Hi Anton, thanks for your comment. I'd like to hear the noise. Maybe you can upload a video of it? Depending on mileage and how often you change the oil it's very possible that serious engine damage could be starting. If so you do not want to continue to drive the vehicle. These cars are great but the engines are prone to a lot of issues.

Hi thank you for your comment. I'm not sure exactly what you mean. There is an oil filter but this is not directly at the crankshaft. There are two oil seals at the crankshaft, one on each side. These are called main oil seals.
What is the tightening torque number with a dynometric wrench for the crankshaft and cylinder head?

What year is that xe. Im getting ready to buy a xf on friday. Is this going to be a huge mistake?
Hi Rocco, it's 2015. Any JLR vehicle's with the 2.0 ingenium diesel engine will suffer with these issues unfortunately. Unless they have been serviced every 6,000 miles or so.
