I love this!!! I try to remind myself that even our healing will not be perfect. At times I feel like our efforts are a major step back but then we always end up a bit stronger and more aware after taking that step.
@darlene.michaud my husband saved me and I saved him, at times I didn't think we would make it, but the healing continues...30 years in and sometimes we still struggle with our demons. Never stop working.

Nurse here that worked 35 years in Alcohol and Drug Rehab...part of my job was leading the AA ,Al-Anon and CODA meetings on the units. I learned the 12 Steps and Traditions can be applied to anyone and their life. At age 70 I continue to read Melody Beattie books and follow the Steps for a Peaceful life. May you find Peace in your life.

Since I have been practicing these concepts, it is amazing how FREE I feel in my Spirit.

I was curious but knew that when you were ready you would tell us/or not! As for still having Rocket, I just thought that either Joe was somewhere that he couldnt have Rocket yet and you were still babysitting or you were just very attached to Rocket and you and Joe were working that out. So many things she says and does take me right back to my little self and how scared I was. You have helped me in so many ways and for that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Sending kind thoughts your way dear. I’m the daughter of an alcoholic. He did sober up with the help of AA. Al-anon and Al-ateen played major roles in my life. Personally I have not had issues with alcohol, however, the fellowship, the sharing, the serenity prayer - life changing. (I too feel like an only child - my only sibling is 10 years older). Also, my higher power choice is not typical. I say all of that to sum up, you gotta live the program and work it the way it works for you. I work very hard on keeping negativity out of my path. I can not change others, but I sure as heck can change my path and make sure it doesn’t cross the negativity. I seek joy and happiness. Big hugs! May you find much joy and happiness! Darlene,, i took the photo of Joe and Rocket, exactly how you apparently meant for it to come across! I saw it and thought you were back together and you were giving us a hint/clue! I was curious but knew that when you were ready you would tell us/or not! As for still having Rocket, I just thought that either Joe was somewhere that he couldnt have Rocket yet and you were still babysitting or you were just very attached to Rocket and you and Joe were working that out. Either way I knew that this is your private life,, none of my business what so ever and I would never dream of questioning you.! People are awful and judgemental. Darlene, I can relate to you in so many ways and I thank you for your your honesty. I had a rough life with my Mom and I’m 65 and she is still very scary to me (she’s 90). So many things she says and does take me right back to my little self and how scared I was. You have helped me in so many ways and for that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Sending kind thoughts your way dear. I’m the daughter of an alcoholic. He did sober up with the help of AA. Al-anon and Al-ateen played major roles in my life. Personally I have not had issues with alcohol, however, the fellowship, the sharing, the serenity prayer - life changing. (I too feel like an only child - my only sibling is 10 years older). Also, my higher power choice is not typical. I say all of that to sum up, you gotta live the program and work it the way it works for you. I work very hard on keeping negativity out of my path. I can not change others, but I sure as heck can change my path and make sure it doesn’t cross the negativity. I seek joy and happiness. Big hugs! May you find much joy and happiness!
