DELTARUNE - All songs with the "Lost Girl" leitmotif (Chapter 2)

- All songs with the "Lost Girl" leitmotif in Deltarune.
We first heard this leitmotif back in September 2019, when Toby Fox posted "Lost Girl" to his Twitter account as a preview to Chapter 2.
He stated that it was originally going to be Noelle's Theme, but it's "actually the kind of theme that shows up all over the game, even when she's around". So far, though, the leitmotif has only really represented Noelle, but we'll have to see whether it shows up in other places in future chapters like Toby Fox said it would.
I personally don't like it when character themes are reused in songs for no reason - what's the point of establishing a theme as representing a character, giving them a musical identity, and then just disregarding it for no reason?
With that being said, I'm sure Toby Fox knows what he's doing!

About the description - he didn’t mean the leitmotif would be in random songs! He meant that Girl Next Door and Lost Girl would not always play in situations related to Noelle. Like how Girl Next Door plays when Kris and Susie eat the *[Moss!]* together in Cyber City. Sort of like how Memory plays in scenes unrelated to Asriel in UNDERTALE, like when Undyne is talking about Asgore.
wait does girl next door actually play when kris and susie eat moss? i dont remember it happening despite playing ch2 twice
@@yeeyt464 it does. but you have to hold off on eating the moss until noelle gets switched out for susie and ralsei
So in Undertale, the songs related to Asriel are like how special was Asriel to the fallen child because they are refering on Asriel and its family, maybe the reason because Girl Next Door plays on that moment is because how Noelle wants to treat Susie in the same way, Kris did to her with the moss? or just showing the kindness related on Susie as a song.
Took me longer than it should've to realize that Susie's theme was hidden in Lost Girl v2.
Yep. Me too.
Yep smae
gay gay homosexual gay
its amazing.. i do hope they end up together or just doesnt end up breaking Noelle's heart
@@halmittensbelieve me, after the ferris wheel scene buildup, there's NO WAY those two don't end up together by deltarune's finale!!!!!!
Girl next door feels like getting a hug from your childhood friend
But in reality you are just getting invited to an library to study by you childhood friend
that's exactly what it is
kind of remindz me of sayori ddlc actually
@@ltheoddboy UH
DON'T
DON'T SAY THAT
DON'T JINX NOELLE
@@ltheoddboyalso fun fact the song “Flashback” that plays on the SnowGrave route slightly resembles “Sayo-Nara” from DDLC
You missed 'flashback' from the snowgrave route. That also uses Noelle's motif.
Probably wasn't included because flashback is currently just an excerpt, i guess.
No it doesn't
@@toothpasteboy1763 It does but it's slowed down. Listen closely and it uses the same notes.
In noelle's words: its kind of nostalgic.
Wow kirby just wow
Ferris wheel is so underrated, it does a great job of encapsulating young and awkward love beginning.
I'm pretty sure Girl Next Door is Noelle's theme. And that Lost Girl has the Girl Next Door leitmotif. Not the other way around.
lost girl was revealed first so most people refer to it as what they associated it with first
@@yeeyt464 I know, but Girl Next Door is first in the soundtrack and the only one of the two songs to play more than once.
@@yaboi8er yes, you're right. I'm not saying you're wrong, just explained why people including the uploader refer to it as the "Lost girl" leitmotif
@@yeeyt464 Fair enough.
Girl Next Door mostly plays in scenes not related to Noelle, one being where you find the moss with Susie and Ralsei, and the other playing when you defeat Queen(while Noelle is also there, it plays more like a "we did it" type of song). The only scene where Girl Next Door plays specifically for Noelle is when Kris and Susie are about to enter Castle Town. Lost Girl, on the other hand, currently only plays when Noelle is the main focus of a scene. One being in her room(duh), and the other after she stood up against Queen after the GIGA Queen battle. So yeah, that's why Lost Girl is Noelle's theme.
Oh woww it's so amazing how susie's theme was in lost girl v2. I wish toby kept it in the released version
Who knows? Maybe Toby will throw it into a future chapter.
Gonna be honest I don’t hear it. I hear the background tune you’re talking about but it doesn’t sound like Susie’s theme to me.
@@lasagna3289 It's higher pitched and sped up. And the lenghts of pauses between each note is different from the original. I mean it technically isn't really susie's theme but sounds similar to it which makes sense conceptually
According to Toby's tweets it will be used in future chapters.
Toby is such a genius. Seriously. Everything he does is perfect. In regards to everything he makes, he just knows exactly what he's making and does it absolutely flawlessly.
Lost Girl is my fav character theme so far tbh. The way it plays on the Susie and Noelle cutscene made me so immersed.
Genuinely hope It keeps popping up in the next chapters
Girl next door is such a happy tune, one of my favorites.
Lost Girl is the most beautiful track in chapter 2 in my opinion, thank you for spotlighting this amazing melody!
Lost girl is extremely melancholic and tells you SO much about Noelle
Probably an unpopular but this is so easily my favourite motif of the Chapter. So cute and calming.
I love girl next door just because it’s a simple cheerful tune
I hope to god we're able to hear the full version of Lost Girl V2, it feels like something that'd fit a happy reunion or a confession scene.
I would say that the credits theme (Until Next Time) might also have the beginning motif from Girl Next Door. As for Noelle.ogg, I'd theorise that Noelle's theme would change to reflect some change in her mood after the events of Chapter 2. Of course, with Snowgrave, it would definitely not go in a jollier direction as Noelle.ogg goes.
The echoes of Gaster's theme are strong with Motif B
is it though?
Not really
Noelle themes are very related to Gaster musically, but not that much contextually, which could mean a connection between Noelle and Gaster in some way?
Really love this motif, probably my favorite so far. All of these songs capture the different aspects of Noelle so well.
I was learning to play Girl Next Door because I thought it was a really cute and atmospheric song, which describes the fun-loving "Rudy" spirit in Noelle that struggles not to get smothered by her tragic situation. Like Rudy, though, that carefree, joking nature can't be held down forever. Comparatively to Lost Girl, it's very upbeat, free sounding, and almost ragtimey.
When I played the main pitch-bending melody part (the part we all know the song for) separate from the bass and other flesh of the song, though, wow. To me, that melody on it's own is immense, pure melancholy and loneliness. About right for our selfless, lonely, terrified, walked on little girl, I guess :(
Hmm... A truly mixed emotion in that little reindeer i see..
Btw nice music perception :>
2:07 Also, this part is exactly like the end of Thrash Machine. And, considering there's a song that literally remixes Thrash Machine (Acid Tunnel of Love), and this entire melody that's a remix of Lancer's theme and has really become the Thrash Machine's theme, yet doesn't include this ending motif, I'm pretty sure this is the new Friendship motif.
The unused Lost Girl sounds so good wtf
You want perfect music for falling asleep? Stitch Lost Girl and Lost Girl v2 together, then slow it down (no pitch normalization) to 85%. Thank me later :)
How do you slow it by percantages
i love this song, more than anything i love you, keep it up lad!
thx for the heart i appreciate it
These themes are so relaxing, I love it
I noticed that the part at the end of the B leitmotif also appears at the end of thrash machine. Not sure if Noelle's theme or thrash machine came first or what the connection is but its something to think about.
For me, a single word is enough to describe it all: nostalgic
All Songs with The Legend Chapter 2
lol
I feel almost the same feeling as with the song "Undertale"
Hope that the Lost Girl OST make a appearence in other chapters
Toby said it would in the update he teased the song in.
That was a silly question considering how much toby likes reusing his leitmotifs
What if the opposite is true for if you continue down Snowgrave and the song evolves to be more sinister instead of sweet
Ok after hearing these back to back, I gotta say I like how the unused music sounds compared to the used ones. That being said they also feel like final, more upgraded versions of the used ones so it feels like they would appear later in the story.
Noelle is so adorable!
Lost Girl V2 is amazing, I wish it had been kept in the official release like the rejected version of Berdly.
FINALLY, SUSIE'S THEME IN SOMETHING AAAAAAAA
She has so much variations of her motifs it's crazy
i had a dream a month ago that you made this video but it had 2 songs, and the second one was from a movie where someone started singing it and the rest called him a donkey because they didn't want to get sued
Idk, but I also think that the beginning of "Until Next Time" (the credits theme in this chapter) is very similar to the part A of Noelle's leitmotif.
I don't know why Lost Girl is so good but I won't deny it
I love those themes. I just like them a lot. Good video.
Hey MediaMotifs, I just wanted to point out a part in BIG SHOT in which you mentioned in a video is not a leitmotif, it isn't precisely, it's just the King's laugh sped up and pitched a little bit, I hope you know which part I am referring to ;)
The song seem... sad? Its strange to hear them, but also nice and relaxing.
Quite a nice collection of songs. I didn't listen to it way back when even if I saw the tweet. Very nice video. Approaching small Leitmotif video!
Thanks for the vid mate!
Now we know that Lost Girl is Dess’ theme
I think hopes and dreams / memory really fits into Girl Next Door / Lost Girl leitmotif, and I dont know why, maybe its just my head.
I think Noelle.ogg was made to find what Noelle's leitmotif should be, and Girl Next Door was the finalized version
Lost girl v2 sounds slightly something that could be meant for snowgrave
Honestly when I first heard this I instantly thought of the "you was at the club" meme
Love Itttt!!!
Gosh, I have to comment just one more thing, sorry. I just really love these songs.
Ferris Wheel is the only one of these that sounds actually happy to me, now that I think of it. She was carefree for once, all the worries of her life melted away for a second, and she could just be pure Noelle. Girl Next Door sounds like it's trying really hard to seem happy, but is really well, lost. Confused.
Lost Girl just sounds totally desolate. Like she's just given up. It is very sad. Part of me is upset that Noelle was singled out for the abuse route, but it makes sense, because she's easy prey. I just want to her to feel happy and loved by the end, free from pain, and free from being under someone's thumb.
Noelle.ogg is such a rambunctious version of the song, and if December is how I imagine her as a character- a very rambunctious and playful person, it would fun for Noelle.Ogg to become a song for December.
I love this motif.
I am ALSO a Lost Girl enthusiast.
Good vid ☆
Lost girl v2 hits different
I knew you'd mention noelle.ogg! Honestly every variation of these themes are just great to listen to, Toby really did make the song feel like about the neighbour next door, great job on these videos as always!
I didn’t realize that the Lost girl in the game was different than the one Toby posted! I was wondering why it sounded just a bit off to me in game (as someone who listened to the twitter version obsessively when it came out)
Hey! I love that part at the end where Lost Girl v2 is combined with Susie's theme, is there anywhere else we could find it?
Lost girl v2 will probably be used for some Noelle/Susie moment but for Noelle.ogg, i don't fucking know.
Probably for Dess or something.
Something I noticed, and I don't know if it's just me, but A CYBER'S WORLD? and Welcome to the city seem to share some motifs. I was wondering if you could cover that
they are almost the same song
@@Yvelluap It's because the motifs represent the Cyber World itself
One thing I find interesting is that the A section in Lost Girl is actually the same rhythm and chord progression as the "Neo/Battle Against A True Hero" leitmotif.
Big shot has a leitmolif to noelles theme, you have to decompose the song to hear it
part a is itself a remix of the fallen down motif, and part b is a remix of the heartache motif
I love ferris wheel so much
I swear to god, I'm like 70% sure that Noelle's themes include a Susie motif in them.
During the ferris wheel song I can mostly hear KRIS WHERE THE FUCK ARE WE
Yooo A new MediaMotifs Video 🤫
Yo cool it's the girl who froze my chicken nuggies >:(
lost girl v2 is gonna be played at her marriage
Great i didn't know there is Lost Girl v2
Still waiting for the Cyber Battle (Solo) video.
1:40 hey that's a don't forget leitmotif
am i the only one who hears gaster's theme in the bass of Girl Next Door?
Noelle.ogg really gives me the Pokemon musics vibe
yea gen 5?
@@nijinoodle Yea def gen 5, feels like a song that would play in a specific town or when you meet with someone
Theme of Stella The Cat.
susies theme in lost girl v2 omg they’re canon
The Disney gay character leitmotif
the toby fox nerdy girl x badass girl leitmotif
Parts of Girl Next Door remind me of Darkness Falls
Cool
Nole
i'll remember you when christmas comes
Yea
lost girl have lost girl leitmotif omggggggggg
Lost Girl v2 sounds like a chill remix of Doctor from Homestuck.
Noelle.ogg is definitely my favourite here
Will you do a ‘all songs with the Cyber Battle leitmotif’?
Probably at some point, yeah
fun fact: susie’s leitmotif is in girl next door and lost girl v2:)
Really? I couldn't hear it on Girl Next Door...
Noelle is precious
i think noelle.ogg is just a version of girl next door that toby wasn't happy with so he remade it. As to why its still in the game, idk
I think ferris wheel is best of noelle themes.
Guys is it me or music ferris wheel is sound like in 2x hosiptial
Is it just me or did i hear jevils theme in gnd?
HEY! PEOPLE IN THE FUTURE! Do Noelle and Susie get together?
Can somebody hear me...
The Unused Noelle.ogg Theme Is Seen In The Files Btw
It's A Much More Energetic, School-like Theme For Noelle
(Reminds Me Of School Love Story Happy Endings Lol But These Types Of Films Make Me Cringe)
Shouldn't "until we meet again" be ehere?
where is the golden Kris
For some reason I like Noelle.ogg better than Girl Next Door
Hi :D
Hello BoniThe ChubbyPotato
Wait, chapter two came out two years ago?
Nah, it came out in 2021. Although Toby Fox released a couple of songs from it in 2019.
