There is a Jewish story about a wealthy man who came to his rabbi and told him "I want to build an orphanage, can you put me in touch with the right people?" and the rabbi happily did so. A few weeks later the man returned to the rabbi and said "I have decided not to build the orphanage. I realized I was only doing it to be admired as a philanthropist. My motives were selfish." 1. i would rather lose my memories, because living life without forming memories seems incredibly difficult - how would i create new friendships or maintain my current ones if i can't remember recent ooccurences?
2. i would try to get to where i am now (having finished a bachelor's degree and off to a ph.d. program in my favorite subject) but in a very different way - i definitely went through a lot of anguish and mental struggles and it would be excruciating to do that again, i have to approach it differently
3. not really, like you said, you are always present in your own life, but you can make your own happiness extend to making others happy
4. i haven't had a full time job yet, and it really does not appeal. that's why i'm going to grad school haha.. i would prefer for work to be optional
5. i've never gotten the impression that people have strong negative feelings about how i look, and thus my looks haven't signficantly affected how i'm treated. but i don't think i have benefited because of my looks, other than getting compliments for my light eyes (i think because it's unexpected to see them on a medium brown person)
6. whether a new opportunity gives me anxiety depends on how my overall mental health is at the time. if i'm doing well, i can handle new things with a lot of peace

I concur on the fact that there is no such thing as a selfless deed. I've noticed that a lot of people who believe that seem to put a lot of self worth on their selflessness.... if your ego and self worth are attached to your supposed selflessness, how selfless are you truly?

Bro, I really enjoy your videos, you're super down to earth and you're always giving me new crafting methods I've never even known about to try with my daughter! I'm not that great at art but I dated a tattoo artist for like 5 years who was amazing at everything art and my daughter really gravitated to it so I try to keep it alive in her. That whole animating thing is super dope that's what true creatives do. Like with Virgil, no one was doing the shit he was doing with sneakers now a fuck ton of shoes have elements from what he put out.

First of all, I love the rug! Can I just ask, why do you back this one with glue? I've seen a video of you where you don't and now I'm doubting if I should use glue or not haha

I wanna make and sell punch needle rugs... but how would you "clean it" "if ever" you spilt coffee on it. In the washer? Soak it in the bathtub?
I understand selflessness in a different way, sure you might’ve doing it because it make you feel good but if seeing other people be happy even if it doesn’t directly help you makes you happy, I think that’s selflessness. I don’t think a person has to be a robot or lack emotions to be selfless
Knowing that there are big, impactful things I could not change, no matter what, redoing the past seems like way too much work for very little payout. There is always the option of reinventing yourself over and over again, as you live on.

I think, a lot of people would like to make great things happen for you because of how pretty you look. Just saying.
I think pretty privilege is when people are inclined to be kind and polite towards you, from the get go. I would say that I have that. I'm not beautiful, but I'm pretty enough, and usually people treat me very kindly. They continue to do so because I make a point of being nice, but they start because I'm pretty enough. We are visual creatures, and our opinion on people is strongly influenced by their outward appearance, up until we get to know them well
