  • I bought the Flamma Mini Modulation pedal off Amazon in an attempt to create a very strange modulation-based pedal board for my current rig build.
    Turns out this thing sounds GREAT, especially for the price! I'll be using it for the oddball effects that are included more than the chorus, flanger, or other simple mod effects.
    The main reason I wanted to give this effect a try is because of the "Low bit" setting that basically turns your guitar into an old-school video game sound library. It's super easy to get this thing sounding like a broken NES or a strange old synth and I'll be using those setting extensively with guitar and bass both.
    Here's the link to the pedal:
    www.amazon.com...
    Next up I am testing another cheap pedal, this time we'll be doing some pitch shifting with an octave pedal. stay tuned to see how the rest of the rig comes together

    This "Thing" is enough to gag a maggot. Someone paid what for it & then has the poor taste to put it on the internet. This is to be sacred ground where we celebrate the great gear, not the trash no one can make sense of. I do not even want to know who is responsible. UA-cam takes down some "Violent Gun Videos" and yet UA-cam allows this suicidle garbage to be shown with out any legitimate warning from a medical doctor? This is far more sick, twisted and dangerous.

      "Dangerous"; wow. You flat-earthers born 6 months ago crack me up. You're still free to do your safe, normal mainstream 90% hip hop/10% "rock" which sounds like everything else man-buns who live in their mom's McMansion boringly churn out. Stay adventurous and open-minded, now. Hendrix and Jim Morrison would be so proud of youuuu.

    We need more vids like this. Some of these modern players are so narrow minded and need to step out of the "Boss zone". Vast amounts of gear=all records sound the same these days.

      I agree! I've never been patient enough to become an particularly skilled player, but over the years I've come to amass a fair amount of trivia and appreciation for all the WEIRD things that get done in the name of music, and the alternate pathways to unique tones.

      I used to watch a lot of guitar pedal videos, and you'd swear that nearly all guitar music was just blues sweeps. I kind of just gave up watching them, but this video is pretty good.

    Bro get you a tube amp. You'll never look back. It's not like playing them in the store. At home you come to realize how incredibly good tube amps are and the huge benefits from using them. I used to be right where your at. It took a buddy making me borrow his Tone King Imperial. I was truly spoiled. Tube amps do another thing I never expected. They take pedals WAY BETTER than SS. No disrespect intended my friend. Just a suggestion.

    • @junc_musik
      @junc_musik  11 місяців тому

      Hey no disrespect taken, I have owned a few tube amps over the years and intend to add one to the permanent collection at some point but I do have a personal preference for solid state as my go-to for a couple of reasons
      -Tube amps sound GREAT with minimal rigs. You can't beat the warmth of a tube amp or how they react to a guitar plugged straight in to them. However, I find that the more pedals and stuff in between the guitar and amp, especially buffered pedals, the less of a difference it makes and the more I'm looking for fidelity, rather than an amp that has its own strong flavoring to give. Since I tend to play lots of weird and cheap stuff through them, I've been as happy playing a preamp DI'ed through a PA as much as any amp with such a rig
      -and also I'm forgetful and often broke, so the ongoing maintenance and tube replacements have me err towards the reliability of a solid state amp. Over the years when I was younger I'd only own one or two amps so I needed them to never be down over a burnt tube
      Though like I said, I plan to add one to the arsenal now that the collection has grown
      I appreciate the feedback

    Great review... love all those "silly noises" ... I think I'm in the same quest as you, not expensive pedals that make weird noises... but for now my next acquisition (not cheap but) will be a Digitech Freqout... I really need those feedbacks for some songs. Great job again... cheers from France

      Have you ever tried one? I never, just watch a bunch of demos, but there are lots of Filter(a band that I'm a big fan) songs that have very controlled feedback so I'm sure I can do it with one... but is so expensive and when it pops at a local market place for a decent price it sells in milliseconds, still waiting for one...just like you said, and I feel the same, I'm not that prepared to spent too much on pedals, boutique or not @@junc_musik

    This is definitely one of the most useful pedals on my board. I'm actually thinking about getting a second one. My favorite FX on it are the stutter, the liquid, and the rotary I think theya re the most useful. The bit crush is pretty awesome but at some setting it makes some really dissonant overtones (for better or worse). Flamma makes a headphone amp FX10 which is under a hundred bucks and it's absolutely amazing.

    If you're looking for more ring-mod songs, the guitar solo for Paranoid uses it on one channel. Needs to be faster than how you had it though.

  • @Herfinnur
    @Herfinnur 11 місяців тому +2

    Ringmods are great for very specific song hooks, but few do that as well as Radiohead or Incubus (I imagine bands such as Mr. Bungle would also nail it). It's just difficult and takes deliberation and a calm mind.
    Anyways, I noticed that I've already watched three of your videos without realizing they're from the same channel, so I might as well subscribe. You should make sure your face is in every thumbnail so we all realize it's the same channel. The UA-cam algorithm certainly seems to like you, so help it along
