It is so sad that not many people know how awesome the street stock is on road courses
I don’t have a pedal clutch, and have watched Dave’s video from about a year ago on the speed difference between auto clutch on or off, I’d be losing 12 seconds+ each lap. 🥲
I know, last season for week 13 that had a series that was street stock on a new road course everyday. It was awesome.

@@Rhythmic_Hammer you also run the risk of just blowing the engine if you miss a shift lol. I was doing the MX5 cup and some guy using the H shifter right behind me blew his engine, at first I thought I might have bumped him into the wall or something. After watching the replay tho you can hear the car wanting to go into 4th gear but I think he put it into 2nd cause the car just went bang and that was it lol.

Gave you a like just for the intro haha, first tried the street stock in week 13, its probably the most fun I have had on iRacing.
I need to spend time on Nords, I havent done much driving on it at all and the RingMeister series seems to be really busy for most weeks. Great video as always Dave! All the best!

Alright Dave… you convinced me. The anxiety you spoke of is the reason I have not tried this series this week. My all time favorite track but the car just downright scared me I guess
This was a fun combo last night.
I'd love to see this in real life. I'm going to have to try it later. I finally got my clutch and shifter setup again and I've been having a blast driving the FF1600 and the Mustang.

Man I’m bummed because I was in this split but ran the road setup so my top speed was ~12mph less than the rest… went from p8-p15 😂 good race though! And happy we had a quick fight before the field flew by me!

@@thargor6750 I found one on garage61 called “nord_q”. It was a qualifying setup so you’ll have to add fuel to it for the race but I found it to be pretty good! Got p2 the next race with a 7:56:40 fastest lap. Not sure if it’s the best, but it at least let me hit 140+ mph!

I ran it yesterday, and same thing. I need to find a better setup, people are flying by on the straights.

I very much appreciate that you actually lift off the throttle when you shift gears. Most people that drive manual cars on iRacing just leave the throttle pinned and let the engine bounce off the limiter. It really irks me lol!

Trying to figure out the shifting. I keep having times where I'll shift up to 4th and nothing. No throttle, full clutch, check the shifter, nothing.
Am I just crazy or does this thing just not shift sometimes? Nothing wrong with my shifter and zero issues running H pattern on any other sim.

Are you still using your new Simlab XP1 pedals for heal/toe, or are you back on your Heusinkveld ? Just wonder on how you've found the XP1s. I've found that they don't work great for heal/toe for me. I have trouble getting to the throttle, since the pedal's so short. I've actually just printed up a pedal cover that makes the throttle pedal longer, which is working much better.
Yes, still using the xp1 pedals. I find it ok, I just need more practice 😁
did you change your gear ratio in anyway? my car always topped out at 215 km/h.
I don’t bother with the clutch on downshifts, just give the throttle a good stab.
Dave, excellent race! What are thoughts on starting out Sim Racing with a motion system? Watching this race, I would think motion would be distracting for someone starting out. I take it you use a stationary rig given you are producing content. Thanks.
Motion is great but less is definitely more. At trade shows and the sim racing expo they have them turned up to 11 which is fun for 5 minutes but not sure if want that all the time. Little subtle movement would be nice but not sure it's worth the cost just for that.

@@dbzcollector9963 ya…. Stupid fanatec shifter has done that before. Put it in 3rd and it asked “did you mean 1st?” Hahaha so now I regularly take off the top and clean it and recalibrate…
@@the_real_beaker_ haha I tried learning to race with an H pattern shifter in AC and I would always blow my engine so I never really tried it in iracing I was too scared 🤣🤣
FYI the cooling systems on these cars are made of glass. If you get a knock on the nose you will eventually overheat and blow the engine.

It was super fun until My engine blew up when oil temps spiked!! Not sure what happened but SR and IR got killed by a the 30 minute repair!!

His actual best laps weren't counted due to an off track or similar
Probably due to lap invalidation due to incidents

I think all the tracks the street stocks run on have lighting so they don't need headlights.

It ain't NASCAR, NASCAR doesn't run this in any of their officially sanctioned series. It's just called a stock car lol. Not sure how the light decals came to be other than keeping a recognizable manufacturer on a custom-built car though.
