saber colors 🙏
I like that you have both the former and current canon. But you left out the Cyan, Silver, Viridian, & Bronze. Also Sith Conquer, later King of Onderon Freedon Nadd had a orange lightsaber.
I would point out the two special crystals one can get in KOTOR. The Mantle of the Force crystal gave your blade an interesting color of blue (if I remember correctly) but it's the other crystal that gave your saber an orange color. So the orange IS in the expanded universe (or is KOTOR canon?). These crystals can be found at the Yavin IV station.
@@Sabrasmkk When Disney bought Star Wars they decided everything prior to the acquisition other than the primary films and The Clone Wars would no longer be canon and would now be known as Legends. They decided some of the people and events told in Legends would be true, but their stories would be reforged later as part of the new canon. Also, some of the material that they had kept as canon after the acquisition had referenced Legends material. Those references therefore had to be canon, but most of the details were lost. Revan was one of those characters. When Disney acquired Star Wars they wiped all of the stories that focused on him from canon but he was referenced in a mural on a wall in a scene of The Clone Wars. This meant that the character had to be canon, although all the stories relating to him had been wiped. This was also true with most of the original Clone Wars series. Since The Clone Wars (2008) was a direct sequel to Clone Wars (2003) a large amount of the events in Clone Wars (2003) had to be true despite not being in any canon material; The Clone Wars (2008) made references to events in Clone Wars (2003) that were no longer canon in any regard other than those references.
I wish there were more legend or canon on Kyle Katarn as well. If anyone remembers Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2, he starts with green but ends up using Yun's Orange blade to battle Saris if you chose the light side path. Then in Mysteries of the Sith, he keeps the Orange blade up until you see Kyle again in Jedi Outcast, which happens to be a blue blade 🤔 either just a lapse in story, or if there's something I'm missing, I don't know. But Kyle being one of my favorite legend characters won't change
There are many more colors from Legends sources. KotOR/2, for example have viridian, silver, violet, and cyan. They also had orange before Fallen Order.
It's my personal headcannon, and certainly what I do when I play KOTOR 2, that Meetra Surik/The Jedi Exile's lightsaber color is white. Surik was exiled from the Jedi Order, and, assuming you don't go for a Dark playthrough, I think the white crystal suits the Exile best.
Honestly I bought a lightsaber a while ago and for the longest time I liked orange despite it not being a typical star wars colour so when I played fallen order and got to see orange it was awesome and I hope that its implied that orange is his cannon colour foing forward as its vary cool
I bought a lightsaber recently and purple and orange are my go-to colours. Back when I played Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, all my aliens used orange. Still do so when playing SW: The Old Republic.
My headcanon for the yellow is that it's a synthetic crystal, similar to the red, only it doesn't necissarily have the same attunement to the dark side. It would make sense, then, why it would be used by the early Jedi, who might not know the locations of more natural crystals, and by the Sentinals who were more practical and skilled with technology. As for the Eternal Empire using them, I think that's probably because they either took some old Sentinal crystals or just synthesized them due to lack of access to natural ones.
@@loyalwestbriton5410 I'd be fucked off rip in Canon since I'd lowkey at all times be harboring some negative af thoughts and subconsciously corrupt my crystal over time. Niggas would think I'm a Sith sleeper agent or some shit when I loose my cool in a sparring match. Yeah, no thanks, I'll stick with something like a Bo Staff or a legit sword...
yea the only interesting Legends fact I learned from this was that the rainbow crystals were alive. The fact that Canon took that and expanded on it and said that the crystals can be "bled" and "healed" through devotion to the force for different colors is a much better system than "pretty rock is rare"
Possible Theory on the Pink Colouration: _Could be that it represents Rebellious or Selfish Traits. _*_Not necessarily Dark Side Traits,_*_ but more Mercenary like._
I like to think that the Temple guard lightsabers weren't always yellow. They started out as white, purified crystals taken from sith and slowly yellowed over the thousands of years as they were handed down
Blue lightsabers belonged to guardians, true. However, the distinction is that they were skilled with both lightsaber and force. Consulars generally used the force more and had green lightsabers, and sentinels were the lightsaber aficionados using yellow.
Headcanon: Sith use passion in the force, and red crystals are produced when their hate and rage are poured into a kyber crystal. Pink, having a connection to the Sith implied by Mara Jade's training, also should be produced through passion. Hate and rage are two sides of the same coins. On the other side of each, love and panic, respectfully. If we narrow it down to the simplest terms, hate and love much like rage and panic produce similar patterns of action. Single-minded purpose in higher level decision-making is driven by the purest forms of both love and hate. Striking out with singular purpose is a pattern typical of both rage and panic. A pink saber color would befit someone trained to be a dark side dueler, with an unusually strong light side affinity. And this fits Mara Jade's story arc in Legends quite well, considering the element of redemption story. Mara Jade makes choices based on her trained and practiced habitual compulsions, which eventually leads her to a new path. And this kind of animal-minded duality accounts for why, once they're engaged, it is so difficult to deter Sith using reason. They're deliberately channeling typically irrational behaviors. This would also support for Mara Jade a character quality lending toward devotion to family. She is at her strongest when channeling the very motivators that give rise to devotion, nurturing, affection, attachment, and protectiveness. Also I just want this to be correct because it's cute and fits the color. 😆
I would like to know where everyone is getting the idea that orange means peace, I have seen multiple instances of jedi using orange ligjtsabers throughout canon and none of them are consistent. The only one that is is in regards to the Mandalorian knights, a group of jedi during the old republic who lost faith in the republic as a whole and were adopted into a Mandalorian clan, they then all changed their lightsabers to orange. No one ever mentions them.
There's also the Bronze blade of Freedon Nadd, the Cyan blade of Exar Kun and the Mantle of the Force crystal, the Viridian blade color from KOTOR 2, the Indigo color blade from Fallen Order... that's all I can think of, I'll edit if I find more.
Red being anger path to the sith, I feel like pink would be love or passion driving you. And since the Jedi of the republic era forbid attachments, it would make sense as to why it’s very few.
Jedi interrogation: What Color is your lightsaber? Jedi Only: Green, Blue, White Sith Only: Red, Ultraviolet (Black), Orange Either Jedi or Sith: Yellow, Purple, and all other colors.
Honestly, this sounds to me like it started with red for bad guys and blue for good guys, and then as each person added to the lore, they wanted their new character or group to be special and unique in a world that already had space wizard knights, so they added new "special" colors to make their chosen character stand out as not just another jedi.
my understanding is that in legends, all kyber crystals are attuned to the light side by default, which is why they must be made to bleed for the sith, so i don't think pink has anything to do with the darkside
I believe that the black blade of the dark saber is a combination of all other lightsaber colors , created by a extremely conflicted jedi . One who exhibited all aspects of the force , light through dark and everything in between .
My favorite color, which was one of the rarest and hardest to get in the first Knights of the Old Republic game was Silver. Any meaning about that one?
I havent seen the latest Ashoka episodes with those two orange wielding dark siders excited to see that and flash backs with Hayden Anakin skyguy but my thoughts on the orange...
Sounds like yellow is it for me (but not for the temple guard reasons). Eclectic, persistent with learning the things I'm interested in, and totally disinterested in anything dogmatic.
I think canon has the better explanation for Kyber crystals that they have no color until connected to a force sensitive and the sith colors requiring a dark ritual is just perfect.
Idk I like the explaination that the artifical crystals via sith alchemy are red, and they used them because they didn't have access to others and judt stuck with them. That makes sense from a logic point of view
I wonder if there would be a gray lightsaber blade that would be kind of middle ground to a cured empty crystal and a black crystal since in canon it is confirmed that the dark saber has a crystal core Maybe a gray saber would result in curing the dark saber Also I think he may have forgotten cyan and brown although I don’t blame him for forgetting brown since it was only used by one character who I never heard of before I saw one of his shorts
Dunno about gray, but in KOTOR 2, there's an option for a silver saber. The Exile states it was completely unique, colorless as the clear waters in the room of a thousand fountains.(You can also acquire one from one of the traders on nar shadda, I can't remember if you can actually get your old saber back from Atris) I assumed this was considered a white saber in the video.

Should a Jedi using this crystal fall to the Dark Side completely, the crystal would fail to produce a blade entirely.
He also forgot bronze and silver
And Indigo (Also Jedi Fallen Order), which is the color I chose
@@IceFist66
Indigo is basically an extension of blue. I'd argue it tends a bit more towards purple than lighter blues, but it's still square in the Guardian camp.
Where do you get this footage?
I like the permafrost crystal myself the ice blue color looked nice plus it makes a jedis hilt feel cold to the touch
I think
Red is passion
Blue is combat
And yellow is the will of the force
This works for every other color
Green is a fighter who also wants to listen to the force but are tied down
Purple is a passion for fighting
Orange is righteous fury, like plo koon
Black is just crystal beskar
White is a new start
For me white is purity, they're made by purging a red crystal of the bleeding and purifying it
U forgot something about the blue lightsabers.
@@aedaniammx7559 Nope. “Healed” lightsabers glow a silver/white color.

I thought Purple had the same meaning in Canon and Legends, especially since Revan wielded a Purple Sabre to signify his ambivalence.
Haven’t heard of a turquoise lightsaber before, always thought that the Ghostfire lightsaber was the rarest

@@andrewjones6583 thats freaky dude. Where they ever / seen / used?
@@thomasheart1337 All I know about them besides that is that they were very briefly talked about in Legends continuity, someone I once knew would have had a much better answer, most of what I know is that they are exceedingly rare, only being found on very few mountains on very few planets in the outer rim system, the crystals being nearly invisible, and that no one has ever managed to make one because the crystals are different when it comes to creating a lightsaber from the other known kyber crystals
Although another lightsaber that was missed in this video that I know more about was the Bronze colored bladed lightsaber
Yellow is my favourite lightsaber colour as I feel it best suits me for the sentinel reasons but green also would suit me as well. The blue lightsabers I also love
Same. I think a mix of the Consular and Guardian philosophies creates a well-rounded Jedi.
yellow and orange for me
Yellow sounds, as a summary, Curiosity blended with loyalty, of both the force and beyond.
I think they mean protecting the balance in the force, as it is the opposite of purple and has no ties to the Jedi or sith
So Yellow would be an “old blood stain” or “healing bruise” sort of color.
Aaah the much needed video of lightsaber colors posted yet again, it’s like there is’nt hundreds of them out there already..
And it seems the more we get the more colors they throw out.
"Oh, look, plaid!"
My favorite lightsaber colors have always been ice blue, yellow/Orange, and white personally

I would bleed my crystal. Red suits me best.
When I started watching Vader's fortress, I knew almost nothing about legends and canon. Much to learn I still have.
The legends version of actually choosing your lightsaber colour will always be my preference
I guess the Order will just have to deal with it. ;)
Finding a crystal to create your saber the way you want should be a quest for a jedi.
My theory for the dark saber is it's a partly man made crystal created by Tarre Vizsla or perhaps the armorer of his time period, it probably was a natural kyber crystal or a purified crystal with white coloration and then forged with a beskar coat.
Yeah, this makes no sense whatsoever.
The three primary colors, when referring to light, are red, blue, and GREEN, not yellow. Oddly, green for mystics fits well for Consulars.
@@JCinLapel The spirits in rebels used yellow because they were the all temple guards, that is the only reason why.
Green is more fitting for mystics.

Poor Head cannon, probably:
It seems like the cannon and Legends method of making red lightsabers don't have to be mutually exclusive as the only way of obtaining a red crystal.
Quartz won't turn red on it's own {that I'm aware of I'm, a newb in the gem/crystal nerdum}, but quartz IS the main component in many precious red gems like garnet.....)
But with this theory: could a force user take a synthetic crystal and infuse it with light side/healing energy from the start and create a white blade to begin with also? (Idk WHAT the real world equivalent of THAT would be tho...it just sounds cool)
Thus ends my nerdum cross over episode!
Just cool head cannon stuff...
Thanks for the info tech, even if I might not understand it fully 😅
But synthetic crystals do have force energy imbued within them…
The entire process of making on in legends is a forced based ritual that floods the synth crystal with force energy from the user.
They use the force to create it.
You forgot to also mention that in real life, the green lightsaber was created so that we could see Luke's lightsaber against the blue sky on Tatooine

This video will help me a lot now, as someone on discord asked me about lightsabre colors. Thanks in advance
Hello fellow FNAF fan
Great video! Super underrated
Cheers!

The Mantle of the Force crystal gave your blade an interesting color of blue (if I remember correctly) but it's the other crystal that gave your saber an orange color. So the orange IS in the expanded universe (or is KOTOR canon?). These crystals can be found at the Yavin IV station.
KOTOR is Legends. It is not canon.

Possible Theory on the Pink Colouration: _Could be that it represents Rebellious or Selfish Traits. _*_Not necessarily Dark Side Traits,_*_ but more Mercenary like._
Orange lightsabers were in Jedi Academy and SWTOR, both of which came out before Fallen Order
Actually, green lightsabers were made so that you could see Luke’s lightsaber during the Jaba ship fight
Wasnt the orange color introduced in KOTOR in a special shop? There were 2 unique crystals.
I always loved the idea of a white light saber
I would like to know where everyone is getting the idea that orange means peace, I have seen multiple instances of jedi using orange ligjtsabers throughout canon and none of them are consistent. The only one that is is in regards to the Mandalorian knights, a group of jedi during the old republic who lost faith in the republic as a whole and were adopted into a Mandalorian clan, they then all changed their lightsabers to orange.
No one ever mentions them.
I really like the idea of canon presumed meaning for orange. I think it fits perfectly and is cool af.

Jedi Only: Green, Blue, White
Sith Only: Red, Ultraviolet (Black), Orange
Either Jedi or Sith: Yellow, Purple, and all other colors.
Can't go anywhere without Fallen Order spoilers, I'll come back after finishing the game lol
Honestly, this sounds to me like it started with red for bad guys and blue for good guys, and then as each person added to the lore, they wanted their new character or group to be special and unique in a world that already had space wizard knights, so they added new "special" colors to make their chosen character stand out as not just another jedi.

I would probably have a purple saber, not just because of the color being my favorite, but being stuck in between the light and dark.
Could the colors of the dark saber show a split between two orders/two paths? In tarvislas case between the jedi order and the mandalorian way.
What is that cool 3D footage used during the yellow portion from? Is it a game?
White is hands down my favorite
Fact check: Orenge was a color used also in Kotor and kotor 2 as well as force unleashed and force unleashed 2
my understanding is that in legends, all kyber crystals are attuned to the light side by default, which is why they must be made to bleed for the sith, so i don't think pink has anything to do with the darkside
I believe that the black blade of the dark saber is a combination of all other lightsaber colors , created by a extremely conflicted jedi .

@@nickter745thebold8 You know, jedi doctrine or whatever. I don't like anything that holds me down or is hierarchical without justification.
@@wolfboyft So, the Will of the Force is dogmatic?
@@nickter745thebold8 No, not necessarily? The jedi =/= the light side.
@@tigerboy4705 agreed.
Rlly rethinking life by doing this
Thank you for the video. ^_^
If I could choose, I'd go with a beautiful deep orange saber
I wonder if there would be a gray lightsaber blade that would be kind of middle ground to a cured empty crystal and a black crystal since in canon it is confirmed that the dark saber has a crystal core
Maybe a gray saber would result in curing the dark saber
Also I think he may have forgotten cyan and brown although I don’t blame him for forgetting brown since it was only used by one character who I never heard of before I saw one of his shorts
