Like you I really don't care for the new disc art or the liberties taken with the original art. The ideal box set would be to combine the James Guthrie remastered audio from the 'Discovery' edition with the mini LP sleeves' artwork/labels and extras from the "Oh, By The Way" box.
And a book to accompany it all, similar to what was in Shine On.

which is precisley why i didn't blow my money buying this boxset. I bought the albums individually over the years and made my own box out of wood, to display all 15 Pink Floyd albums. I painted the battersea smoke stacks on one side of the box, a cow on the grass on the other side and on the lid i painted the triangle and rainbow. To me, this is much more special, a labour of love
Also, it burns better being made from wood…

"Oh By The Way" Box-Set Is The Top! Mini-Vinil Replica. Audio Not-Remastered. 👍
At 10:05 (and actually through most the video) "very modern design"... talking about the same photos and design that was used 27 years ago for the 1992 remastered versions on CD :D. Actually one thing I don't like about this Discovery set is exactly that: it crops and butchers all the original artwork of those 92 remasters booklets. And they used that modern font in white and yellow and pink through all the albums to keep a certain visual unity in the packaging, but that is so unnatural (specially in the older ones, and most notably in The Wall). Wish they had re-done the books with different visuals... with typography that were according to the time and design of each release. And oh God... those horrendous labels!!!! They didn't even try to make labels. In the visual department I prefer to keep the Oh by The Way box for its attempt to re-create the original LP presentation and labels, and all the extras. The best thing in all this Discovery box is the companion book with sketches and unreleased images. But that's not enough to convince me to buy it. I still hold on to my Oh By the Way (too keep as collector), my Shine on (to proudly show it off) , and all the 1992-1997 remasters (to handle and listen to regularly, and peruse the "modern" artwork and labels). Some people may prefer the Discovery because of the Guthrie remastered sound, but that's an issue that leads to very subjective opinions and is fruitless to engage into. This Discovery is definitely aimed at much younger fans/collectors who don't know/care about many things.

If we're going by the perspective that changes can be fine, I think "Wish You Were Here" and onward was quite well done. Any changes or additions seemed to keep to the spirit of the original enough to be satisfactory. It's "Piper" through "Dark Side" that was butchered to be an overwhelming vomit of pyschedelic gaudiness.

Maybe a good set for a new Pink Floyd fan, Hens the discovery but the superior set is the oh by the way set.I wouldn’t want some crummy child touching my oh by the way box, and I wouldn’t buy this set at full price, if I found it used for a decent price I’d consider getting it just because but hell I have the shine on set too so, I’m quite passed the point of discovery.
There’s been two copies at my local mall for some time now and they’re price at like 250$ I believe. Just not worth it for me, having already owning oh by the way and shine on. If I find it used in fairly decent condition for like 100$ tops I’d consider buying it for collection purposes just cuz I love Pink Floyd but it’s not a must have for me, especially at upwards of 250, if I remember correctly it may actually be 270$

Not too fond of the disc art or how some of the booklets omit neat things from the original, in favour of modernization: Wish You Were Here is a great example of that.
I think The Wall is the nicest one from this release campaign.
