This project will raise electricity rate at most of 2% to urban areas upwards to 10% in rural areas. The greater outlook of having the largest ev battery producer in the world located in Kansas will be better for the state in the long run.
Its both very exciting and very scary all of the change that is coming to De Soto. I really hope the city uses the tax dollars in a way that helps the city grow, like connecting the mish-mashed network of sidewalks. The biggest thing they've announced is a $3 million dollar renovation to city hall which isn't very encouraging
I predict it never starts producing anything or last about 3 years. Expecting starting wages is around $30hr Johnson County, KS is by far the most expensive county to live in Kansas Average home prices are around $450K. That Factory will require the same amount of power as one major city. The price of electricity & water is going to skyrocket for residence that will surely be forced to subsides the plants electricity usage and water. God forbid it, but if that factory ever catches fire the entire town of Desoto and surrounding cities of 100k plus are screwed. EV vehicles have never taken off as expected and the need for this factory does not exist. It is still heavily relaying on raw materials from overseas that now have to be shipped all the way to the middle of the county to be assembled. This is only going to add to cost from a product you can already get from other manufactures.
If our government has the determination and guts to support the development of EV, things could change rapidly. Just look at China, their new energy vehicle sale accounts for 50%+ already.
heres how u do it carlie. example ill buy 3 acres next to rattlesnake hill for lets say 40k cash. then i turn it into 4 lots and sale sale each lot to schumacher for 20k each. they build on it. i pocket 40k towards your new truck its like i work for free
I used to live behind that Ford dealership. In that great American bank parking lot is where the undocumented migrant workers would get together every Friday and and hold a lottery, since they can’t have a bank account and hoarding large amounts of cash is risky. this would get them the money to make large purchases without
It’s just…so…weird. I grew up one mile due north of the plant. You can see it from Dad’s house. When we moved there in the late 1980s, De Soto was considered the armpit of Johnson County. But I loved it there. I was the last class to graduate from the high school that is now Lexington Trails. I have mixed feelings about the plant. It’s a huge win for De Soto and that makes me happy. However, it has drastically changed the landscape of the area. Acres of farmland I used to bike by are now leveled and turned into warehouses. Large power lines run where trees once stood. It’s just kind of sad seeing the memories of my childhood being overhauled and industrialized.
Clearview city used to be the city in Johnson County where people that got out of prison would go. Since there is no police in Desoto or Clearview, the sheriff was only allowed in if they were called.

This project raised the price of electricity in the entire metro kansas and missouri, 🎉 that's exactly what we all need, higher bills.
These companies need to need to help pay and invest in infrastructure

A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing
I’m so excited for all of these projects!! I love growth! Growing cities are the best!
I used to live in nearby Eudora back in the 1990s/Early 2000s. Crazy how much is changing in that area.
I built that 💪🏿
We've already seen what this has done to Nevada, the cost of living exploded and is out of control for everyone living anywhere in the state now.

It's the Green New Scam! Expect rolling brownouts, and a new high voltage overhead power line in your area.

Hope they have alternate plans for the site. EV’s are dead.

Don't do it Desoto. All those people aren't worth it.
This is Amazing 😻
Did you mean half a million? Not half a billion
u cant find a 3 bedroom with basement for 600 mos. i gave sams pizza owner 140k for the house ,just put it in mirandas name then
This will destroy the area. We're already planning on selling our home and moving elsewhere.
Parks? This project has gutted some existing parks.
😂
Nothing clean about mining lithium. Win for DeSoto though.
The economy is cratering while this project is going on. Don't get your hopes up.
