Any differences in sound on the title track could be because it was recorded after everything else. When listening to the "finished" album, they decided they needed one more fast song to open the album and threw Hardwired together. There's something to be said for that kind of spontaneity. It turned out to be a great song. Sometimes overthinking just bogs you down~
I'm seeing people disappointed that this is so far away! Go check out the post on my channel about this video for more details on why we cant do it until next weekend. The Doors video got taken down just after I posted it (which I could not do unless UA-cam allowed me to in the first place) which means that the Doors copyright holders must have a setting for videos of a certain length not containing their music. This is continuing to be a major issue for my channel and will inevitable lead to us only being able to do single song videos. ONE MORE TIME LETS US THANK METALLICA FOR BEING AWESOME ENOUGH TO LET US POST THESE VIDEOS! The money all goes to them anyway, so why on earth an artist would not want that is beyond me.
@@TeamWolfySoupy thanks for letting me know...youtube blocked the Doors video. First time that has happened where it posted fine, but was then taken down...hopefully that doesn't happen with any of my older videos...
Thank you everyone for going on this Metallica journey with us over the course of the year! But fear not, we will still be listening to Garage Inc. and S&M sometime early next year! I want to focus the channel on more than just one band next year, so our plan to start off will be to pick 4 songs each from these bands, ranging across their entire catalogue, and then decide which bands to listen to more of...those bands are: Megadeth, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Opeth, Ghost, and who knows who else? But also remember that one of the primary reasons for me having this channel is so that I can react to BRAND NEW albums that are just being released, so that is something that will always be done on the channel as long as we are still around! Again, thank you for watching and we will see you next time!
Now That We're Dead was cut live in the studio with less overdubs than the other songs so that's why it sounds different Also, add a chapter for Am I Savage, it's lumped in with Here Comes Revenge
I enjoyed this series so much. I saved this video for Friday night, got a couple beers in and sat down to enjoy the last Metallica reaction. Cheers for all the effort you guys put into making these videos, they’re great.
Metallica seem very comfortable in their skin on this album. They're not chasing trends or trying recapture their past either. It's just Metallica doing all the stuff they do, and it's admirable in its way.
"They're not chasing trends or trying recapture their past either." In other words, not Death Magnetic. Which is why I prefer Hardwired & 72 Seasons over DM.
That's exactly why I love it. It's the first comfortable album since Jusice, or probably Master, where they're not chasing some direction, just relaxing and letting the music flow.
Patrick during the song "Oh wow I just love this part and this whole song really" Patrick after the song "Honestly it was pretty bad but the kick sounded good so" Love the video man, keep up the energetic reactions up!🤣
Yeas, his channel, his rules, but it's important to take constructive criticism from your fan base. But, he does tend to talk about shit that has nothing to do with the music he's criticizing and concentrates and repeats nitpicks too many times. How many times can you talk about the snare or low vocals? Etc...He dies make fair criticisms sometimes, but you only need to mention it once and move on.
Chris P was SO confident and incorrect when he told you there were no repeated songs on S&M2. There are absolutely repeated songs. Not that it matters much, even the repeats are bangers, but still, the general consensus is that the first one was better. Can't wait for the S&M video!
Can’t wait for this to drop! Been listening to your channel for about a month or 2 now. Listen to them while I’m at work and helps me get through the day! Cheers boys, love from England. 🤘
My brain feels hardwired to put a moth into flame but I can only murder one. It makes me ask myself am I savage or is my manunkind? Now that we’re dead I can’t dream no more so here comes revenge… so let me spit out the bone because my halos on fire and my atlas will rise and I will be one of the lords of summer! I know what you just read you have a lot of confusion.
Thanks for the shout-out, Chris S. Also, love the jokes about not knowing drums and bass. This is definitely an underrated album. I'm glad Patrick enjoyed it as much as he did. Chris P is right about the start of Confusion being similar to "Am I Evil?" which is a song that they did live with members of Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer back when they had the Big 4 concerts. (Though, Tom Araya and Kerry King would typically sit it out in protest because they did not like the song.) Looking forward to "Garage, Inc." You could probably throw in the "Ronnie Rising Medley," "When a Blind Man Cries," and "Remember Tomorrow" with that video, considering they are covers that just released later. I really dig both of those last two. "Lords of Summer" is a lot better in the 'First Pass' version that was released earlier. I think it would be cool if you did a short video comparing the different versions of "Lords of Summer" considering it underwent lyrical changes that made it very 'meta' and self-referential for Metallica. I will continue to profess that you do not need to do the entirety of S&M (1999). James was doing a weird thing with his voice in the late 90s, and it ruins a lot of the classics. But perhaps you want to experience and explore that (like Lulu). "No Leaf Clover" is the best part of the first S&M. And by the way, there are several repeats between S&M and S&M2, including 'Clover.' S&M2 (2019) might even be the better option to discuss in full length video form. (Though, you could potentially skip the orchestra-only parts like Scythian Suite and The Iron Foundry. Not that they're bad, just not relevant to Metallica discussions.) S&M2 features "The Day That Never Comes," "Moth Into Flame," and "Confusion." There is also a different, slower arrangement for "All Within My Hands" from 'St. Anger' on S&M2 that is really, really good. Nice to see that Chris P provides some comfort for spiders by blowing them four times before putting them out of their misery. Charlotte, 2022-2023 rip
for me s&m vocals are great. james is at his peak imo. i know that those vocals aren’t as good as late 80s and 90s, but i like them. sorry if i ask, but who is charlotte?
one comment on the 1:09:30 mark - one constant thing about Metallica records up until Load/Reload, and then starting again around Death Magnetic / Hardwired is that James tracked ALL rhythm guitars (left and right) - but he’s been known to use different amps, guitars, or even blending amps. so it’s possible that the more left prominent guitar you’re hearing on this album is just a more present amplifier that’s being panned hard left!
It's like every video I've seen so far I think of something and then the "left Chris" just agrees with me. It's crazy how often this happens with all the metallica videos
Death magnetic and HTSD especially have videos of the album making, you may be surprised about how well-balanced is Metallica in terms of they are still a garage band and how techy they get
Now That We’re Dead is in the key of E while Atlas, Rise! is in the key of A. Not a higher key. Regardless, I’m glad you’re enjoying the album from what I see so far. I was so pumped for this album when it came out. I was just discovering Metallica when Death Magnetic came out, so Hardwired was my first Metallica album to come out at the height of my fandom!
Wish i was here for the premiere, I was at work. Thanks for doing this guys. After watching this it's reaffirmed that the Hardwired album may be one of the best albums Metallica has ever done. It's a special album to me.
A few thoughts. -Atlas Rise sounds like it took heavy inspiration from Iron Maiden's Hallowed Be Thy Name... maybe in your own time (or possibly when you do Maiden) you can do Hallowed and Atlas back to back. -Atlas, ManUNkind, Bone, and Revenge are my personal favorites from this album. The main riff(s) from Murder absolutely rips face, but the song as a whole just doesnt do it for me. -Overall, while the music is good, to me most of this album feels very forgettable in the sense that i can listen to earlier albums from start to finish and no have the urge to skip... where this album has multiple skippable tracks. -I saw them live at the start of the Hardwired tour, and as with every other time i have seen them it was a great concert with great audio and visual production. On this tour (and possibly after) they did a long break in the middle of Now That We're Dead where the entire band got together at the front of the stage and played an extended "tribal feeling drum solo" before picking their instruments back up and playing out the rest of the song. Might be worth finding a live version of this song to see how much the live version differs from the studio version. -Kirks solos on studio albums have become much more improvisational over time. I personally wish he would knuckle down in the studio and come up with a more composed solo for the studio version and then improvise and noodle for the live versions. As an example of this, the solo from The Unforgiven is one that fits and is also insanely memorable where the solo for any song on this album carries nowhere near the same weight or memorability. Kirk also did an interview recently and confirmed as much, saying that he just enjoys more off the cuff and improvisational solos and has basally decided to do what he enjoys. -A mix of returning to some of the more thrashy elements they are known for and the Load/Reload sound that polarized the fanbase. IMO A good album with some great moments and songs... and (without being condescending) the best the band was capable of churning out at the time of writing and recording. Spit out the Bone was absolutely the best choice to end the album on a high note.
This was the album that Kirk Hammett did not have a lot of input on the solos. According to interviews, he had over 250 "musical ideas" that he kept on a cell phone that he subsequently lost just prior to recording this album. As a result, most of the solo recording sessions were coached by Lars and Greg Fidelman.
Solos or riffs? I understood it to be riffs. If you watch any videos concerning solos, Lars is there giving input on solos, even going back to the Black Album. Hardwired is the only album without a writing credit for Kirk on any songs.
It’s a totally different approach to vocals between Ozzy and Dio. I tried enjoying the Dio stuff, but it’s not for me. Ozzy’s approach has more humanity to it, like he was actually experiencing what the lyrics are about. There is vulnerability to his voice. Dio sounds like he’s the narrator to a story, or he could be the one responsible for the situation the lyrics are about and is enjoying it from a sadistic point of view.
Shout-out from a French Canadian, you have at least one fan in Quebec 😁. The more I listen to this album, the more I think it is a metallica best of without being a best of.
After you guys do some Slayer, you have to go back and find the video "If Slayer Wrote 'Spit Out the Bone.'" If you have a feel for Slayer's style, that version is amazing to hear.
I absolutely adore this album. Listening to all Metallica songs was a huge trip for me because my favourite songs and albums changed so much as I heard more. When I only had the songs I already knew, my favourite song was One and And Justice for All was my favourite album (although I only knew about 3 songs, but it was the same with the previous albums). But by the time I got to Death Magnetic, any song in that album felt as good and often better than my favourite songs from the first few albums, with All Nightmare Long becoming an absolute undisputable favourite that couldn't be compared to One despite how good that song is... then I heard Hardwired and the same happened again. All the songs from Death Magnetic that were apparently unbeatable were completely matched in this album, by almost all of the songs as well. I consider both albums and their songs equally good, but as for favourites, Spit Out the Bone is just THE song. I can't put another song above it; just can't. 72 Seasons I also really loved and I like it more than the first few albums but I don't consider it better than the previous two albums.
I have been a Metallica fan for 22 years. I love their modern style, but I am glad to see that you mentioned that the kick drum is too loud on many of the tracks. That is normally my only qualm with their modern sound.
The "two hours later" gag that Patrick put in the middle of that beautiful break during Dream No More should be punishable by law. Also, James' wrong pronunciation of "Cthulhu" is deliberate, so as to not say the god's actual name and anger/awaken him by mistake, thus playing into the whole Cthulhu mythos. That's also why they named one of their instrumentals The Call of Ktulu instead of Cthulhu.
Yeah, and I think the spelling of "Ktulu" was intentional to try to avoid being sued over the use of "Cthulhu," as it wasn't in public domain yet, at that time.
"Two hours later" was about how long it took for him to open the CD packaging and so forth. 2:09:27 "God, I gotta open this crap" "Two hours later," as he kept opening
"am i evil?" used to be on cassette tape versions of kill 'em all, along with "blitzkrieg" as a result, i tend to feel like the album is incomplete whenever i hear it without them but yeah, "confusion" definitely feels like a call back to "am i evil?" though it is a cover
Yeah, the original version (from Atlantic Records) of Kill 'Em All didn't include "Am I Evil?" and "Blitzkrieg," but when it was re-released in 1984 (from Elektra Records), they added those two cover songs. That is the version of the album that a friend of mine gifted me on cassette after he introduced me to this amazing band! lol Therefore, to me, that is also the version of the album I see as "complete," as well. ;-) lol Years later, when I wanted Kill 'Em All on CD, as well, I also sought out an Elektra version to have those songs included. It actually wasn't easy to find... I think it is rare. I ended up having to buy it second-hand from someone on ebay.
Metallica's website has a list of all of their songs with stats on live performances for each song. Might be interesting to check out after checking out some live Metallica. Love the videos!
I absolutely love the moment where you guys are fighting spiders and looking for a cough drop on the ground SIMULTANEOUSLY. Eventful minute or so that.
I fell asleep during the premiere as it was like 2AM here in Europe :D but thank you guys for doing it again! Going to watch the full video now and looking forward for more Metallica-related things from you guys
Chris Pergler: IMO Fade To Black has the best solo out of all the albums. Patrick Musilek: @Chris Pergler but IT FADES OUT! IT never finishes! --- Actually, the whole point of fading-out in any song is to emphasize, to convey to the listener the idea that this is a boundless, neverending tune! So basically it's just an artistic technique of some sort, showing that the song goes on and on, like forever. And there's really no other way in music to express it.

You could also hear the extra songs in Hardwired to Self Destruct deluxe version (Lords of Summer, Ronnie Rising Medley, When a Blind Man Cries and Remember Tomorrow)
Lords of summer was rerecorded for the album BTW, so there are 2 different versions of the song. Also Dio was in Black Sabbath for 4 records if we count Haven in hell which is basically Black Sabbath under different name.
I thoroughly was rooting for the slider climbing and climbing and re climbing the mic arm. He was so scared. Standing feet away trying to blow on it.... spiders arent ohased by wind.but when it comes to 🔥......
I'm casually listening in the background during work, and I'm guessing that a bunch of other folks already pointed this out. But just in case they didn't, the only song on this album that isn't in E standard is Dream No More! Am I Savage and Hardwired both use regular E tuning on the guitars. It's not important, but if anyone cares about album tunings and the occasional exceptions: Kill 'Em All - E standard(ish), no exceptions Ride the Lightning - E standard, *slightly* tuned up across the entire album Master of Puppets - E standard, except for Thing That Should Not Be (D tuning) ...And Justice for All - E standard, no exceptions Black Album - E standard, except for Sad But True (D standard) and The God That Failed (Eb standard) Load & ReLoad - Eb standard, except for Devil's Dance (D standard) and Bad Seed (C# standard) St. Anger - Uhhh.... it's all over the place with Drop D-style tuning rather than standard variants lol. Early 2000s metal and whatnot Death Magnetic - E standard, except for All Nightmare Long (Drop D) Lulu - ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Hardwired... to Self-Destruct - E standard, except for Dream No More (D tuning) 72 Seasons - E standard, no exceptions
Great video guys!!! Just a correction, James played all rhythm guitars until Load and Reload…he’s been back to doing all rhythm guitars again post-St. Anger, including this album. You guys got it backwards. Lol
I always enjoy your interesting conversations during these reactions. Hours just fly by! These guys should check out another legendary highly influential band called Meshuggah. I think their latest album Immutable could be a great start and gives an indication of their current sound.
I’m surprised that Patrick didn’t notice the increase in volume before the chorus of Halo on Fire. They also, sped up in the solo and I think the did it on the computer
Me personally doesn't care about Megadeth even if I like the countdown album BUT I think it will be interesting to see Patrick's thoughts about the mechanix I look forward to slayer thought
Great reaction as always. Even though this is the end of the Metallica journey, highly recommend maybe a reaction for Garage Inc, S&M 1 and 2, and also I disappear. S&M 1 and 2 are similar, they do have some songs from the 1st album. S&M 2 had some from Death Magnetic and Hardwired. And of course it has the acoustic version with strings of All Within My Hands from St. Anger, which sounds great. Couple of footnotes for you Patrick. Since we both are wrestling fans, as you know over the years, Metallica has been featured as theme songs for PPVs, entrances, and for video promos. From this album, AmI Savage was used for the video package for Triple H and Seth Rollins at Wrestlemania 33. Now That We're Dead was also used at the Undertaker's entrance music for his final match, the boneyard match with AJ Styles at Wrestlemania 36. Another fun fact, Metallica was scheduled to play that song at Wrestlemania for The Undertaker, however that was the covid year, so they didnt get the chance, and just used the song for his match.
We are definitely doing Garage Inc. and S&M next year! And that would have been SO COOL if Metallica could have performed at Wrestlemania! I enjoyed the Boneyard match, but I will forever wish we got a "real" match between taker and AJ for The Undertakers last match...
@@PatrickMusilekI'm on the last episode of "the last ride," and I so wish that takers last match was a tradition match(meaning, not cinematic). Ofcourse, it was a good match style. But still haha
Holy shit, I had forgotten how freakin epic Spit Out the Bone is. I did not envision they had this song in them at that stage of their careers. Havoc wreaking song. I like Hardwired better than 72 Seasons because there are more bangers (for me) than 72 Seasons have who I feel is too repetitive and too "safe" at some degree without a song or two who clearly stands out. Plus to me 72 Seasons is like B side of Hardwired basically. There are so many songs who sounds exactly like something out of Hardwired. The advantage of Hardwired is exactly that it came 7 years earlier than 72 Seasons not vice versa. But that said, Death Magnetic still tops Hardwired
Love this album. I prefer it so much more over their new album... (It had some really amazing guitar harmonies and Inamorata was fantastic in the end, but I would say it's much less memorable and more messy than Hardwired)
I do understand that both Chris' I suppose don't really like Megadeth but from musical standpoint would be great to hear what Patrick has to say about their style and production, and how they changed over time (and I want to know why Chris P and Chris S dont enjoy them) + it kinda is a thing that Metallica and Megadeth are somewhat connected because of their history and rivalry. So, I really, REALLY hope you'll go over their discography, too. Cant wait for Hardwired!
Those "Wake!" shouts were James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo together! You can also see it in the making-of of the song. James and Robert are standing in the "vocal booth" and kinda barking this one word!
Thank you for doing this album, I wanted to ask you if you guys will ever do a Nickelback album, I know how cringe they are, but I think there mix is amazing, they sound super good in my opinion, and will love to hear your thoughts. Thank you
Present Chris, on Now that We’re Dead, when you noticed James’ guitar panning back full left after that part over like 16 bars, what I hear happening is it creeps over there slightly, then on his last high note, it moves faster and fades out into the riff again. Ya’ll inspired me to try out the audio program at my college, and I love when stuff like that happens in music. Also, if I’m way wrong on that, please do not hesitate to correct me. Also, hope you fight hard Patrick!! :-)
I have cracked the code. In the intro, you say ''for the VERY FIRST TIME, but also for the very last time, I get to hear a Metallica album that I've never heard before''. Did you catch that, dear reader who is very bored and is looking through the entire comment section? ''For the very first time, I get to hear a Metallica album that I've never heard before''. This is clear proof that you have been lying to us this entire time. My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.
You know, there's so much new music in the orchestra of S&M, while still not technically a studio release, I do think it can wave the banner of "new Metallica". And I know that it's not as important as Garage Inc. and it won't be wav files but I really think you guys should listen to some old Metallica mixed with more bass -- it really adds a different dimension.
Any differences in sound on the title track could be because it was recorded after everything else. When listening to the "finished" album, they decided they needed one more fast song to open the album and threw Hardwired together. There's something to be said for that kind of spontaneity. It turned out to be a great song. Sometimes overthinking just bogs you down~
I agree 100%
Definitely. The album needs an opener track that just goes straight out of the gate.
Just like Escape. Turned out to be awsome!
I'm seeing people disappointed that this is so far away! Go check out the post on my channel about this video for more details on why we cant do it until next weekend.

Patrick during the song "Oh wow I just love this part and this whole song really"
Patrick after the song "Honestly it was pretty bad but the kick sounded good so"
Love the video man, keep up the energetic reactions up!🤣
Patrick! it’s OK not to talk all the time
Omg yes thank yooouuu
Lmao
Right?
His channel his rules?
Yeas, his channel, his rules, but it's important to take constructive criticism from your fan base. But, he does tend to talk about shit that has nothing to do with the music he's criticizing and concentrates and repeats nitpicks too many times. How many times can you talk about the snare or low vocals? Etc...He dies make fair criticisms sometimes, but you only need to mention it once and move on.
In the new year, it might be cool for you guys to react to the making of videos from Hardwired to Self Destruct. It's a great watch!
Chris P was SO confident and incorrect when he told you there were no repeated songs on S&M2. There are absolutely repeated songs. Not that it matters much, even the repeats are bangers, but still, the general consensus is that the first one was better. Can't wait for the S&M video!
Christ, Chris. Stop being so confident in your incorrectness lmao. There WERE videos for every single song on this album.
@@metallicoustic6733 And those that weren't singles were released one by one hourly on their channel.
Can’t wait for this to drop! Been listening to your channel for about a month or 2 now. Listen to them while I’m at work and helps me get through the day! Cheers boys, love from England. 🤘
Dude says Metallica is not a Metal band. Sugar is not sweet, water is not wet. 😂
Water isn't wet...
No way we have to wait a week tk watch this bruuh
Okay, checked the post. Understandable. Have a great day ✌️🗿
Patrick rocking out hard to the chorus of Dream No More makes me a happy man. That riff just burrows into my soul.
The great thing about Spit Out the Bone is all the development. They get so much mileage out of every idea in that song.
(Though, Tom Araya and Kerry King would typically sit it out in protest because they did not like the song.)
Looking forward to "Garage, Inc." You could probably throw in the "Ronnie Rising Medley," "When a Blind Man Cries," and "Remember Tomorrow" with that video, considering they are covers that just released later.
Charlotte, 2022-2023
rip
for me s&m vocals are great. james is at his peak imo. i know that those vocals aren’t as good as late 80s and 90s, but i like them. sorry if i ask, but who is charlotte?
Charlotte is the spider (ever heard of Charlotte's Web?).
@@kbr1656 and she’s dead? sorry never heard of it
Hardwired was the last song written for this record. I think recorded too, so that might be a reason that it sounds a bit different.
one comment on the 1:09:30 mark - one constant thing about Metallica records up until Load/Reload, and then starting again around Death Magnetic / Hardwired is that James tracked ALL rhythm guitars (left and right) - but he’s been known to use different amps, guitars, or even blending amps. so it’s possible that the more left prominent guitar you’re hearing on this album is just a more present amplifier that’s being panned hard left!
It's like every video I've seen so far I think of something and then the "left Chris" just agrees with me. It's crazy how often this happens with all the metallica videos
This was perfect for the back end of my 7 hour drive thanks boys
I cant wait for this, pls drop it nowww!!!!
HARDWIRED TO SELF DESTRUCT!!!
Death magnetic and HTSD especially have videos of the album making, you may be surprised about how well-balanced is Metallica in terms of they are still a garage band and how techy they get
I love watching the studio sessions and how the songs became to be.
Now That We’re Dead is in the key of E while Atlas, Rise! is in the key of A. Not a higher key.
Regardless, I’m glad you’re enjoying the album from what I see so far. I was so pumped for this album when it came out. I was just discovering Metallica when Death Magnetic came out, so Hardwired was my first Metallica album to come out at the height of my fandom!
man you just cannot stop talking patrick, you re reading album brochure during a harmony man. how is that reacting
Don’t like it, don’t watch. Easy as that
Finally we are back on right track boys. A solid album to listen to and review. 🤟
I put this album up there with the first 4. It's a great Metallica album.
Patrick promised me the other day to react to a live version of Spit out of the bone as a bonus to this video.. can't wait
not just Americans watch your videos, Im from Iran and I like you guys:)
Nothing weird about Dio singing in Sabbath. Heaven and Hell is one of the best metal albums ever made.
Mob Rules is no slouch of an album, either. :-) The Dio years in Sabbath were excellent.
43:24 this is the pre-chorus, not chorus in MOP, the chorus is the open power chords with “MOP I’m pulling your strings…” lyrics 😉
I was at the 'Spit Out The Bone' live debut in oct 2017, London, that nailed it and it was slightly faster. Loved it!!
They would despise Slayer's production.
Patrick’s gonna love the “Halo on Fire” outro.
Man I love watching these videos. Never stop pls
The only detuned song is Dream No More. Patrick kept saying Am I Savage and Hardwired were. Every song on the album but that one are in E Standard.
What does he have against Metallica’s instrumentals?
I have been a Metallica fan for 22 years. I love their modern style, but I am glad to see that you mentioned that the kick drum is too loud on many of the tracks. That is normally my only qualm with their modern sound.
I can't wait!!! This will be my first time listening the whole album and pay attention
My man talks through every single transition
The "two hours later" gag that Patrick put in the middle of that beautiful break during Dream No More should be punishable by law.
Also, James' wrong pronunciation of "Cthulhu" is deliberate, so as to not say the god's actual name and anger/awaken him by mistake, thus playing into the whole Cthulhu mythos. That's also why they named one of their instrumentals The Call of Ktulu instead of Cthulhu.
I think Lovecraft even mentions that his name can barely be spelled with our writing system. So it's a bit up for interpretation I think
Yeah, and I think the spelling of "Ktulu" was intentional to try to avoid being sued over the use of "Cthulhu," as it wasn't in public domain yet, at that time.
"Two hours later" was about how long it took for him to open the CD packaging and so forth.
2:09:27
"God, I gotta open this crap"
"Two hours later," as he kept opening
Guys, murder one is about Lemmy.
Murder one, the name of his infamous marshall amp.
"am i evil?" used to be on cassette tape versions of kill 'em all, along with "blitzkrieg"
as a result, i tend to feel like the album is incomplete whenever i hear it without them
but yeah, "confusion" definitely feels like a call back to "am i evil?" though it is a cover
You really gotta chew chocolate right into the microphone? Jesus goddamn Christ....
I absolutely love the moment where you guys are fighting spiders and looking for a cough drop on the ground SIMULTANEOUSLY. Eventful minute or so that.
Murder One is about lennie from motorhead and the song was dedicated to him. Even the music video is lennie's life.
.... Lemmy.
😆
Patrick has a woefully incomplete idea of what metal vocals are.
---
Actually, the whole point of fading-out in any song is to emphasize, to convey to the listener the idea that this is a boundless, neverending tune! So basically it's just an artistic technique of some sort, showing that the song goes on and on, like forever. And there's really no other way in music to express it.

I May have Missed 2 songs of Unknown. Whoops Whoopsie. So don't get mad. If someone notices which ones, let me know 😤
You could also hear the extra songs in Hardwired to Self Destruct deluxe version (Lords of Summer, Ronnie Rising Medley, When a Blind Man Cries and Remember Tomorrow)
I'm pretty sure they did repeat songs for S&M2
Yes. Many
Lords of summer was rerecorded for the album BTW, so there are 2 different versions of the song.
I don't understand, why leave it for a week to post? post the video today or tomorrow
Because they need to edit the nose whistles the best they can lol
@@jbag27 and why keep suspense for a week? This kills anyone who has anxiety 😂
I'm casually listening in the background during work, and I'm guessing that a bunch of other folks already pointed this out. But just in case they didn't, the only song on this album that isn't in E standard is Dream No More! Am I Savage and Hardwired both use regular E tuning on the guitars.
It's not important, but if anyone cares about album tunings and the occasional exceptions:
Kill 'Em All - E standard(ish), no exceptions
Ride the Lightning - E standard, *slightly* tuned up across the entire album
Master of Puppets - E standard, except for Thing That Should Not Be (D tuning)
...And Justice for All - E standard, no exceptions
Black Album - E standard, except for Sad But True (D standard) and The God That Failed (Eb standard)
Load & ReLoad - Eb standard, except for Devil's Dance (D standard) and Bad Seed (C# standard)
St. Anger - Uhhh.... it's all over the place with Drop D-style tuning rather than standard variants lol. Early 2000s metal and whatnot
Death Magnetic - E standard, except for All Nightmare Long (Drop D)
Lulu - ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hardwired... to Self-Destruct - E standard, except for Dream No More (D tuning)
72 Seasons - E standard, no exceptions
The whole gag on Confusion (spider and rich people’s chocolate drop) was hilarious
They all had videos, they released them all like an hour apart the day before leading up to the release of the album.
I know a little bit about Meshuggah and how influential they are on a lot of bands that I grew up liking, so that might not be a bad idea!
There was a video for every song on this album, one released every day until official album releases
I like how all confusion with the spider and the cough-drop happened during the song Confusion 😁
Garage is definitely considered a studio album
Metallica is easily one of the best bands at doing cover songs. They sometimes do them BETTER than the original... and that a rare thing to behold!
I’m surprised that Patrick didn’t notice the increase in volume before the chorus of Halo on Fire. They also, sped up in the solo and I think the did it on the computer
Me personally doesn't care about Megadeth even if I like the countdown album
BUT I think it will be interesting to see Patrick's thoughts about the mechanix
I look forward to slayer thought
Some people consider Helter Skelter is the first metal song ever. Can't really disagree. Riff, Drumming... There's everyting. Thanks mr McCartney
Forgot lords of summer, that song is a blast
I cannot wait for you guys to cover Pantera and then Trivium down the line!
If the vocals are too quiet, turn the volume up!
Hardwired bpm 178 SOTB bpm 170
But that said, Death Magnetic still tops Hardwired
amazing reaction as always. where’s the link to the discord patrick?
Thank you for reminding me!!!
@@PatrickMusilekno problem! see you there 🫡
Love this album. I prefer it so much more over their new album... (It had some really amazing guitar harmonies and Inamorata was fantastic in the end, but I would say it's much less memorable and more messy than Hardwired)
72 doesn’t do anything for me. Hardwired at least has some memorable songs, even if they are few and far between, IMO.
1:48:26 sounds like "Am I Evil" without copyright infringement to me.
2:34:48 The heaviest riff in mankind history !!!🔥
I do understand that both Chris' I suppose don't really like Megadeth but from musical standpoint would be great to hear what Patrick has to say about their style and production, and how they changed over time (and I want to know why Chris P and Chris S dont enjoy them) + it kinda is a thing that Metallica and Megadeth are somewhat connected because of their history and rivalry. So, I really, REALLY hope you'll go over their discography, too. Cant wait for Hardwired!
We'll definitely do some Megadeth!
i wish it was something nuanced, but dave just isnt for me.

Chris notices spider and gets up.
Spider: FATHER, PLEASE COME HOME!
2:37:04 The only detuned song on this album is Dream No More (D Standard).
Spit Out The Bone is probably one of the best metal songs that came out in the last 20 years.. it proved to me that Metallica still got it!
(probably)
Those "Wake!" shouts were James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo together! You can also see it in the making-of of the song. James and Robert are standing in the "vocal booth" and kinda barking this one word!
I love that you did a skit for the song Confusion!!! 🙏
Drop it today !!!
Thank you for doing this album, I wanted to ask you if you guys will ever do a Nickelback album, I know how cringe they are, but I think there mix is amazing, they sound super good in my opinion, and will love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you
You are definitely right about that, Nickleback albums (from the songs I know at least) sound amazing!
Patrick's growl at 2:55:41 is epic.
So you know patrick, I usually Mark out every time you make a reference to professional wrestling hahaha. Love you guys videos.
Chris, the start of 'Confusion' probably reminds you of 'Am I Evil' 🤟🏻
Super cool video as always guys! Really enjoys you're discussions. Also, Soilwork is better than In Flames.
Wayyyyy better
I thought the same thing
You know, there's so much new music in the orchestra of S&M, while still not technically a studio release, I do think it can wave the banner of "new Metallica".
And I know that it's not as important as Garage Inc. and it won't be wav files but I really think you guys should listen to some old Metallica mixed with more bass -- it really adds a different dimension.
Yall should totally do the Ronnie Rising Medley and When a Blind Man Cries! Maybe with Garage Inc to just do all covers, but both of those are great!
Well I've enjoy every Metallica album reaction you guys doing, and hey I'm from Malaysia🖐️
Patrick you have it completely backwards Load / Reload and St Anger are the albums that Kirk also plays rhythm - everything else is James 😄
