I have the Moment wide (v2), anamorphic and 58mm tele. Retrofitting for 52mm filters using the Moondog adapters and a home made 52mm adapter for the anamorphic. All works very well.
Sold! Just bought this the full set from moment and moza for my Galaxy S10+. I also subscribed. Samsung has this crazy stability built in, combined with stabilizer, I think I'm able to make some amazing vids. We indeed live in great times mate, I think I will go full-in on mobile videography
Great shots. One point about the aspect ratio. I tend to leave the aspect ratio at 16:9 rather than 2.39:1 in the filmic pro app when using the anamorphic lens. The reason is that if you shoot above 60 fps, filmicpro cannot desqueeze in real-time and will only give you a “preview”. Therefore If you set the aspect to 2.39:1 (with the anamorphic, shooting more than 60fps), you will have to dequeeze the footage in post, but it will already be cropped and the final result will be a double cropped - supper wide aspect ratio shot. Hope that’s not too confusing, but give it a try to see for yourself.
Thanks for this tip! I did not know that! But will definitely try! I usually film at 60fps but recently I’ve been toying with 120fps and this will definitely help! Thanks 🙏
Glad you liked the video! Everyday I love Filmic Pro more and more! Moment lenses are pretty good as well! If only thwy had a thinner case! Hope everything is going well!
Great video - thanks for the tips and footage. For future reference, it may be helpful to include which phone you're using in the text below for easy reference.
I really want the Zhiyun smooth 4 for the focus wheel but after watching more and more Moza mini review i like the option of having multiple mounting point 🤷🏾♂️
I love this video EMT as I use the exact same set up but with the anamorphic on the note 9. While the mini mi handles the weight fine with a counterweight, I noticed due to the design that the arm is in shot when using the anamorphic lens with the mini mi (i saw it during your showcase of filmic in this video as well.) This is fine because I usually carry the gimbal in a torch position but it sucks because it makes setting the gimbal down to film yourself impractical at most angles. Would you recommend upgrading to the Snoppa atom or the Freefly cinema Robot to avoid filming the gimbal arm with a wide lens? Thanks so much if you're able to help!
I’d say the Freefly Cinema Robot might work better since it has integration with Filmic and also supports the payload. The Snoppa is a great gimbal but the odd design doesn’t work well with my counterweight.
Thank you for that advice I’m in my first year of UA-cam creating and find using KineMaster starting to be not quite enough So will look into those you have suggested more 👍🏻
I guess it depends on the vibe you're going for, but imo the moondoglabs anamorphic lens is better. It's quite a bit sharper on the sides, and the lens flares are much more subdued
Why go to the trouble and expense of using an anamorphic lens, which can twist and warp the image, when you could use a wide-angle adapter, and crop the top and bottom for the anamorphic aspect ratio? In either situation, you’re getting the full horizontal resolution of the camera, and software is throwing away the top and bottom to give you the wide/short aspect ratio.
I actually like the Snoppa Atom gimbal a lot. It has a 310 gram load spec, and the range of balancing the phone is better, because the roll servo is out of the way. That allows even wide lens system much farther to the right. Unfortunately I had to modify the Moment case to fit well in the jaws of the clamp, but as a result I can get bunch of Moment lenses with variety of filters balanced with no or minimal counterbalance weights.
@@EMTFILMS Unfortunately I don't. I could do something with the stills I took. I don't have a blogging setup. The back of the Moment case is ugly, but very functional as well as lighter :-). I also set the Moment anamorphic for 52mm filter to lighten the load a little more. I would only wish if Snoppa had even rudimentary interface with the Filmic Pro. I am having problems with pressing the record button on the screen. I think I will start wearing my Apple watch on my right wrist and use the Watch app. I will sound out when I can show the mod of the case.
@@ComPH2 I wanted the atom too . Only thing stopping me is the 45 degree tilt . That's awful and has put me off . Annoying because I really wanted it . But not being able to look fully up or down is A no go

Isn’t this thing like crazy light in weight compared to the moment wide lens? because my osmo mobile 3 needs counterweights but I’d imagine the anomorphic is a breeze on a gimbal
you mentioned about rotating the lens.. would it be possible and have you tried rotating the lens and using the device in portrait mode?.. if not, could you give it a go? would this make the shot more square?
For the Anamorphic lens I usually default to Filmic Pro but the Moment app works too. Filmic Pro performs frame analysis for its color profiles rather than an overlay so you get more dynamic range. 🤘🏼
Do you activate the Anamorphic option of moondog with lens moment This makes an extra clipping that can not be seen on the recording screen. This is a real problem because parts that you want to record are cut. How do you configure the anamorphic lens of moment in filmic pro without cuts?
There’s an option to avoid the crop but you’ll end upe with the black bars instead of the cropped clip. You can also try the moment app but their “flat” is not my favorite. Hope this helps! Thanks for sharing your time with me! 🤘🏼
I have iPhone Xs Max, will it be good to use this Moment anamorphic lens? I think my DJi Osmo Mobile 2 will not be supporting it. Because Moment case is thick and it did not fit into my Osmo Mobile 2 gimbal. Please give me some hints, TIA

Hey man how's it going I have some issues with anamorphic lens moment, by the way I'm new to this when I use it on my filmic Pro , I actually see everything is stretched out and I'm using note 9, how do I get it's fixed, there's a knob you mentioned in the video the small hole should I try that do make it thin?
Yes I have! It handles it pretty well since the phone is not grounded by the grip. The only challenge is the the motor shows in the frame when fully vertical but once in 45 degrees (torch) it moves out and works great! 🤘🏼
EMT how's the balance and calibrating? Do you need to use the counter weight? I bought the Mini Mi again recently but was thinking about getting the S. I'm just a beginner/consumer so I'm looking for the easiest solution for travel videos.
Since the phone is not restricted by the motor you can pretty much balance the phone without a counterweight but you could also use one. Depends on the lens and the phone size.
Filters for the lenses will help in different lighting situations. Some remove glare and reflections on some surfaces (polarized) while other act like sunglasses for your camera in order to achieve better settings on bright environments. Hope this helps!
Usually under low light I use the native camera app an enable auto lowlight fps on iPhone. Also Filmic pro at times with the flat profiles but it pretty much depends on the environment. Settings will change but I typically lower the frame-rate so more light comes in. Hope this helps! 🤘🏼
