I know that a lot of people love to make jokes that Toby only made like 4 songs at all, but personally I have to give credit for making each variation feel fresh and catchy in their own way, and actually that’s kinda the point of a leitmotif, to remind you of a certain event and what not, and it reminding you makes these scenes much more powerful and memorable.
It's for that reason I think Pandora's Palace is one of the best tracks for Ch. 2. When I first heard Queens theme, I was like "Oh we're gonna get a variant just like Chaos King for the final fight." When you first heard Elegant Entrance its like Card Castle but Queen's theme, and you think its just that for her entire mansion. But that fast paced track kicks in and you realized Toby still knows how to make things feel fresh.
Seriously. His manipulation of the tracks and how he envisions each variant is just genius. There is a ton of ultra dedicated teamwork going into this and I hope it keeps up throughout the future chapter. Or at least doesnt degrade too much.
I feel that leitmotifs when done right are a very great tool to tie characters, places and events together through music without outright telling you X or Y are related or have any sort of connection. We do the connection ourselves through the music
Pandora's Palace and Attack of the Killer Queen my beloved...
I feel you can say that for both UT & DR OSTs
Toby has done beautiful tracks, I'm surprised he's not a musical artist....
Toby Fox is a master of leitmotifs, Big SHOT is a song made entirely of leitmotifs and he made it work
ASGORE is like that too.
BIG SHOT is literally every undertale leitmotif (and some deltarune) smooshed into one song
Not just work my guy
dude death by glamour is litteraly just mtt motifs compilation, and its one of the best songs in the ost.
Also undyne and mettaton’s boss fights
My head canon is that queen talks at the current tempo of her ost, and there is nothing you can do to convince me otherwise

I love that the leitmotif in Smart Race is very subtle cause she's there at the battle, just off screen and ignoring berdley, so its rather fitting
Queen isn’t really evil, she’s just chaotic good that isn’t aware how serious her actions are
Yeah. She really switches up when she realizes what she’s doing has such huge consequences. And she showed multiple times that she truly cares about Noelle.

The term "instant classic" really seems to apply to deltarune, especially the new chapter. I'm going to spend the next decade of my life eagerly awaiting the next 5 chapters.

Yes same, it’s just beautiful to listen to
Agreed
My name is Yoshikage Kira. I’m 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don’t smoke, but I occasionally drink. I’m in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning.
I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I’m trying to explain that I’m a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn’t lose to anyone.
@@azzyz9732 i'm almost ashamed of taking more than a second to figure out why would you say that
Same. Although I kind of love the entire song honestly. The fact that the mixtape is basically a funny small version of killer queen primed me to jam the fuck out when I actually got to the boss battle because i already enjoyed the mixtape so much. I was disappointed when Lancer would only play me the start of the mixtape lol
I love when someone uses a lietmotif multiple times. It's not lazy, it makes the track more memorable and more meaningful. It makes me sad when I want to check if a character has a theme and they just don't. Giving a character a theme and lietmotif to spread among their scenes makes them so much more impactful
I completely agree. I used to push for this view in the UT OST comments
the D variation is only used in 2 moments: the queen fight and the banana scene, I just love how in the most stupid moment of all the music starts kicking in so damn hard
I really like how it plays subtly under the main melody of Smart Race to show the Queen's (semi-involuntary) control over Berdly, and how both main melodies are equally present in Attack of the Killer Queen as you're "fighting" both of them.
-man this song is fire, how is it called?

I adore queen's participation in smart race 😂, it's so subtle and bare minimum, like she really doesn't want to be associated with Berdly, but she knows she kinda has to.
The B-Section To me feels like a very overt reference to THE WORLD REVOLVING. It's even got The Circus in the background.
thats actually the baseline of the legend, which is another lemotif
thats not the circus it’s literally just a waltz??? it’s just waltz music it’s actually in a lot of music toby fox did not invent 3/4 time

Queen's boss theme being "Attack of the Killer Queen" just fits so well with how much of a memelord she is.
Plus, she has exploding glasses
i'm surprised no one has still noticed: but The World Revolving actually has a part resembling the Queen motif!!
it's the second part of the chorus, 40 seconds into the song. but since it plays more like a riff, its pretty hard to notice
Would make sense since Jevil is the first to tell us about the Queen
I can't tell where it is :(

Toby really out here making OST's that boil down to a total of 250 tracks with 230 of them being derivatives of the other 20
Small extra: The part starting at 6:13 is Berdly's leitmotif, since he of course is also part of the fight.
I know that Power of NEO's leitmotif is in Big Shot, but I had a sudden thought, with how much both Queen and Spamton remind me of Mettaton, (while Spamton has the obvious parallels Queen has many moves involving her legs and seems to have a very similar build to EX) could we possibly get a video on every song that shares a leitmotif with Metal Crusher and Death by Glamour?
"Smells like *_overclocked High-Heels."_*
Everybody, even if unconsciously, thought of mettaton, when "legs attack" showed up in her battle.
@@Quasarel I... actually didnt. Like... at all. This comment literally reminded me that Mettatton has legs attacks. Honestly I forgot about Mettatton existing in general lol

Undertale: has a scene named ”Attack of the killer robot”
Deltarune: has a song named ”Attack Of The Killer Queen”

It’s front-and-center in the song, which you’d expect because that’s what motifs are for, they sort of act like a theme song for a particular character. can we just appreciate the fact that the laughing part in pandora palace is actually part of the gameplay?
A simple diversion is one of my favorite songs on the ost because of how it stays extremely simple and sounds extremely cool at the same time.
Edit: also giga size is extremely underrated
I don't know why .. but it sounds like there's a Stronger Monsters motif in Knock You Down.
both songs sound the same-ish and i think they use some of the same instruments
it's just the instruments yeah
Same instrument
the beggining does sound like stronger monsters.
I hear it too!
Attack of the Killer Queen probably my the most favourite theme from this chapter! It's just so cool can't even describe it
I thought giga size was supposed to be an “Oh my...” song
But turns out it’s a full song
An honourable mention might be the world revolving.
I swear I can hear queen's theme somewhere in there.
The Part B of the lietmotif and the benning of Pandora Palace remember well "The World Revolving"
@@depio_ can talk
Also love the part at 2:04, repeating the same notes + extra parts with higher emphasis always gives me goosebumps, it's like the music is demanding my full attention
Part D of the Queen’s theme is definitely my favourite.
I feel like you also should have mentioned the element of D that is present within the 'Berdly theme' part of attack of the killer queen. and possibly how it changed the way it sounds compared to Berdly's other themes
Queen's lietmotif is so interesting in Ch2, it goes through so many different styles and yet always keeps that sassy feeling behind Queen I love it
0:24 I love the tempo change here, both highlighting the B section and helping accentuate that royal vibe Queen has.
1:30 Its use in Smart Race to represent Queen's hold over Berdly is a cool detail.
4:21 And let's be honest Pandora Palace (along with Cool Mixtape) turns it into an absolute banger!
I really love how 6:39 Giga Size turns it into a much more menacing melody, and how 8:10 Knock You Down! even references the motif back from 0:59 A Simple Diversion!
But my favorite use has to be, of course, 5:33 Attack of the Killer Queen! I beleive it has the widest range of the motif use, using almost every variation! And the way it combines with Smart Race, showing Queen's control over Berdly once more, turns it into an awesome battle theme!
Thanks for doing that video. "Attack of the killer Queen" is my favourite soundtrack from chapter 2 , and also : i agree with you at 2:04 , its the best part of it

I like that Giga Size has the same percussions as Despair from Undertale
I like how every song that mentions queen actually has an A fragments
You should do a video about songs with the world revolving's / the circus's leitmotif.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for showing us how great Toby Fox is at connecting the whole of a story together in such an awesome but cleverly nuanced way.

To me, the last part of "Attack of the Killer Queen" sounds more like a part from "The World Revolving". It makes sense, considering that she became influenced by the Knight. Not in a way that made her go nutsy cuckoo, mind you, but because she's a computer. There's a thing called machine learning. XD
