Hi, greetings from the white Golf GTI! Thanks for the nice lap, even if I could see that the Ferrari wanted to disappear on the straight :D
I got a onboard of you two as well!
Good drive! Can we sse the footage?
Hi, of course, i will add the link right here.
ua-cam.com/video/AyliZkcTG0I/v-deo.html
That's a fast VW!
It was awesome to see your excitement mate! Will definitely check out the video. 😁👍🏻
What did you do to it? I just got a mk6 and I wanna mod it to be that fast :D
Like a proud Dad, who escorts his son from a safe distance to the school. :)
Enjoyed the video very much!
Heheh
Brilliant. Like it.
Heheh
Tim is improving. He brakes a little early and heavy but I don't blame him. Better safe than sorry. He should hang out there foe about a month and I'll bet it would make a huge difference.
Props to Tim for driving such a collectible car on the ring.
BC ?? The big risk here are the other drivers on the ring
Buy it to drive, not to store.
I’ve said it before but that go pro angle over the engine as it tenses under load is incredible
It’s pretty cool isn’t it?!
I really must say I do love it too !
@@RobertMitchell All things considered,, probably one of your best onboard vids. That VW in the rear view mirror was awesome.
@@RobertMitchell I never knew (please correct me if I'm wrong here or just seeing things weird) that the gopro could "look" towards a direction? It appears that the gopro is following the path of the road behind the vehicle while in motion. Or am I simply losing my mind?
@@RobertMitchell Is there a way to reduce the image stabilisation? They way the view shifts left and right makes it look strange in most corners
That GT looks so much better when it`s on the move. That air brake is sooo cool.
I also like how low it is
Shmee has improved so much on his driving on the Nurburgring.
Proper!! No one can say he’s slow all slag him off for not driving them properly Shmee150 is more of a proper petrol head than most the twats slagging him off and can drive far better! 👌🏻🤟🏻
Exactly what I was thinkin too.. He seems to be followin Micha's guidelines to the T.. Just watch how he clips the apexes.. He seems to be gettin better n better considerin how careful he was in the Senna..
Rahul Sudhir and the amount of pukka Nurburgring content he does plenty to watch between Robert Misha and Shmee’s channel! 👌🏻🤟🏻
He’s improving tons this year
@@RobertMitchell Fantastic content Robert! Hope to see the 620R run against the GT
4:47 Robert's right, the Ford GT is the car you bring when you want to say to your friend's supercar that they aint low enough.
Exactly haha
And wide.
Sebring FL was the first time I saw the production cars and the racing version. They are the baddest looking and you won't believe how low they are until your next to them. Hell, even the last generation is super low and still looks so awesome today! I did drive the last gen.
You can even do it on the spot as well, pull up, drop to track mode, and run out 😂
To all those haters who think that Tim drives like a granny : Bring your own 500.000 € Supercar to the Ring, be as fast as Tim does it here, make a video to prove it.
Shmee`s driving skills have massively improved. And that GT looks amazing from behind. What a great car !
He’s doing a wonderful job:-)
Well said! 😉👍
this looks like a solid lap.. i don't see a point to hate against Tim, i think for most of us this would be too fast to sit on the passenger seat.
Using price is a poor argument when you quite literally are watching him being followed in a more expensive car.
@@aiGeis A Pista is a little less than a Ford GT last time I looked.
The Volkswagen keeping up with you guys was by far the most impressive thing in this video. Would like to see that onboard footage if it exists.
Yes it does exist. He is a friend of mine
Göker Ceylan I would like to see it
He commented above
ua-cam.com/video/AyliZkcTG0I/v-deo.html here you go :)
Respect for Tim, that he is taking all of his cars on the ring! Plus he really massively improved his Ring skills compared to two years ago.
finally this video is out~the GT sounds way better than I thought from behind.
The titanium exhaust definitely does it a lot of favours in that department!
Yeah, the exhaust Tim got installed for it REALLY helped improve the sound.
All about that exhaust
Yeah i think thats the American spec exhaust.
@@razatiger22 It was an option in US indeed, from Akrapovic😊
Another proof you don’t have to spend a fortune to have fun on the track. I bet that GTI driver will still tell his grandkids that he passed Shmee‘s Ford GT.
He must have had a smile from ear to ear after that drive.
Amazing how fast modern cars can go.
This is the guys video from the Gti 👍ua-cam.com/video/AyliZkcTG0I/v-deo.html
That must be modified
He passed cause Shmee let hin 😂
Tim’s ford gt is absolutely stunning just the way the liquid red shines in the sunlight is amazing
It's an absolutely beautiful colour, I agree
That Ford Gt is definitely one of the best looking supercar. Simply stunning!
Nice and low
Super car is big words can’t not even beat the baby Ferrari , but in the movie they can 😂😂😂
@@mauriziodileo6659
It best Ferrari
@mauriziodileo6659 I hope you are joking. Ferrari can't beat a gt on the track.
Having Tim's car in front really made this video more interesting. I usually get bored after a few minutes of track videos but I watched all of this.
A lot of track vids can get boring quick!!!! Glad you’ve enjoyed it:-)
Great stuff. Thanks, Robert and Shmee...and that mystery GTI driver. :)
I was watching that gti for a while then you mentioned him behind you hahaha
He had most fun of all
I was thinking “I wonder what these other drivers think seeing a GT and a Pista fly by them.” and then a few moments later you mentioned the GTI.
The GTI driver will likely remember that lap for a long time. Good on ya for letting him have some fun.
Following cars like the Pista and GT is brilliant as everybody jumps out of the way 😂
Same when following Porsches lol
My fiancé really enjoyed that video as she has a Mk5 GTI herself and realises how capable it is now even if you were taking your time 😋
@@RobertMitchell did you or Tim get a chance to chat with him after that? He looked like he was having a BLAST trailing you guys!
Robert, that was wicked for a Sunday afternoon. Tim is gaining some Jedi driving powers from you. Cheers Robert.
He’s improving each trip!
What fun. I had noticed that GTI in the mirror - I thought, wow, even though you were just "cruising", it's still pretty impressive he was able to hang like that in a GTI (not saying anything bad about a GTI, saying a lot about the driver).
Seeing the active aero on the GT was pretty cool. I hadn't realized it was that aggressive.
What gimbal are you using - it works really well without any weird artifacts, even through the carousels.
It’s GoPro 8 stabilization
That VW was an absolute weapon out there!
I've never really seen that angle of the GTs air brake in action. Very cool!
Takes some guts to drive that Ford GT on the ring, arguably the most expensive thing driving on the road that day, current values of well over a million dollars.
This Gen of Ford GT is such a beautiful piece
100%
Ford versus Ferrari 2 - fun mini sequel to the movie, ha ha...
Ford GT is a spaceship, unbelievably good looking.
The 488 Pista is such a dream car. And to drive along with Tims Ford GT is just amazing.
6:26 Ford-Ferrari-VW Begins.
Hehe he had some fun for sure
Kudos to who ever they are, keeping up in an under powered car.
Wow that white gti was really impressive! that person had a great drive!
goddamn the GT looks beautiful from behind, even more when it's moving, constantly changing lights source, the wings moving, it's great to see this different perspective from Shmee's video.
All true!
Gotta admit that the GT's straight line speed and acceleration is amazing :-)
Yeah, either that or Robert wasn't givin it the beans like he usually does cos the GT seems to catapult out of the corners n gain some distance every time
It’s quick but I’m not on it In this video either
@@rahulsudhir666 yeah 647bhp Vs 710ps
@@el7284 the special editions have 660 and I think 2019 or 2020+ have the HP bump
Fairplay Shmee for driving that thing, pretty well if i may say so. Was good to see the GT in front. It does look pretty sick especially in race mode. Shmee is improving every lap. Again respect to both of you for not having garage queens.
That GTi was ripping !
Just love both of these guys enthusiasm and down to earth approach. Really cool they take time to put these together for those of us who cannot experience it in person!
Fun fact: that was actually the 2nd time that golf had fun with a shmeemobile 😄
I hope he lets you drive it one day. That would be so awesome to see
I have no idea who you are but it's nice to see a guy who really knows how to drive a supercar. It's usual to see the super rich treat their supercars like toys in the sand box but it's rare to see someone who knows how to drive. If anyone deserves to own a supercar, it's you. You were driving the Ferrari 488 Pista close to 200 mph around dips and curves and it looked like you were driving a Cadillac to church.
Thx David. I couldn’t Own them if I could not track them. Just not the same:-)
Oh man that GTI playing chase! i wish i was that guy
Would be interesting to get your opinion on the Ford GT, ask Tim to track his Ford.
The Ford GT looks SOOOOO good and looks right at home on the track! Tim's confidence out on the track has grown quite a bit... he looked pretty good out there. Robert, hopefully we'll get to see you drive a Ford GT out on The Ring one of these days. I certainly would love to see what you could do with this magnificent car, because it was indeed built to be a race car first. In the hands of a capable driver like yourself, it should put down some impressive lap times.
Nice lap but we all know the gti guy is the true hero here 😄
100%!
Awesome look at the GT from the Pista. Tim's spec looks great. Driving is skill really progressing. Neat to hear the GT squeal as it powers out of the carouse.
Hey Robert, could you do a video on car alignments. What you tend to change (toe and camber) and how this affects the handling characteristics. When would I know alignment needs changing over other suspension settings?
P.S loving the content and your expertise
Yea this would be great 👍
This is a big subject though. It would probably take a series.
Yes ,so can we put these figures on our cars.......in PS4-Granturismo😂😂😂😂
Joao Guerreiro, Ok, so since you asked some specific questions, I’ll give it a shot, and hopefully Robert will give his perspective as well. I’m just going to focus on alignment though because that is a huge topic as it is, but I’ll try to explain the basics.
The goals for a track (performance) alignment can be very different from that of a road car (street driving). For example, on a race car, you will want a little toe-in on the rear because that gives you straight-line stability and better cornering (and a street car is basically the same), but you will want toe-out on the front (like 1 to 2 mm, depending on the track). This is the opposite of a street car, where you have a little toe-in on the front too. Toe-out on the front will make the car feel “darty,” and that’s not something you want in a street car-especially with the crowning on roads for water drainage, etc, because that will accentuate the pull toward the side of the road! For the track though, a little toe-out will give you great turn-in and better cornering. Camber is very different on the track too. You will have MUCH higher negative camber settings for track driving because your cornering speeds will be much higher. You will generally run 3 1/2 - 3 7/8 degrees negative camber on the front and 3 - 3 1/4 degrees on the rear, depending on your tires and the track conditions (much less for rain though). Again, it depends on the track too. You can hone in on some good settings by checking tire temperatures with a pyrometer. When you come in from a race or practice session, etc, you can use a pyrometer to test the temperatures of the inside, middle, and outside of the tire contact patches to see if you have too much or too little camber, etc. If the temps are higher on the inside than the outside of the contact patch, you have too much negative camber, for example. The goal is to have maximum average contact patch on the track surface during cornering.
Then there is caster. You actually set the caster first when doing an alignment, but since you generally don’t change the caster once it is set correctly, you make caster adjustments pretty infrequently (unless you are doing something that would change it, like changing the ride height).
Once you set the caster, you will need to redo camber and toe, and every time you modify camber or toe, it will change the other. So, it becomes an iterative process with camber and toe, but you do learn how to get it close pretty quickly after you have been doing it a while.
There are also things to take into consideration when you are thinking about what alignment you want based on general suspension geometry. One example is to take into consideration the fact that positive caster (where the wheel hub is in front of the top of the strut tower) has a wheel-straightening effect-the more positive, the more the steering wheel wants to straighten itself out when you let go of it in a turn. Too much positive caster will make the steering heavy though (as well as having other effects). Positive caster will also add negative camber to the outside wheel in a turn (which is good!), but that means you should take that into account when setting your front static camber.
There are, of course, other setups between normal street driving and racing, so you can also do an intermediate setup, like an aggressive street setup for a road-legal sports car that you drive on backroads or take to the track on weekend track days, etc.
This was really just an introduction/overview, but I hope it helps you understand the basic practical decisions you make when doing a high-performance alignment.
981porsche what’s your background? Are u just an enthusiast or do u have experience in this industry?
Great to see the Pista and GT out together. Was never really a fan of the GT until watching Shmee’s adventures with the car, especially his USA trip, now I have grown very fond of it. Would rate it higher than the Senna.
I’ve never liked the look of that Ford GT, but it’s great to see Tim’s confidence growing. However, it really emphasizes just how important experience is when a Golf GTi can keep up with a Ford GT.
It’s an interesting car. At the moment I’m leaning on the side of liking it haha
Experience on the ring is everything
I watch the drive and didnt see the gti keeping up with the ford and he onlt passed after they slowed down.
Tim & you are really good Around the nuremburg ring. I never get tired of watching you two and Misha.
Tim is going to have a lot of fun working on his line, and his confidence. 👍
Yes I think he’s enjoying it
people regularly ask if photos of the Ford GT are photoshopped, it's just that low in race mode
It’s just that low
He wasn't in race mode.
@@aiGeis you can see Tim dropping the car into track mode at the start of his video
@@aiGeis he did, that's why it scraped it during that run.
As many laps as I’ve ever seen, this one is by far my favourite! Thank you both!
Glad you enjoyed it:-)
Cool Video! I choose it before watching the F1 Highlights when I have seen it. - Cool to see Shmee improve with nearly every lap he does. It really helps him in the future with his reviews. - Can I see now Robert with the GT making around, please?
Would be a fun experiment no doubt
@@RobertMitchell That would be really great. I always wanted to hear a valuable opinion about this car. Multimatic does normally really great stuff. Combined with the Nürburgring challenge a cool event. Aero, Suspension, Balance - all things of interest.
Pleasantly surprised by the Ford GT, had some real punch coming out of some of those corners! Tims driving skills are constantly improving! Robert you are a superb driver! I used to race cars myself so you can always spot guys who have been around the block a bit 😁👍
You have no idea. If factory race driver was
Behind wheel. You would hear engine at
Full song.
Awesome behind the wheel footage of the Ferrari pista 😊
Reminded me of racing my friend over 30 years ago!
But I was in a Vauxhall Chevette & him in a Austin Metro.
We weren’t quite up to your speed though!
🤣
Hahaha. Still fun tho:-)
I used to have a Morris Ital and would race a friend with a Chevette. He always had just a slight edge. At those slow speeds, you could be on the limit and still be relatively safe.
We need to see that GT in the hands of our tame racing driver... some say...
Hahahah
That'd be rly nice
that he seduced Bruce jenner in a marshmellow factory, and that he has 3 testicles, all we know is, he called The Stig
That guy in the GTi got confident, cause when you passed him! You have started to showing him the proper racing line on da Ring to be feeling comptfterbal! Which he didn't know before! But, Tim and you Robert, had fun on those whips!!!
Thank you, it was fun watching you drive and just as much fun getting a rare view from the outside of Tim and his GT on track! Thanks again.
Merci Robert. Images superbes! Magnifique! Formidable!
a sight to behold .... two of the most beautiful cars ever built driving together on the nurburg ring
The Ford GT looks insane!
GTi driver had skills. You guys were not slow and he was doing well to keep pace. Great vid as always Robert!
Props to Tim for coming such a long way since he started out. Great safe driving the two of you.......
ONE OF MY ALL TIME GREAT RING LAPS! ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL DAY!!
My brother in law owns a 812 Super fast 599 GTO, just took delivery Pista Spyder, but doesn’t want to drive the cars on the ring 😩 fair play for driving these cars for what they were designed and developed for , total respect ✊
Thx man. A lot of owners are worried about using cars on track and especially the ring. I can understand but I’d own less of them and use them for what they are ;-)
This video was very enjoyable! Not only did we get to observe your driving, but we also got to compare the Ford GT as well. Hope you do more of these!
Love the difference in drivers and the different lines and how visible those factors are!! Great vid!
I was never a fan of the new GT design but I couldn't take my eyes off the thing in action on the ring. nice video.
You and me both! looked so cool from behind
Thoroughly enjoyed watching front and rear cams! Just a nice halfway spirited drive. The GTI was green in envy, he had the best view
We need to know who was driving that white polo
So cool. Tim's car looks like a spaceship. Your lines were pretty different. Really fun.
I think that Robert should make a video on a few laps in the GT.
Would love to
I vote for that
Great respect to Tim taking some of his best cars to lap the ring. Think he is starting to get addicted.😃 Lots of pressure on him being followed and on camera. He's going to get much quicker with some more time. Very tidy driver.
Ford GT in white- is just the best colour.. can see all the design lines and moulds , I like the racing lines that you take Robert , must be so used to the track ;)
Thanks for sharing. Nice Sunday night viewing
Beautiful to see these 2 beauties out on track 👌🏻
What about the sound from that V6 Ecoboost coupled with the Akrapovic exhaust!
Sounds really good !
You guys were also driving at like 5 10nths that polo was having a absolute blast keeping up though great content it's on my bucket list for sure,.. from America.
Was so fun having him behind:-). Hope all is well there in the US:!!
Loved seeing the GT pull away from the Pista. Amazing power Ford got out of that V6.
It’s great seeing Tim enjoying his Hypercars on track.
The GT doesn’t sound special, the Pista has a similar exhaust tone.
Looks like you made the GTi driver’s day! 👍🏼
He really had so much fun that gti!
They should have something like this in the States!!! Such a smooth road it looks like fun and you don’t have to worry about speeding!!!
It’s a dream
Great Video thank you for posting. I love both Cars. 🙂👍👍👍👍👍✅
Little bit of a cruisy lap? Haha. Good one! 💪😎
Lovely ride boys .. that cam on the engine is sooo nice to see
That was an absolute blast!
Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Very nice. GT40 looks very composed in track mode, although it looked a little nervous in the earlier section where it was bumpy.
Perhaps the tires hadn't fully warmed up.
The Pista looked a lot more comfortable through Karussell.
That active spoiler... so awesome.
Two beautiful cars nice weather nice vid. Ford versus ferrari all over again
This was really cool. Loved watch you two scooting are the ring. WOW!
Mrjww and his "bunker" with a gocart track seems pretty hapless now :^)
Still wouldn’t mind seeing his little track :-)

Brilliant video Robert. Glad to see Tim using the GT for what it was made for. ✅✔✅✔😊....
What a stand up guy Mr. Robert Mitchell. Thank you for your illustrations of s good sportsman.
New to your channel.
I was hoping you'd show the GT going into race mode at the entry booms :') Cool lap though.
I know Tim put his foot flat on some corner exits and to see the Pista having to part throttle even then just shows how immense its acceleration is.
that was a great video and very cool perspective. you are the first of tim's friends that i decided to follow. keep up the hard work.
Absolutely brilliant as per usual - thanks so much for sharing Robert - Phenomenal driving, sounds and cars - love how you can still hear Tim’s GT exhaust alongside that of the Pista - both cars have some serious go in them - Very Toey!😈😂
Alright, it's settled, I'm going for a drive today. :)
Another beautiful video of some beautiful lines on a beautiful track on a beautiful day. Thanks, Robert!
Gotta give props to Tim, he has really improved his driving on the Ring!
Also, that air brake is DOPE.
Brilliant to see the gt and the pista going round the nurburgring the gt looks so good cheers steve 😀👍
Love the aggressiveness of the Pista shifts! Let’s you know you changed gears.
Wow the GT looks so good surprised how well it stuck to everything. Would love to see you drive Tim's red focus RS think you really enjoy it.
I think the RS is pretty damn cool too!!
it´s so sick how fast a cruise is and how ´effortless´ it looks (driving skills put aside, as well as the $ bills)
Hey Robert if you can add km / h graphics to the video, it would be interesting to see the difference between your "slow" fun and fast laps and cornering speed😉😎✌
I’ll see what I can do:-). I think it would be that the back cam goes away if the Speedo came in
