By just hovering are you really putting the battery to a duration test? I think you need to do an actual flight test to get a true measure of battery life as it will be under the stress of speed, ascend & descend. Also, with the weight of the camera/payload release and a 2lb bait. Would love to see the results. Great videos though. I've watched all of them and loved each one. Keep up the good work.
I think a hover test is a good average flight time test since drones are more efficient when flying at some speed but less with more throttle. If you look at test conditions most drone (like DJI) base their flight times on, they are usually best at around 20mph in no wind flying in a straight horizontal line 👍.
Good test - As usual I'd probably stick with the limitations of the stock battery but worth knowing - Thanks. One question - how waterproof is the transmitter? -will it handle heavy rain?
The battery held up well, as did the drone. What would be interesting is if you could stick a recording thermometer unit inside (there looks to be room). I have one here in my living room I got at a Radio Shack, which keeps track of the highest/lowest temperature in the room (over a period of time). I've heard some talk online that the interior of that drone gets very warm (because it is so sealed up), so it might be interesting to find out. The unit I have is about the size of one of the small digital kitchen timers, so they are small and don't weigh much. Will watch for your fishing video .. and maybe another attempt at "chumming for sharks".
great idea on the thermometer. It gets warm in there but not seemingly hot enough to cause issues. It amazes me how the barometer can even work inside. SwellPro has conveyed to me that they are improving it to have a more accurate alt hold.
Good question. Usually HV batteries are safe to use since they all a small step up from my experiences. I've only had the Parrot DISCO plane not work with them but that was a software issue where it would not let it fly when detected.
careful with those 10c batteries dustin, i use them on my quad, and after a good minute on and off full throttle and pitch, the c rating couldnt keep up and cut all power to the motors. great for poodling around. but would be dubious about using them if your expecting to punch it for anything other than short bursts. also end voltage drop off seems to be more rapid on these than others.
Something to keep in mind...is that flight time is noticeably longer when 10-15mph of breeze is passing over the propellers...just like a helicopter, a multi-rotor drone flies more efficiently in "moderate" forward speeds...which can be hovering-in-place in a breeze, or actually flying thru the air...so anyway, in comparing flight times between batteries, you'd wanna be sure the effective wind speed over the propellers is about the same for each battery's test. See this page for an example of a helicopter...you can see minimum power required for level flight is about 62 knots (62 knots requires only about 67% of the power needed to hover): www.danubewings.com/helicopter-forward-flight/
Hello, The original battery is in 14.8 volts. I have seen on websites that this battery in 8000mah is in 22.2 volts and 14.8 volts. I can not see on your video if you use a battery of 14.8 or 22.2 volts. Can you confirm me ? thank you in advance
Hello Sir I want to buy a 8000mah 11.1 volt battery for my quadcopter. Should I use a battery with higher C rate or lower C rate. And plz tell why that C rate is good. Thanks . Plz reply I am a subscribed user
You should look for a higher C rate, since it allows the quadcopter to draw more current, therefore deliver more power. It depends on what you want to do with it really.
+Surya T S yes I will. Someone impersonating me messed up my last giveaway and tried to steal money from the winner. I need to figure out how to prevent that.
What’s the weight difference on the two batteries!? Interesting test 💯🤙🏽
Really nice review Dustin, I am liking this one a little more every time I see it.
It’d be interesting to see how it goes with the extra weight of the gimbal and camera
I never get bored of your videos
+Get Shrecket Thank you 😉
Hi Dustin , please give the specification the 8000mAh battery , tried the link , could not find it , thank you very much !
Thanks Dustin great review on the Splash drone I've seen all your video's on this drone all very good I like the turtle keep them coming.
+RICK HALBUR Thanks Rick 👍
Dustin awesome review keep up the good work😁👍
+Richard Quinones Thanks Richard 🤙

won't the weight of the battery put a lot of stress on the motors? you might burn them out?
You really like the splash drone, great vid keep up the good work!

Dustin that's another nice Video ! Thanks !
Hi Dustin , where did you buy this swell pro ? is this the latest version ? can this one take the cam and the payload release at the same time ?
thats cool! did not think that lipo would fit. Cant wait to see you try some fish'n with it
Good test - As usual I'd probably stick with the limitations of the stock battery but worth knowing - Thanks.

+didactylos4 diddy4 I don't think the TX is Waterproof at all.
Interesting, look forward to the fishing , thanks

omg. you use higher and higher capacity batteries. :-). great vids. Dustin. thx.
Thank you very much from France.
Great video!
i have a off topic question- i cant upload any videos from my sd card i video from my H501s.....? what am i not doing?
thanks
Is the 14.8V vs. 15.2V doing any damage to the converter or is it rated for voltages higher than 15V? Couldn't find any reliable info...

Can you do a review on the phantom 4 pro

Great explanation Bill 👍
Nice review. I was rooting for a full 30 min. but still to bad.

Will it still float with the additional weight of that bigger battery?
+andrew hodgkinson Yes it will still float on the water nicely.
i dont know if you conditioned(cycled) that batt. if not the performance will increase after about 5 to 10 charge/discharge cycles.
+Steven Moore hey Steven. This lipo had a few cycles through it but was probably not at its peak performance. Good call 👍
Thanks, Very nice series of videos. I have one on order and look forward getting it into the air. Keep up the great vid,s.

JogAlong Thanks a lot
Will regular lipo batteries work in this drone?
Yes
when do you do giveaway s
cool Great Battery life
Check on the legality before fishing with the drone. It is illegal here in Mn.
Thé price
Cool I love it
I bet if it wasn't fighting the wind it would have topped 30 mins.
still DJI Mavic Pro win this test. i really hope to see drone market increase battery life to 1 hour
Did you get this for 109.00 on Facebook like they selling now? 😆 people so silly
can the swellpro charger be used to charge this battery?
Yes
thanks for the reply....
any idea how to fix the Q333 landing gear not working? or I just have too take it apart & check the connections, etc...
nice, looks like a small car battery. haha
+T Dingman lol
How is it supposed to lift a 3 pound fish?? LOL
Extremely over Priced.
