First off, that's one of the most comprehensive Sabbath collections I've seen. Nice job with the tin box! Now, for those of us who still collect CD's… The Black Box is amazing and the source tapes they found for it make the music really come alive. It's freaking awesome. Sadly it's out of print and people on Ebay ask too much freaking money for it. BUT: If you're not picky about booklets and general artwork like me, you should go for the re-released set of 2012, "The Complete Albums 1970-1978". Same source tapes used as in Black Box and they sound fantastic. However, be aware: those are mini-vinyl replicas so… again… no lyrics, no booklets… which might be a turn off for some, but believe me that, compared to the sound of the 1996 Castle Re-Issues, these reissues from 2012 onwards sound much, much better (if they come from Warner Bros OR Rhino). I hope they did the same thing with the Dio era… BUT a man can only dream. Also… have you guys heard that Iommi is reworking and remixing Forbidden? I thought that was some really cool news. It's not my favourite Sabbath album, but I find that it's so underrated.

It looked so original that it fooled me into thinking that it was an actual studio release lol. Very very clever that you make homemade box sets like that! Saves you a lot of money in a way as well! I don't recall, but make sure you check out the Kiss one I did which was video right around Christmas of 2016 and the Ronstadt one I just posted a couple of days ago. Let me know what you think about those. The Set was much more detailed than my others.

Funny, I'm just the opposite lol. When I started collecting vinyl years ago I got rid of a TON of cds. Over the years and I have really started to get back into them. Especially the box sets and all the Japanese and Mobil Fidelity cds. I'm gradually trying to replace traditional cds with those. I enjoy getting those just as much as vinyl at this point lol.

It' really is fun man! Music projects get me so excited and happy that I can't even begin to explain. Whether the project is changing my music room around, reorganizing my records, or making box sets....it is just the best to me! :) The think I love about projects like this Sabbath is really after I go the box for like $15 it really only cost me two can of spray paint and about $15-20 in stickers lol. Dude, finally a real Black Sabbath fan who has albums beyond just the Ozzy stuff. A lot of great material done with Dio and Tony Martin. Warner needs to get off their a** and re-release this stuff. I can't get any post-Ozzy stuff on vinyl.

Yeah man, these sets are so much fun to make. With all the decals they have on ebay and all the custom stickers you order for $15 you can really make some cool/fun sets. I'm finishing up one for AC/DC and Linda Ronstadt right now. I have had a few people here say they were going to start making their own as well so I hope it turns into a thing because there are so many people here that are 100 times more creative than me and I would love to see that.

Thanks man! I'll try to start showing some again. As BluBro mentioned there was a box set series I was doing for awhile and I showed, in great detail, a number of my box sets on cd and vinyl. About 15-20 as I recall. Check those out and I'll try to start doing more of those for you. I know exactly how you feel though because people put these box sets for sale on amazon or ebay and all they post is generic picture of the cover. You can't get any bearing of if they mini lp sleeves, jewel cases, or the many other options that can be had in a box set. I CAN"T STAND THAT!!!! lol.
I have the only complete Black Box set I know of, released only on e-bay, called "the complete original Black Sabbath 1970-2017" It has ALL the studio CD's, from "Black Sabbath" to "13".

Thanks man! Not really on the generic thing. I always thought it could be an awesome idea if someone made generic sets in different colors where you could order one of maybe three sizes and then be able to order sticker sets.
I totally agree. Maybe it exists at Michael's or Ikea and I haven't found it yet. If I find a source I will let you know. Your collection is looking cleaner and tighter every time you check in. Honestly I don't know how you keep everything looking so clean. Ive' got shit all over the place. haha Your an inspiration ;)
Ha ha! Yeah, my collection is one thing that I keep more organized than just about anything else in my life lol. My shelves and set up really do double as artwork for me. I get such pleasure out of just looking at them without even pulling a single record lol. I have really enjoyed switching all my sleeves out to the clear, resealable sleeves as well. The way those make the artwork pop has been pretty awesome too. To me little things like that bring even more life to a collection beyond just the great music.

I have to say these custom made box sets that you've made for Sabbath and Kiss are really cool, love the creativity. I might have to make a few of my own for my favourite bands like Mahavishnu Orchestra, King Crimson, Magma, Mothers of Invention etc. When it comes to thread responses on the VC yours are by far the best ones I've seen over the years. Really appreciate how you put a lot of thought and reasoning behind your answers. Also love how your collection is set up to look like a record store. Are you active on Instagram?
Holy cow man! Thanks so much for all those kinds word. I truly, from the bottom of my heart, appreciate the time you have taken to come to my channel and listen to anything I have to say lol. I think it would be awesome if you made some of your own sets. Would love to see that . I was looking online last night and it looks like they are putting a "Part I" of the Kissteria set out that comes with like 1/2 the albums and you buy the rest. I really wanted one when it first came out, but when I saw that one my first thought was..."I like my set better" lol. Being able to customize your sets makes them that much cooler IMO. Magma is a band I JUST started listening to about 4-5 months ago so I still have a lot to learn about them. I only have 1 of their albums but have listened to a few random things online. What would you say aret 3 killer albums I MUST give a hard listen too/maybe own by them? I don't do instagram. Matter of fact I may be one of the few people you know who doesn't do instagram, never had a twitter, and never has had or posted anything on facebook. lol. I'm am actually very, very anti social media with the exception of the VC here on youtube and that is mainly becaue 90% of everything is the VC is about love and caring and sharing regardless of race, religion, or political ideologies. Therefore chatting with people like you here in the VC is the only social media that I feel is really worth doing.
Hey Brandon, completely understand and agree with your views about social media. In fact I took a long break from all platforms including youtube and only recently started being a bit more active on these platforms. For the most part social media platforms have become very toxic places especially this year after the election and the VC has become a refuge where I can get away from that stuff and meet like minded people who share a love for music. That's also the reason why my instagram account is aptly named @sickofeverythingbutmusic haha. I only created an instagram account a few months ago and what I like about the platform is that you only see content from the people you follow and I only follow other record collectors and musicians (many of whom are VC members) so its been a very positive experience for the most part and I got to discover tons of great records and share a few of my own. You're right, a custom box set that you put a lot of effort into making holds more value than one that you paid a lot for. When it comes to Magma their 1973 album Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh (M.D.K) is generally regarded as their magnum opus so I highly recommend listening to that if you haven't already. Some of their other classic albums to check out are Köhntarkösz (1974) and Üdü Ẁüdü (1976) Their more recent albums are great too, especially K.A (2004) and Ëmëhntëhtt-Ré (2009). Magma is still a very active band and perform regularly. It's nice to have a black guy talk about hard rock and metal. There's not enough of you guys, especially at live shows. I love the homemade professional quality looking box. However, will you be buying all of their original 8 lp's again when the ten year war comes out in September?
Thanks man! Yeah, there has certainly been much more of a cross over to hip hop than to hard rock/metal. I usually try to see how many minorities I can pick out when I go to concerts lol. Kind of a fun thing to do. Last two shows I saw was Slayer and then Metallica. Didn't see any at the Slayer, but about 15 at Metallica lol. That was a huge stadium show so I didn't see 80% of the crowd so probably a ton more there. I'm not sure about the Sabbath both set. If it is reasonably price I might get. Just won't be number on my priority list. I'm just glad they are putting it out. I wish more bands/label would do like Iron Maiden and Phil Collins did with their box set where they make the box and it comes with 2 lps so you only pay about 50 or 60 dollars to get one. Then as they release the new reissues you buy them to fill up your box. Makes it so much more affordable to us average joes to get sets.
I'm a huge across-the-board classic rock and metal fan, but I do like some, and only some, pop music. For instance, I just saw Queen w/ Adam Lambert in Brooklyn last Friday, and it was great. I wouldn't be caught dead buying an Adam Lambert album though, even if it was just from itunes or Amazon. Speaking of Amazon, I'd appreciate to know what you do and your opinion: Since 1987, I've purchased around 5,000 cd's of my favorite artists. I've also repurchased those same albums when remastered versions have come out. I've also gotten into 5.1 music since the SACD and DVD Audio formats came out, as well as some recent blu-rays. But, thanks to watching people like you celebrate the "warm" sound sensation you get with vinyl you can't get with digital, I binge-bought 300 of my all-time favorite albums on vinyl from Amazon in one shot. Not one of these records are without the cracking and popping sounds, even after I thought I gave them a good rinse with various cheap washers and liquids from Amazon. I'd like to know if you clean your records so good that you've eliminated those annoying sounds, and if so, what's your method. Do you own one of those 5 thousand dollar electrosonic machines, a much cheaper Okki Nokki, etc? Or, are you just content and accept those cracks and pops and it doesn't bother you? Thanks.
Not really. The crackles and pops drive me crazy. Matter fact a lot of my videos over the past 1-2 years has been about this "Purge" process I have been going through where I literally went through every single one of my lp, listened to bit and pieces of them and if there were any crackles or pops that drove me crazy I got rid of them so I'm totally with you on not liking those. I have just become a TON more picky with buying vinyl. Especially used vinyl. I play test EVERYTHING in the stores to make sure there are no crackles and pops. When I buy used online I always email the seller asking very specifically about crackle or pops during playback and there many albums I don't buy because the seller can't tell me clearly. It take the collector part of us to really make sure we don't bring in albums that go snap, crackle, pop. I hit a store yesterday and bought 4 lps. 2 of them were in a $3 bin and I only picked them up because they were two that I needed to replace my current copies with better copies. So yeah, I would imagine if you binge bought , WHICH SOUNDS LIKE SO MUCH FUN!!! LOL, 300 lps all online with some being used...you probably got some snap crackle pop there. Hell, if I buy a brand new lp and it has to much of that I will return it. It certainly takes more effort than buying the traditional cd or tape. As far a cleaning method I use a simple brush and cleaning solution you buy at the store. Most records I clean are not to get to the to play "better" as much as cleaning/dusting off an already clean record. The best cleaning method is be very picky in your purchase method IMO>
Those noises are unacceptable to me, especially since all 300 I bought from Amazon were brand new. A light bulb went off since I last wrote to you, and I've invented a method and device that works better than an Okki Nokki-type machine, and I'm betting just as good, if not better, as one of those electrosonic machines, like the KLAudio that costs 5k. My method isn't bathing the the clean vinyl in contaminated water. If you watch one of the KLaudio videos on youtube, after you've cleaned your first record, dirty water is now cleaning every subsequent one, which makes no sense, and I can't see how they justify selling the machines for that much. And, those $300-1000 range record washing machines do nothing besides cleaning the record's surface. They do not address the gunk that is stuck on a microscopic level within the grooves. My idea does. I've tried it out on a handful of used vinyl yesterday, and the before and after test I did is astonishing. I'm meeting with a representative from Inventhelp.com at the end of the month about me and them patenting it and getting the device mass-produced, since I don't have the financial means to do it myself. If they say "not interested" I'll gladly share my invention with you, for no other reason than I enjoy your videos and appreciate your diverse, excellent taste in music. My favorite new band of this century is My Morning Jacket and I took my wife to see them w/ Gary Clark Jr opening a couple weeks ago in Queens. I should've taken you, cause she didn't recognize a single song, and her head was down the whole time texting. What a waste of a great orchestra seating ticket. Lol.

Yes, Forbidden is very underrated. I don't get the hate. It came out when I was a senior in high school. Great memories. I enjoy it

One thing I gotta mention is every time I play reunion and war pigs starts, the way ozzy goes off key is hilarious.
It' really is fun man! Music projects get me so excited and happy that I can't even begin to explain. Whether the project is changing my music room around, reorganizing my records, or making box sets....it is just the best to me! :) The think I love about projects like this Sabbath is really after I go the box for like $15 it really only cost me two can of spray paint and about $15-20 in stickers lol. Dude, finally a real Black Sabbath fan who has albums beyond just the Ozzy stuff. A lot of great material done with Dio and Tony Martin. Warner needs to get off their a** and re-release this stuff. I can't get any post-Ozzy stuff on vinyl.

Yeah man, these sets are so much fun to make. With all the decals they have on ebay and all the custom stickers you order for $15 you can really make some cool/fun sets. I'm finishing up one for AC/DC and Linda Ronstadt right now. I have had a few people here say they were going to start making their own as well so I hope it turns into a thing because there are so many people here that are 100 times more creative than me and I would love to see that.

Thanks man! I'll try to start showing some again. As BluBro mentioned there was a box set series I was doing for awhile and I showed, in great detail, a number of my box sets on cd and vinyl. About 15-20 as I recall. Check those out and I'll try to start doing more of those for you. I know exactly how you feel though because people put these box sets for sale on amazon or ebay and all they post is generic picture of the cover. You can't get any bearing of if they mini lp sleeves, jewel cases, or the many other options that can be had in a box set. I CAN"T STAND THAT!!!! lol.

Ha ha! Yeah, my collection is one thing that I keep more organized than just about anything else in my life lol. My shelves and set up really do double as artwork for me. I get such pleasure out of just looking at them without even pulling a single record lol. I have really enjoyed switching all my sleeves out to the clear, resealable sleeves as well. The way those make the artwork pop has been pretty awesome too. To me little things like that bring even more life to a collection beyond just the great music.

I have to say these custom made box sets that you've made for Sabbath and Kiss are really cool, love the creativity. I might have to make a few of my own for my favourite bands like Mahavishnu Orchestra, King Crimson, Magma, Mothers of Invention etc. When it comes to thread responses on the VC yours are by far the best ones I've seen over the years. Really appreciate how you put a lot of thought and reasoning behind your answers. Also love how your collection is set up to look like a record store. Are you active on Instagram?
Holy cow man! Thanks so much for all those kinds word. I truly, from the bottom of my heart, appreciate the time you have taken to come to my channel and listen to anything I have to say lol. I think it would be awesome if you made some of your own sets. Would love to see that . I was looking online last night and it looks like they are putting a "Part I" of the Kissteria set out that comes with like 1/2 the albums and you buy the rest. I really wanted one when it first came out, but when I saw that one my first thought was..."I like my set better" lol. Being able to customize your sets makes them that much cooler IMO. Magma is a band I JUST started listening to about 4-5 months ago so I still have a lot to learn about them. I only have 1 of their albums but have listened to a few random things online. What would you say aret 3 killer albums I MUST give a hard listen too/maybe own by them? I don't do instagram. Matter of fact I may be one of the few people you know who doesn't do instagram, never had a twitter, and never has had or posted anything on facebook. lol. I'm am actually very, very anti social media with the exception of the VC here on youtube and that is mainly becaue 90% of everything is the VC is about love and caring and sharing regardless of race, religion, or political ideologies. Therefore chatting with people like you here in the VC is the only social media that I feel is really worth doing.
Hey Brandon, completely understand and agree with your views about social media. In fact I took a long break from all platforms including youtube and only recently started being a bit more active on these platforms. For the most part social media platforms have become very toxic places especially this year after the election and the VC has become a refuge where I can get away from that stuff and meet like minded people who share a love for music. That's also the reason why my instagram account is aptly named @sickofeverythingbutmusic haha. I only created an instagram account a few months ago and what I like about the platform is that you only see content from the people you follow and I only follow other record collectors and musicians (many of whom are VC members) so its been a very positive experience for the most part and I got to discover tons of great records and share a few of my own. You're right, a custom box set that you put a lot of effort into making holds more value than one that you paid a lot for. When it comes to Magma their 1973 album Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh (M.D.K) is generally regarded as their magnum opus so I highly recommend listening to that if you haven't already. Some of their other classic albums to check out are Köhntarkösz (1974) and Üdü Ẁüdü (1976) Their more recent albums are great too, especially K.A (2004) and Ëmëhntëhtt-Ré (2009). It would be cool to have, but I also wouldn't really feel right knowing that I don't have an 8 track player and really haven't been collecting them. It's nice to have a black guy talk about hard rock and metal. There's not enough of you guys, especially at live shows. I love the homemade professional quality looking box. However, will you be buying all of their original 8 lp's again when the ten year war comes out in September?
Thanks man! Yeah, there has certainly been much more of a cross over to hip hop than to hard rock/metal. I usually try to see how many minorities I can pick out when I go to concerts lol. Kind of a fun thing to do. Last two shows I saw was Slayer and then Metallica. Didn't see any at the Slayer, but about 15 at Metallica lol. That was a huge stadium show so I didn't see 80% of the crowd so probably a ton more there. I'm not sure about the Sabbath both set. If it is reasonably price I might get. Just won't be number on my priority list. I'm just glad they are putting it out. I wish more bands/label would do like Iron Maiden and Phil Collins did with their box set where they make the box and it comes with 2 lps so you only pay about 50 or 60 dollars to get one. Then as they release the new reissues you buy them to fill up your box. Makes it so much more affordable to us average joes to get sets.
I'm a huge across-the-board classic rock and metal fan, but I do like some, and only some, pop music. For instance, I just saw Queen w/ Adam Lambert in Brooklyn last Friday, and it was great. I wouldn't be caught dead buying an Adam Lambert album though, even if it was just from itunes or Amazon. Speaking of Amazon, I'd appreciate to know what you do and your opinion: Since 1987, I've purchased around 5,000 cd's of my favorite artists. I've also repurchased those same albums when remastered versions have come out. I've also gotten into 5.1 music since the SACD and DVD Audio formats came out, as well as some recent blu-rays. But, thanks to watching people like you celebrate the "warm" sound sensation you get with vinyl you can't get with digital, I binge-bought 300 of my all-time favorite albums on vinyl from Amazon in one shot. Not one of these records are without the cracking and popping sounds, even after I thought I gave them a good rinse with various cheap washers and liquids from Amazon. I'd like to know if you clean your records so good that you've eliminated those annoying sounds, and if so, what's your method. Do you own one of those 5 thousand dollar electrosonic machines, a much cheaper Okki Nokki, etc? Or, are you just content and accept those cracks and pops and it doesn't bother you? Thanks.
Not really. The crackles and pops drive me crazy. Matter fact a lot of my videos over the past 1-2 years has been about this "Purge" process I have been going through where I literally went through every single one of my lp, listened to bit and pieces of them and if there were any crackles or pops that drove me crazy I got rid of them so I'm totally with you on not liking those. I have just become a TON more picky with buying vinyl. Especially used vinyl. I play test EVERYTHING in the stores to make sure there are no crackles and pops. When I buy used online I always email the seller asking very specifically about crackle or pops during playback and there many albums I don't buy because the seller can't tell me clearly. It take the collector part of us to really make sure we don't bring in albums that go snap, crackle, pop. I hit a store yesterday and bought 4 lps. 2 of them were in a $3 bin and I only picked them up because they were two that I needed to replace my current copies with better copies. So yeah, I would imagine if you binge bought , WHICH SOUNDS LIKE SO MUCH FUN!!! LOL, 300 lps all online with some being used...you probably got some snap crackle pop there. Hell, if I buy a brand new lp and it has to much of that I will return it. It certainly takes more effort than buying the traditional cd or tape. As far a cleaning method I use a simple brush and cleaning solution you buy at the store. Most records I clean are not to get to the to play "better" as much as cleaning/dusting off an already clean record. The best cleaning method is be very picky in your purchase method IMO>
Those noises are unacceptable to me, especially since all 300 I bought from Amazon were brand new. A light bulb went off since I last wrote to you, and I've invented a method and device that works better than an Okki Nokki-type machine, and I'm betting just as good, if not better, as one of those electrosonic machines, like the KLAudio that costs 5k. My method isn't bathing the the clean vinyl in contaminated water. If you watch one of the KLaudio videos on youtube, after you've cleaned your first record, dirty water is now cleaning every subsequent one, which makes no sense, and I can't see how they justify selling the machines for that much. And, those $300-1000 range record washing machines do nothing besides cleaning the record's surface. They do not address the gunk that is stuck on a microscopic level within the grooves. My idea does. I've tried it out on a handful of used vinyl yesterday, and the before and after test I did is astonishing. I'm meeting with a representative from Inventhelp.com at the end of the month about me and them patenting it and getting the device mass-produced, since I don't have the financial means to do it myself. If they say "not interested" I'll gladly share my invention with you, for no other reason than I enjoy your videos and appreciate your diverse, excellent taste in music. My favorite new band of this century is My Morning Jacket and I took my wife to see them w/ Gary Clark Jr opening a couple weeks ago in Queens. I should've taken you, cause she didn't recognize a single song, and her head was down the whole time texting. What a waste of a great orchestra seating ticket. Lol.
