Why plant High Density Apples???

- Today I explain why farmers should plant high density apples, some of the main reasons are, its more profitable on the first years and the farmer could increase fruit quality on this system. For this system to work the farmer is required to plant a dwarf rootstock and for them to be spaces at 2 to 4 ft apart. Another big this is that the trees need to be trellised.

If I understand correctly you work with your dad on this Farm? If so he needs to increase your wages I never seen anybody that knew so much at your age. Can we buy apples from you directly?
Yes, my parents own the orchard and I'm the production manager for them. We could ship apples if you want.
@@farmerdre1 are you located in Missouri? Can people come to your place and by Tomatoes as well as Apple in season? We live in Quapaw Oklahoma close to Miami Oklahoma.

Hello buddy 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏼🍎
Sir which is the best rootstock??
For high density the best are the Geniva root stocks like G.41, G.16, G.11
@@farmerdre1 suggest for indian topography
We have a bunch of orchards all in a row near us (along a ridge), and if you drive along the road between them you can see every type of pruning system known to man! Some of the orchards are very old with large full-sized trees, and others have acre upon acre of newer high density plantings. A lot of the older orchards are abandoned, and lately a few have come back online and are replacing the big trees with the high density. They will all be high density at some point I believe.
What’s the spacing
Where do you get the trees from?
Vaughn nursery out of Tennessee
Can you show us what you use for your drip system?
Thanks
Yes. It will be in a coming video
Usually everyone I see planting hi-density apples put in the trellising before planting. Not so sure on the trees providing good production for 30 years tho. Maybe more like 15.
There's not that much extended research on how old the high density Apple's produce quality fruit! The high density Apple system has only been in the United States for 20 years
