Hi, sweet pup Rocket. It's 1:50 AM and I woke up to the most wonderful sound .... intense rain pounding on the metal roof of my tiny house. Darlene, thank you for sharing your thoughts about your not being able to say no. It took me decades to realize that I was allowed to say no. Being raised by a strict, demanding, 'don't you dare embarrass me', career military father turned me into an anxious people pleaser. That and the horrific Catholic guilt ruined the first half of my life so very much. As an old lady I have learned to treat myself like I would treat a child in pain.

I totally know your distress! I find when I learn these things about myself, I know too much to be comfortable with old habits, but it's fucking hard to feel right about getting out of my head and make different choices! Oldest of five kids in a dysfunctional family, caretaker, caregiver, people-pleaser, overachiever, responsible for the sun rising, and finally learning to take responsibility for getting out of my self-made misery. I sure know . I have had to be an adult at 11 years old. My mother left me by trying to starve herself to death. Awful awful day coming home from school to see people taking her away. One year later she never recovered. It was me and her till she passed. I am 64 today. Loved this talk. ❤ I will keep you posted on finding that good man. Omg yes i have vertigo and your eyes play a big part in it. Have more more fun.

I have now been by myself for the past 15 years and have learned that if I go with the flow, believing that God has a new plan for me to follow, it generally works out to be that way. So when things happen that my plans change I now believe that it all has been worked out in a better way for me and I can actually give myself permission to alter my own plans. For me, it has backfired big time at least 6 times in my life…ending with the friend getting mad at me and that was the end of that friendship. Try giving yourself permission to be spontaneous with Joe. I was married for 45 years to my best friend. He passed away 5 years ago. I often dropped everything to go do stuff with him. We had fun. I am blessed with those memories. In the long run, everything I dropped to be with him got done anyway. I learned to give myself permission for things when I was frustrated with a boss. She happened to give me a book to read about how to improve your life. What I got out of the book was that if your life isn't everything you want it to be, give yourself permission to make the changes you need to improve things. Even though I had a kid in college and one in high school, I gave myself permission to quit that job! Wasn't long after that, I got another job that had more room for growth and much better benefits, including a pension. Give yourself permission to go with Joe and have fun. You deserve it.

I had worked with my husband on roofs years ago, We used a hammer and nails. Not a nail gun. We had someone work on our home here and used a nail gun and missed so many shingles and when we had wind and storms so many came off. Glad you are having fun. Remind him to ask you if you had plans for that day? Would that help any? That is hard for you living by yourself for so long not easy.
I pussyfooted all my childhood and early adulthood years because of a hardcore drunk father. Once I married and left home I told him off and still he tried to control me. My only relief came when he passed away. I became a controller in my new family and it has taken years and years to stop. I pray for patience all the time and at 85 I think I have mastered it.
I am the same way we need to be OK with ownership of our own time and needs. As my friend says we are grown ass women and that is why.... I am still on January's block so girl go out go with Joe it will help my guilt for being so behind lol😅

Even after so many years together, I feel such guilt if I say no. I have improved, but I will torture him about it, lol. I sometimes think there's got to be something wrong with me, why do I torture him and myself...let it go, Lisa and be happy! It probably all stems from insecurity, what a damn shame.

I've been listening to all of your videos & I'm curious are you a Virgo, meaning were you born in Late August or Sept? My father was born in Sept the 9th & he was a lot like you, he was very meticulous or let's just say that he expected things to be in order. I didn't really like it at the time, but I learned a lot from him, I was the only sibling out of 3 sisters & 3 brothers, that helped my parents. I never really felt that either one of them ever really appreciated anything that I did for them, but I will say that I did learn quite a bit, infact once I was out on my own, I got jobs easily, because I had paid attention to detail with my dad about what he taught me, he taught me about electronics, about taking TV'S apart, ones that didn't work or even radios & stereos. I got jobs, at a time when hardly anyone actually had experience with Printed Circuit Boards, I had to assemble them, I learned a lot about electric components, that had to be soldered onto those boards. My dad also taught me to be quality minded, he was very particular & wanted things put in the place, it wasn't fun at all, but I learned a lot from him, not so much from my mother as she wouldn't even let any of us 4 girls in the kitchen, but somehow I became a great cook, I enjoy cooking, my mother was hard to please & to get along with, what's so odd is I am the only one that looked like her, with hazel eyes & the darker brown hair, all 3 of my sisters had lighter brown hair & blue eyes, like my dad. Well anyhow I just was wondering if you are a Virgo sign, it seems like you are, let me know, ok? Hey guess what, my dad used to take me with him to the dump as well, he told me to rummage around for good things, he could sell in their 2nd hand store, I enjoyed it, I found tons of awesome stuff & would get paid for it, by my dad giving me books I love to read, a smartie too, when I was in 1st grade I was sent into 4th grade reading class. My dad also taught me to be quality minded, he was very particular & wanted things put in the place, it wasn't fun at all, but I learned a lot from him, not so much from my mother as she wouldn't even let any of us 4 girls in the kitchen, but somehow I became a great cook, I enjoy cooking, my mother was hard to please & to get along with, what's so odd is I am the only one that looked like her, with hazel eyes & the darker brown hair, all 3 of my sisters had lighter brown hair & blue eyes, like my dad.
