VMT-750 doesn’t have much potential unless it has TCPC and dynamic work offsets. Bar feeder and sub spindle are completely necessary for a true mill turn unless you go large format. Take a UMC1500 duo, place the lathe spindle on the left hand table, add a tilting head, this solves clearance issues for the spindle to table, it is an open machining area. This will allow for the lathe spindle not to move, thusly you can attach a standard bar feeder. Face a lathe sub spindle where the 5 axis table was and put it on rails so it can do the handoff. you can use a lot of your standard components this way, and tilting both directions clearing the tool changer will be much easier.
Vector jog is nice, however, if I have a problem with a tap, I would sure appreciate having spindle rotation tied in with it - back away the spindle from the part while unscrewing the problem tap from the hole. WFL has this on their Siemens equipped MillTurns. Haas has some more development to do for their concept machine. Having said that, I think this is a cool machine.
Something silly, but when the machinist was programming the APL, the coil cord on his pendant was stretched across the pulse dial on the machine’s control panel. If there were an axis activated, there would be motions within the machining envelope that he would not be aware of. That could be embarrassing if the resolution were on a coarse amount, and the tool were near the part or some other obstruction. Consider placing the hand pendent nest to the right of the control panel instead.
