I cannot thank you enough for posting this. I was born and raised in Michigan. I left when I was 20. I come back every now and then, as I still have family there but I have been gone for too long and I miss my Home state! I live in CA now, and we just don't have winter like this at all. So beautiful! So natural...so elemental! Michigan will always be in my heart!
I’m the opposite! Lived in Los Angeles for 25 years and recently moved to Detroit for grad school. My gf is from southern MI but she’s taking me to see everything about the state even the UP!

What a beautiful piece of work!!! I snowmobiled in the UP for over 20 years and was never disappointed by nature’s beauty once. I’ve wanted to live up there for forty years but never made it. Please keep making videos like this it’s the closest thing I have to the real thing anymore.
I have been living 31 years in upper Peninsula, and it is like my second home town now. Such a beautiful and peaceful God’s country. This video is so amazing and really shows beauty of upper Peninsula 💕💕💕

As much as I hate to admit it, but I love winter. I hate driving home during a snow storm with no plow out. I dislike constantly shoveling snow. But, I love being out by myself on my snowshoes, and listening to the wind in the pine trees. And I love that first sign of spring. Or mid March, or later, when the locks open for the ships.

I’m from Iron Mountain, and to find this on my recommendations is sooo cool. I’m so happy I found it!! Not many people who don’t live around the UP know the true beauty of it, not just in the winter. I am from up north, and we used to vacation as a family in the 80's in and around Iron Mountain. Coming back with my own son now to be back where we belong after years in the South. Can't wait to get home.

About to head outside and get me some U.P. winter in a little over an hour. Anyone who doesn't live here probably finds this beautiful (and it is) but 6 to 8 months of it per year gets old after 32 years lol.
Lived in Marquette county for 31 years now. Winter is definitely beautiful here but... It's also the bane of our existence here lol. Great video!
My state . I fought for it in the military, worked for it in factories & farms, enjoy it ice fishing, hunting & natural beauty. I truly hope this will be my final resting place at death . I love my state of Michigan.

@@justinlamb3822 the Newberry area is really tourism driven and of course covid has reeked havoc on it. There is a Louisiana Pacific mill there as well as a prison. If your interested in either of those type of jobs.

The U.P. is a beautiful place .... I really hated to leave it. Sometimes when you are busy making plans .... life interferes ~8^) I've been to many of the places you highlight here .... brings back many memories. I even remember skiing back to Eben Ice caves. Thanks for the vid.
Life moves a little slower up here in da u.p....and I like that.
This detroit city boy went to nmu in Marquette in the early seventies. Knew nothing about the upper. Made some good up friends. Learned how to ski, and have been visiting up there every year since. God's country.

Beautiful- my wife is trying to move us to Northern MI for retirement. I say UP!
Theres literally nothing in what Trolls (people from the L.P., under the bridge) call "Northern Michigan" although I hear Traverse City and Petoskey are nice, but you may as well move to the U.P. I'd recommend Marquette.
Prepare yourself for REAL snow.
@@70stunes71 That's what I keep hearing. My wife loves it and I guess we'll just have to get used to it. I've heard they do a much better job up there with keeping the roads cleared? I like that people actually seem to get out and do stuff even when there's snow on the ground- here, everyone hibernates for the entire winter- it's ridiculous.
@@swtexan6502 People do a lot of ice fishing, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, downhill skiing and snowboarding and of course snowmobiling.
I'm gonna be going to MTU this fall for my PhD, graduating from Texas State! Eat em up!

I grew up Up there and have recently retired. We are heading UP. I'm not a winter fan, so we'll probably spend some time down south somewhere. But I so love summers and autumns there. It's such a beautiful area.

Hey Michigan's upper peninsula is pretty in the winter time cold too think about what minus 40 + 5 ft of snow but pretty

That was the UP200 in Marquette. I know the UP200 will be going on this February, not sure on the Copper Dog

This is why the hubby and i ARE moving to Michigan around Atlanta or onaway area in 2021
You know that the Atlanta area has Michigans only wild Elk herd right? I’ve been lucky enough to capture them a few times near Vanderbilt in the Pigeon River State Forest. If me moving to Marquette doesn’t work out, the Gaylord area would be my next choice.
I hope it doesn't get destroyed by the "outdoorsy Instagram crowd" like the western states have. Videos like this dont help with preservation.

Look, calm down. its not that dramatic. its cool yes, but -30 isnt too cold or neither is 6 inches of snow that much. go to a place like Norway, they're probably worse than copper harbor.
No one is being dramatic besides you :) of course there are colder places. Norway is partially in the Arctic circle; the U.P isnt so -30+ and 5ft of standing snow is a lot for the Midwest.
