- The Korean K5 or DP51 was the pistol adopted by the South Korean armed forces and had a following among collectors and enthusiasts. The design was proven and reliable and had some unique features. However like many classics, the design and features became dated. Enter Lionheart Industries, the REGULUS Blackout Alpha is an update to the classic design adding reliability, improved recoil spring system and things the modern buyer looks for like increased capacity magazines and a light rail. Plus, it shoots really well at the range!

Made here in Georgia. Been wanting to pick up one of these since I heard about them. Now I'm just waiting until they release an Optic ready version.
I know there are some 40 S&W haters out there. But its my favorite cartridge. When Lionheart makes a 40 S&W, I'll purchase a Lionheart because it's a well made product. My range buddy has one and it's nice.

I have the earlier DP51, and fast-action is how I carry it when I do. As a left-handed shooter, it is a good compromise. The older DPI barrels were not super accurate, but were okay. LHI has apparently greatly improved the accuracy. The Mecgar 15-round 5900-series mags will fit in the older DP51, but stick out the bottom. The LHI proprietary 15-round mag baseplates fit on these mags.
The Regulus is basically a reimagining and not many of the other parts are interchangeable with the old DP51. But it will have much better machining and tighter tolerances (and hence better accuracy).

The pushing down of the hammer isn't a new idea. The Browning Hi-Power had this called Safety Fast Shooting system (SFS). BHP Solutions still sells the kit too.

I would much rather have the old Daewoo dp51 style without all the extra milling for around $375 versus this thing. I would buy the old style right now without any updates if it was at a reasonable price... Instead they are putting lipstick on this pig and expecting it to win in this super crowded market. I was too young the 1st time those dp51s came in but have some buddies that love them. They got them for like $200 back in the day. They are going after the exact opposite market segment... Bring in the model with the least "upgrades" at the best price you can, and it might sell.
Edit: $1,000 for this gun on their website..... Absolutely no way. The only selling point is... It's different. I don't see them selling many of these. They may be popular on UA-cam where they give out free guns for reviews.... But they are just too expensive.
I didn’t get anything for free, I just got to shoot it and sending it back. I agree for the price it’s a crowded market and there are a lot of nice options in that price point.
If getting a review was as easy as offering free guns to UA-camrs, we’d have a lot more reviews, Cory. We value the integrity of those that choose to review our guns and are grateful for their thoughtful evaluation and opinions. We also recognize that price is an important factor for many customers, but we didn’t design the Regulus to meet a price point. Instead, we prioritized performance over price.
