This car really makes the old M2 look like an OLD car (1st 1-series vibe). I really like it except for the weight!!! I would always go for a secondhand Porsche btw
I love the look of this car, I think the design will actually end up aging really well and people will love it in the future. (this is coming from someone who has hated almost all of BMW's new designs over the last 2-3 years).
I’m so glad someone else likes it too. Everybody is rightfully trolling bmw, and I’m not even bmw guy, but I saw this and instantly thought it was handsome and timeless 😅
I currently own an M2 Competition, but am trading it in for an RS3 I ordered in a few weeks. I've been somewhat hesitant, wondering what the new M2 would look like. I'm no longer hesitant. I'm very glad I chose the RS3. This is ugly as hell imho. The rims are definitely an improvement over mine, but that's about it.
I've come to realise that new BMW designs take time to make sense. I wasn't sure about the new 4-series at first but now I think it looks great. Grill and all.
Agreed. The cars that look rubbish on UA-cam always turn heads on the road. The cars that are too pretty on UA-cam generally blend in on the road. BMW are pushing it with design boundaries.
The new 4 series is absolutely gorgeous (beautiful lines, perfect proportions) except for that damn grill. Doesn't matter how many times I see it on the streets, it still looks terrible to me
New M2 is an interesting study in this sort of 'modern brutalism'. I do think it has a design logic to it, which is simpler and blunter, which is more modern. It makes the front of the old M2 look very dated. The old M2 needs the all black grille. Was that really only on the CS or is that just the pictures Carwow has chosen?
I like this styling. Seems a little less concerned with looking the part and more in a favor of raw performance/ utility. It’s conservative yet aggressive.
It has a sort of futuristic boxy look to it. I dig it a lot imo. I think 100 years from now people will say the design is timeless even if we currently think it looks a bit strange because were not used to these types of designs yet.
When I see a design theme change of this significance I always think... "where are they heading with this". I think the answer to that is that there will be an M2 electric version built on the exact same platform. It does not make any sense otherwise to have those rather boring but functional front air ducts specifically aligned to where an electric motor might sit at the front wheels..... could I be right???? Time will tell....
I think the new M2 will grow on people. I really don't think it looks all that bad. But spec does matter quite a bit. It's gotta be in the right color. That "Hyundai N" color in the "leaked" photo all over the internet made it look much worse then this frozen red one. And I think other colors to come will look really good as well.
I actually like the way it looks. It grew on me i especially love the side profile, just needs a bigger duck wing. Ill get mine in a dark green someday.
People are just repeating his opinion. I like what BMW is trying to do. They won't hit it out of the park all the time but eventually it will work (design language). I think the M2 will be a classic.
I think she's a beaut. It looks like the e36 and the 1M had a baby. The interior leaves a lot to be desired... where is the German "less is more" aesthetic? Stick shift, though! Whoo!
Am I the only one who likes the design? To me, it reminds me of the original M3, where it's boxy but also aggressive. I think it’s a great improvement from the 2023 M240i. They fixed the headlights, aligned the grille, and make the hood feel shorter. The back looks kinda fat, I admit, but the front honestly doesn’t look that bad. My only complaint with the old M2 was that it didn’t look aggressive enough (don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful design), but this one looks like a mini muscle car. I don't think the car deserves all this hate.
I agree with you. You have to evolve a design and can’t stay in the past. Look at how popular the new m3 and m4 are now after it’s backlash at launch. It looks much better than the leaked images.
the car looks really good and I don't get the praises over the previous gen M2. It was nice looking but this one is better, has much more in common with the good old BMW's. it may be actually the first BMW I'll ever buy. The weight may be a small bummer but M4 carries it's weight really well. And if only the M2 was 100kg lighter that would be a killer (they'll probably reserve it for the CS version).
Bmw has the "gift" to suprise us with its new designes a long time now,the same thing where about the past M3&M4's ... Bmw brings the new era in automotive once again, the new of course!
I LOOOVE the new look! in my opinion is an instant classic. We will hear of this bimmer in years to come for the design. It reminds me of the character of Giulietta GT or Fulvia HF from the 60s. Small, packs a punch and is stilish.
@@damiendegrasse well it's a modern car. Unless you buy an Atom or a Seven there is not much out there that weight much less than 2 tons. Modern safety and comfort makes car heavy. And if you think what speed and driving performance barges and Chelsea tractors have nowadays this is a mosquito.

@@matrinezkevin11492 I'll donate em to you old school.. Time to see better things
Gives off the look of the old late 90's early 2000's M3 I used to love those
I love the look of this car, I think the design will actually end up aging really well and people will love it in the future.
BMW's design team is out of idea already how to design proper sports car.
I like the new M2, actually, looks more muscular.
Is the engine the same as the m240i but tuned or is it diff? Could you get the 240 up to those figures without blowing something up??
I acc really like this. The new bumper makes the rear lights look so much better
This M2 vs RS5 in drag race would be interesting. They both have almost the same power and weight and both have 3 l 6 cylinder.
Put it againsted rs3 vosprung
damn thats a lot of cylinders
Mat just said, RS3 kills it off the line
@@thatohato3443 what about M2 against RUFs (CTR3, CTR2, and CTR YELLOW BIRD)?
@@goldsnafu yep. 16cyl.
I can't wait to see the final product !
yes maybe this a prototype
They could have so easily met in the middle design wise, slightly less square, better rear lighting and it could have been stunning
I definitely love the new look.... It compliments BMW's impressive suspension.... Now the car looks exactly like how it feels when driving 👌
It looks just fine but it needed to be at least 150 KGs lighter. Overall a beast.
I've come to realise that new BMW designs take time to make sense. I wasn't sure about the new 4-series at first but now I think it looks great. Grill and all.
🤣 yeah nahh, go to specsavers pal
Doesn't matter how many times I see it on the streets, it still looks terrible to me
i’m sorry but everytime i see a new BMW. i can only prevent myself from vomiting because of how hideous they look. you need your eyes checked
@@zhila5958 dramatic 🙄
If you put the F80 next to this it's the perfect example of a Professional artist and your best drawing from junior school
Looks great from the right angle.. that being in a dark room facing away from it!
Richard, imagine if we got a drag race between 2022 BMW M2 vs 2007 RUF CTR3 vs 1997 RUF CTR2 SPORT?
@@purwantiallan5089 atleast the RUFs wouldn't have to look at the M2 🤣
And this is said by someone who has a nasty and boring renault on his avatar
@@czesaw597 boring fully built NLS race car but hey sorry to hurt a bmw fanboy...again
The front vents going to suck up all the bugs in Summer😁...I'll take a couple of M2s
Maybe a few small mammals too
Think it looks great, way more modern than the old model
U on meth
never been a BMW fan, but I absolutely love this new design! Not sure why theres so much hate in this video
I love the retro square boxy look!! I hope this design trend continues... 80s style the best
Iam loving it😍
New M2 is an interesting study in this sort of 'modern brutalism'. I do think it has a design logic to it, which is simpler and blunter, which is more modern. It makes the front of the old M2 look very dated. The old M2 needs the all black grille. Was that really only on the CS or is that just the pictures Carwow has chosen?
At least they’re improving. Can’t get worse than the M4. Can they?
They can
lately all new BMWs look like GTA5 non-copywritten cars trying to be BMWs
I like this styling. Seems a little less concerned with looking the part and more in a favor of raw performance/ utility. It’s conservative yet aggressive.
It has a sort of futuristic boxy look to it. I dig it a lot imo. I think 100 years from now people will say the design is timeless even if we currently think it looks a bit strange because were not used to these types of designs yet.
dude… lets be real it looks like shit, idk how some ppl like this design…
When I see a design theme change of this significance I always think... "where are they heading with this". I think the answer to that is that there will be an M2 electric version built on the exact same platform. It does not make any sense otherwise to have those rather boring but functional front air ducts specifically aligned to where an electric motor might sit at the front wheels..... could I be right???? Time will tell....
Exactly what i think. But how much will an ev weigh?
As much as I’m not a massive fan of the front bumper I’ve got to admit it does sound good
That seals it. I’m keeping my E46 M3 manual, at least I can say it looks great
I actually think it looks pretty good, the kidney girls pay pretty good homage to the older m3s and I think the square vents will grow on us
I think the new M2 will grow on people.
Whoo!
1m still the grail. In design, in size, in simplicity, in lightness...
How is 3900 lbs light 😅
I love the sharper lines and the wheels fit it nicely
Bmw has the "gift" to suprise us with its new designes a long time now,the same thing where about the past M3&M4's ... Bmw brings the new era in automotive once again, the new of course!
Look at how they massacred my boy 😪
I LOOOVE the new look! in my opinion is an instant classic. We will hear of this bimmer in years to come for the design. It reminds me of the character of Giulietta GT or Fulvia HF from the 60s. Small, packs a punch and is stilish.
I agree, bmw design has become very very questionable lately but this is 10/10
Small, extremely overweight
@@damiendegrasse well it's a modern car. Unless you buy an Atom or a Seven there is not much out there that weight much less than 2 tons. Modern safety and comfort makes car heavy. And if you think what speed and driving performance barges and Chelsea tractors have nowadays this is a mosquito.
Interior is stunning!
what’s crazy is it shares the S58 motor… Downpipes and a tune and they push around 670whp
This car looks awesome!
if you close the eyes
I like this design. I love the M4 and its performance but the front face is still a problem for me (not a big one). All the data you give us are attractive . This car create a very good reference. I am concerned with the weight 1700 kg . I must check the weight of the RS3 and the C 45 S. The full digital dashboard seem to answer to all request in 2023. This new M2 is KILLER. A lot of famous manufactories will be anxious. Thank you , MAT.
What is wrong with you
Getting F10 M5 vibes from the front of this beauty.
Good I’m not the only one who thinks like that
Looks absolutely nothing like the F10 wtf?
This new M2 makes the original M2 (non-competition) looks even better now.
Something about it seems to harken back to the E36… Which I am seriously digging. 🤘🏻
The old one looked much better but for some reason I just love how this new one look s😂❤ damn I’d love to own one
Looks great. Love it
No it doesn’t 😂
@@Drew858pb "nO iT doESn'T" It's a fatter, bolder and more aggressive looking M2. Might not have the more elegant looks of the old one but it looks bloody good imo.
