Choice Band Koraidon has been carrying me through the showdown ladder. Pairing it with U-Turn allows my Koraidon to function just like Specs Miraidon, either as a sweeper or a pivot to get one of my allies in.

Aaron, regarding what you said at the start of this video about you enjoying making videos like this rather than just battle videos and seeking feedback: I watch your videos because I am a fan of you and your work, not just because you are one of the best Pokémon players out there. If you are feeling the urge to branch out more, I know you will approach that well and will make high quality, insightful and charming content no matter what the subject is. It's the start of a new year; Reg G is a very boring, centralised meta in my opinion and it's probably not going to be terribly fun for you to feel you have to drag yourself through Road to Ranked videos of this ruleset yet again. One thing that could be interesting to investigate with Koraidon is the fact that he learns Electric Type moves. Electric adds some nice coverage to Koraidon usual attacks (Fire+Fighting) and answers his problem with Pelipper.
@@groudonvert7286 But if you will use a electric move on it, might as well use a stab Dragon, would've be way more useful. And like I said pretty sure the fighting move still 2HITKO most pelippers, so... Doesn't make sense to be fancy and run a electric type move.
Great stuff I am really considering Miraidon again but with some new techs. Hopefully I can make something that wins more often with people actively looking for ways to avoid being hit by it.
This honestly might be one of the most well thought out Reg G tier lists I've seen, especially with how the different tiers are labelled. The only disagreement I would possibly have is bumping Eternatus up a tier because it does get access to perfect coverage with its two STABs and Flamethrower, as well as being just absurdly well-equipped to deal with almost every widely used non-restricted pokemon in Reg G. Granted, this does mean teambuilding in a completely different way than most other single restricted teams, tasking the rest of your team with handling the opposing restricteds so Eternatus can solo almost everything else with its goofy bulk and special attack. This said, I don't think where you placed it is really all that unfair, with its relative lack of results and compared to the relative power of the tier above.
The two big things i am interested in for the return of reg G is which dominant Pokemon from reg H will find ways to stick around, and which underused restricted legendaries will surprise us; Groudon doing well at the Victory Road tournament was really great in that regard. I still think that Astral Barrage/Glacial Lance should either have their accuracy lowered, or Origin Pulse/Precipice Blade their accuracy increased. That alone would make Groudon and Kyogre so much better.
I liked this. Thinking about it, I am kinda interested in what pokemon would look like if only legendaries had weathersetting abilities. Not moves but just their presence. thematically it makes sense.
I think Eternatus has a lot of potential. With a lot of the high speed tier mons not running max speed, it gives it a lot of potential to OHKO all top meta threats. It hits all of them for super effective damage too! Tera Fire / Fairy would probably be the best bet right? Either get extra damage on your flamethrower against Zamazenta or be able to resist your dragon weakness by going Tera fairy! It beats Rillaboom and Urshifu as well! Resists some Iron Hands sets! In the right core, I would not be shocked at all if Eternatus does well this regulation.
Funny that you and I basically completely agree on what the tier list looks like. I’m honestly surprised to see Groudon look pretty decent again but I’m excited to see it just because it’ll miss Pblades against me.
Actual question as purely a viewer: with both Calyrex Rider forms having 100% spread moves, would it be better for the game to nerf those to the same accuracy as Origin Pulse/Precipice Blades or level them all out at 100% accuracy?
i think another point for the caly riders in strongest tier is that they won the juniors and seniors world championships respectively. while masters is obviously the most important win for the tier list, the 2 games in particular showed how good the 2 caly riders are. along with caly ice being the runner up in the masters division
One thing I'm genuinely interested about is if Sneasler will see play in reg G with it's success in reg H. It gets access to fake out as well, and while it is considerably less bulky than the popular fake out users of Incin and Rilla, since a single restricted format is very heavily match up dependant maybe you could run it to have a chance or two of fishing for status conditions with dire claw to turn a unfavorable matchup.
@@teokotirinta2960 Doesn't see any consistency in using Sneasler just for having a chance of a status condition. Even more because most restricteds doesn't take super effective from it.
I think NDM can be great with some exploration, with clear amulet it's a lot less of a fraud than previous gens, it's damage profile is also pretty dangerous with Groudon now being fringe. At +1 or +2 it can do some unexpected one-shots with the correct moves.
@@mintx1720 Problem is why not just use Miraidon? Less set up needed for insane damage. Additionally, it loses to Miraidon, shadow horse, and Zamazenta. Losing that hard to 3 of the top 5 restricted Pokemon does not a viable Pokemon make.
Only got Violet a few months ago so Reg H is all i've played and I smashed it. My biggest worry for Reg G however has been Calyrex-S. In SW/SH it's 4x darkness weakness & 80 DEF meant it could be taken out with one sucker punch every time. However now it can turn off that weakness...I can only imagine how annoying this thing has been to play against in SV.
I run mixed Groudon with Tera Fire Eruption + Solarbeam and it's SO good. A lot of people dont expect it one bit. People send in Ice Rider Calyrex to deal with it and get a bad surprise. And it can OHKO BM Ursaluna with solarbeam...
I dig tier lists. I found the music ever so slightly too loud for this video. Was a bit distracting and made it hard to focus on you and the information you were dishing out. Improvement idea #1: For those of us with vision impairments, would you consider not placing Pokémon of similar coloring side by side in your tier lists? For example, in your top tier, you have Miraidon, Caly-S, and Caly-I. Miraidon and Caly-S have very similar coloring, especially with the black background. Swapping Caly-S and Caly-I to break up the colors would help immensely. Just a thought.
I've been trying to make Palkia Origin work with Dragon Cheer and failing. Fun when I do get guaranteed crit Spacial Rend but struggle into the faster restricteds.
My Terapagos set is Rock Polish + Weakness Policy with Hitmontop support running Vacuum Wave. EDIT: Still testing wether I actually prefer Stored Power over Earth Power.
Kyogre is in a fair spot, but I do think it'll be the sort of "breakout" restricted in Reg G; I can see weather being really strong, especially in place of Miraidon who has a nightmare against other terrain setters
I'm honestly thinking that we will see a spike in Miraidon and Zamazenta usage. I think that they have the least bad matchups, and that is how you win BO3. I also think there will be a Groudon team that wins a regional or international. That team hasn't been built yet but will be.
I think the strongest needed a split as I personally find Caly-S really hard to use and Caly-I much easier. You mention it during the chat about it but to visualise it would have been handy too
That wo chien ogre team allowed ogre to click water spout more games with pollen puff and all the screen support and attack reduction. I think that team kinda puts it in the same tier as the zamazenta tier.
Love your tier list, Aaron. While I am not excited at all to play in this format (because I think it is as terrible, if not more terrible than, the Big 6 and CHALK eras), I'll still be tuning into your vids and any Regionals you are commentating, because you are very entertaining and knowledgeable about so much and it brings me great joy! i think another point for the caly riders in strongest tier is that they won the juniors and seniors world championships respectively. while masters is obviously the most important win for the tier list, the 2 games in particular showed how good the 2 caly riders are. along with caly ice being the runner up in the masters division
Even more because most restricteds doesn't take super effective from it.
i cant wait to get back into vgc with this regulation
I think NDM can be great with some exploration, with clear amulet it's a lot less of a fraud than previous gens, it's damage profile is also pretty dangerous with Groudon now being fringe. At +1 or +2 it can do some unexpected one-shots with the correct moves.
@@mintx1720 Problem is why not just use Miraidon? Less set up needed for insane damage. Additionally, it loses to Miraidon, shadow horse, and Zamazenta. Losing that hard to 3 of the top 5 restricted Pokemon does not a viable Pokemon make.
@@mewtationssb I mean it's better than meme tier, not that it's top tier or anything.
@@mintx1720 That’s fair enough. Content tier IS meme tier to me but I’m also trying to win so.
Loved it!
Curious as to why Koraidon sees such a nerf from Pelliper, but Miraidon doesn’t see the same nerf from the less niche Rillaboom or Indeedee.
Would love something similar for the non restricteds - maybe not all of them but the meta threats/dark horses.
YES love this!
I’m gonna keep trying koraidon I believe in him
nah koraidon's cooked bro
I'm going back to San Antonio again! Hope to see ya there again!!!😊🪨🪖
Are you going to make a video on your Zamazenta Worlds team soon?
A way to fix orgin pulse is a gravity user like sandy shocks or sableye prankster
If the tapus were allowed in this gen i think the format could be drastically different, having solid options for terrain support
Can we get a tierlist of all the other mons?
We will see a ZekromFiero making day 2 at a regional in this season
You mention it during the chat about it but to visualise it would have been handy too
BECAUSE TONIGHT WILL BE THE NIGHT THAT I WILL FALL FOR YOUUUU OVERRRR AGAINNNNNNNN DON'T MAKE ME CHANGE MYYYY MINDDDD!
14:06 this pelipper shade is crazy
yo aaron could a throwback 2013 vgc vid or stream be somethin ud consider? showdown got the ladder
Eternatus Tinkaton tera normal Rillaboom has been my go to since the beginning of reg G
Edit: keep up the stellar work!
