+Miles Strand It actually makes more sense to demo this way because you are hearing the amp in the context of a mix rather than just against itself. These demos are more in a way for guys in bands looking for gear for in the studio and playing live rather than a bedroom player.
@@glenn2376 The difference is in the mids. The mini does not have the body in the lower mids that the full size has but the fullsize lacks some of the bite and air that the mini has. I think I actually slightly prefer the mini in this sinario but it is a close call for sure.
bakerXderek hey man how's it going, I got the head as well, but unsure what pedal I want. Did the maxon suck out your low end? Does your head have stock tubes? Thanks bud.
@jds, stock tubes and the Maxon is essential for the full crunchy chuggy metal riffs and just make the amp scream. Maxon in front of nearly any amp is the cherry on top.

reneG@de So I never understood this, but why do you need ten times the wattage to double the volume? Two 20 watt amps would be twice as loud as one 20 watt amp, so why wouldn't a 40 watt amp be twice as loud?
Nick Fenny No, two 20 Watt amps don't sound twice as loud as one. That's the weird thing about loudness in general. 10 dB more is perceived as doubling the loudness. However, two amps with, let's say 60 dB loudness won't be 120 dB loud in you use them both. The only real difference I can hear between those two is that the MH is a little tiny bit fizzier on the low ends... Oh, and it costs half the price lol

In order, my favorite: 6505MH 6505+ 6505MH boosted 6505+ boosted I think the MH sounds a little more raw and chunky. Boosting it makes it sound more compressed I think. I just don't like the pedal too much. They all sound good, though. The MH sounds best when he's playin' it by itself near the end of the video. I think it's the winner hands down at 2:30.
Mh is better. Doesn't have the unwanted bass end that'll just clutter up a mix. Also it's not 100 watts (or is the 6505 150?) and won't kill people with the volume at 2
The volume at 2 on the Plus wont kill anyone but sissies. It doesn't even start to get good until about 4 on the volume knob unless you are into preamp fizz. It takes a lot of volume to get 4 6L6s cooking. Volume on 2 is like foreplay for a Plus.
2:23 - 2:47 is all you need to really hear. I am blown away that the MH sounded a bit less muffled. I've always been a big proprietor of HeadroomHeadroomHeadroom for tight metal guitar. This wrecks my reality
The difference is so minor when you put them in a mix and is pretty marginal out of the mix. I recon the 6505MH and a set of new tubes is the way to go, especially when you factor in price.
I've got a UAD-2 Card and Blue Sky System 2.1 monitors, and I could not hear much of a difference between the two. But I also heard very little difference between the boosted vs non boosted recordings either. When you play the two with an amp switcher with the MH in 20w mode cranked up, the + has a little more bottom end which is to be expected, but it's not earth shattering. The MH really holds it's own against the +. The MH in 1w mode at bedroom volumes through Peavey's 1-12 cab, it sound amazing. I have mic'd this set up, and it sounded great, no one could tell it was a 1w amp played at bedroom volumes no louder than the TV. Peavey really hit a home run with this one.
I just played one trough a 4x12 cab. in the high watt settings it was fizzy at low volume (probably to be expected) since I couldn't crank it up :-(. Once I set it to 1 watt the fizzines went away and once i played around with the treble and presence controls I had an amazing tone. I love the resonance control, gives you lots of flexibility. Hey Fluff. I keep hearing people say that the clean channel on the 6505 series isn't that good. From the sounds I've been hearing out of it, I think it sounds pretty cool. I'm not too great with all the details of amps, but do you know why it gets so much flak for the clean channel?
I got the 6505mh for band practice and have an evh 5150 III and the 6505mh is super koi and heavy great practice amp if you don't want to haul along your full size amps
That 6505MH sounds pretty badass, if I didn't already own an Orange RV100 I might have considered getting one. Also, it sounded pretty similar to the 6505+ despite the pretty big difference in wattage.
They both are awesome. I have a mh with the matching 2x12 cab ordered. They are out of stock tho but as soon as more comes in they will be sending them out to me
Hello Fluff. Great video! How are you liking the all JJ set-up? I just got a 6505MH, and I'm considering re-tubing it with a cocktail of pre-amp and a matched set of power tubes. Though it does sound good stock. Thank you for all the awesome Videos. Beards!
6505MH definitely manages to keep up but I think the tube upgrades you've had done on the 6505+ make it sound so much better. Much more definition and low end with the 6505+
So, I notice the 6505 is much richer in the low end and smoother in the high-mids, can this be tweaked in on the MH or does the different power tube just shut out that option? In other words, can you tweak the MH to sound like the Plus or an EVH? How close can they get? Great video!
i got the peavey 6505mh a few months ago, and one of my tubes went bad pretty quick so i just got done swapping them out. But the problem is after about 30 minutes of playing my sensor is starting to blink a little. any suggestions? and yes i let my tubes heat up.
fluff. are we going to see a comparison of the new Peavey 6505 piranha vs the orange micro dark. maybe the 6505mh vs the Randall rd5 vs the Blackstar ht-5? is any of that in the works?
Hi Fluff, Would you share where you place your u87? You tone is the best high gain metal tone I've heard. I bought the 2x12 6505 cab. I'm getting the MH, too, when it's back in stock. I also got my hands on a u87 recently. Thanks.
There is a USB out on it, I was wondering if it is possible to reamp with it using the only USB (sending DI sound via USB and recording amplified sound via USB)?
Hey Fluff, you mentioned you had upgraded/fixed your tubes in the Peavey 6505+; do you have any advice when changing (upgrading) tubes/tube configuration (brands, sounds, etc)??? Thanks(:
Would have like of you did a play through of both with an amp switcher when they were NOT in the mix. I could still hear the difference, but the 6505+ seemed a little bit like it had a boosted high and low end, and this for me did not allow the mids to cut through fully (still sounded nice). The MH just cut a little more for me, I guess there was just less low end to eat up the middle frequencies. Great vid fluff.
I love the 6505 MH, its a monster considering its small size :)

Hello Fluff. Great video! How are you liking the all JJ set-up? I just got a 6505MH, and I'm considering re-tubing it with a cocktail of pre-amp and a matched set of power tubes. Though it does sound good stock. Thank you for all the awesome Videos. Beards!
I keep coming back for the song
Favourite strung out album/albums?
6505MH definitely manages to keep up but I think the tube upgrades you've had done on the 6505+ make it sound so much better. Much more definition and low end with the 6505+
Fluff, On the 6506+ can you show the bias process how to do that? Thanks, and great vids as always.
New recording of the intro??
Nice Ryan! I'd like you to check out the sub cabinet ...
But the problem is after about 30 minutes of playing my sensor is starting to blink a little. any suggestions? and yes i let my tubes heat up.
fluff. are we going to see a comparison of the new Peavey 6505 piranha vs the orange micro dark. maybe the 6505mh vs the Randall rd5 vs the Blackstar ht-5? is any of that in the works?
is there any tonal difference in the 6506+ 112 and the 6505+ head?
Hi Fluff, Would you share where you place your u87? You tone is the best high gain metal tone I've heard. I bought the 2x12 6505 cab. I'm getting the MH, too, when it's back in stock. I also got my hands on a u87 recently. Thanks.
jesus thats an incredible sound good morning from England
where did you get those BAD diffusers? or how did you make them? they look very lightweight
There is a USB out on it, I was wondering if it is possible to reamp with it using the only USB (sending DI sound via USB and recording amplified sound via USB)?
I have a really important question.. Is there a difference in sound between the US and Chinese version of these 6505 amps?
I live in a small apartment, what 100 Watt valve head should I buy?
100 watts isn't enough for a small apartment, especially a studio apartment. You need a 120 watt into 2 4x12s.
The MH, to me, probably would have sounded identical with a tweak of the resonance. I did notice a lack in punch compared the the +
I find that 6505+ has a really sweet low end "hump" that is just awesome
Sounds incredible great playing too
Does the 6505 MH need to be boosted to keep up with the 6505+?
Can someone please help me out on what settings are being used on the micro head in this video to reach such heavy riffs?
Where can I download this song?
Same song from the PRS Tremonti SE video? I love that main riff
Hey Fluff, you mentioned you had upgraded/fixed your tubes in the Peavey 6505+; do you have any advice when changing (upgrading) tubes/tube configuration (brands, sounds, etc)???
Thanks(:
Both sounds cool !
Hey man ! Thoughts on belvedere
Im thinking about getting the peavy 6505 +112 and a schecter c1 of some kind for bedroom use. Would this be a good set up?
Did you record the intro song again? It sounded different
Would it be pos to run the mh into a bigger poweramp? And use the mh as a preamp?
how loud is the mh? say for practice with a full band?
what about a boosted green channel vs red channel for heavy tones video?
