I mean when you have about 65000 lines of dialogue what else are you gonna do? you are bound to have repeat actors for certain characters. But man its like the entire NCR is made up of Liam O'Brien and the entire legion is made up of Yuri Lowenthal

Worst case of this I ever ran into is in Skyrim. I had Mjoll as a follower and without thinking about it I went to do the Wolf Queen quest in Solitude. Next thing I know I'm in the cave where the necromancers were resurrecting Potema and heard Mjoll's voice echoing throughout the dungeon doing the ritual. Had a Shrek moment and told Mjoll "Mjoll, can you stop trying to raise the dead for 5 minutes?!". Killed the immersion just a little bit.

@@SquidmanMalachar i swear oblivion sounds like there are 6 voice actors in total, 3 male 3 female

I kinda prefer AD over Family guy but not by much.

Fallout: New Vegas.
AKA: "Oops! All Liam O'Brian!"
Seth MacFarlane has an awesome vocal range for characters, he voices so many, but Dee Bradley Baker is an absolute beast, when it comes to VAing. More often than not, he is literally playing a beast, snarling, purring, screeching, he does it all!

It is incredibly torturous to sneak past 50 guards, all played by Yuri Lowenthal.
When your budget is so tight you can only afford 4 voice-actors for your 200 character game, this situation gets pretty inevitable (I'm exaggerating, but you get the gist).
I just learned that there are mods for Fallout that adds more voices for more NPCs. A bunch of fans recorded their own lines.
Except most are paid by the line.... so it's got nothing to do with budget. Sheer, utter, laziness.
@@iami3rian394 You are talking out of your ass. First off, I'm calling BS on the "paid by the line" argument. Professional voice actors, especially those in the union, are generally paid an hourly wage for this sort of work, meaning hiring dozens more would increase costs substantially. That doesn't even take into account the time and money it takes to scout large amount of additional voice actors and juggle their studio time. It's also entirely unfair to claim that the developers only hired a small amount of voice actors due to laziness. These are the same people that are willing to work for years to make some of the largest and most detailed worlds in video games. Do you really think that when it came time to populate their world with voices they decided to only hire a few people because they couldn't be bothered to hire anyone else? That's just dumb and you know it.
@@Evan_Schaefering and yet two of them have lisps, and phone it in EVERY time they're on the mic.
Which one of us is talking out of their ass, here?
@@iami3rian394 So the voice actors are lazy? Ok I'll argue that point as well. You seem to have the idea that "more effort=better" which way over simplifies the situation. You can put all the effort into the world into something only the have outside factors change your product in a negative way. Did it ever occur to you that perhaps they just had bad, or very minimal, direction? Great actors give bad performances all the time under lackluster direction. It's also entirely possible that they simply didn't have enough studio time to do fifty different voices because the developers had a limited budget and tight time constraints, things we know were the case for the development of New Vegas.
I respect how high effort this was. Can only come from another American Dad enjoyer.
Fun fact: Voice actor Charles Martinet voices both Mario and Paarthurnax from Skyrim
ah yes, the 2 most boring characters in gaming.
"You are-a the Dovahkiin, YAHOO!"
I thought Chris Pratt was the voice of Mario. He's so cool.
Everyone knows that since the game came out for the first time
I don't recall there being any Mario in Skyrim
Getting into Critical Role made me realize Liam O’Brien is *everywhere* in New Vegas.
Yep, getting that realization as well. Ever since Skyrim, I can hear Laura Bailey immediately when she speaks in games. Every time I watch the teen Ben Ten shows, all I hear is Ashley Johnson from Gwen.
@@motodog242 I just now realized that she did Serana. No wonder everyone loves that follower. That's funny I never made the connection, I guess Jester really doesn't sound anything like her, though Vex kinda does, but it's all about the Nein. I wonder if Critical Role is low key trending or something, I just got into it myself
I was looking up the Critical Role cast on IMDB, and found that pretty much all of them have loads of video game and animation credits. Though I do feel a little sad when they're credited as something generic like "additional voices". :(

Personally I felt like the voice actors in New Vegas did a good job at making different characters feel different from each other despite being voiced by the same voice actor.
But Oblivion though, yah you could definitely tell when you encountered Redguard_Male_1 or Khajiit_Female
All of the nords on Skyrim sound exactly the same too lol
@@wolfiemcfox7080 Yah I noticed that too and I wonder if they hired more voice actors for the Fallout games or if it just more noticeable that every race has the same couple of actors in the Elder Scrolls games vs Fallout that mixes them around more
In Oblivion, at least, the voice actors weren't given very much direction on how their voices should sound--they were basically just handed a gigantic list of dialogue and told to read it all out, with no indication of what character was actually speaking, and lots of it not even sequential. Hence why you have beggars randomly changing their voices mid-conversation and why so much of Oblivion's voice-acting is kinda flat. I don't know if they did the same with Skyrim but it wouldn't surprise me.
Being Yuri Lowenthal,Laura Bailey,Troy Baker,Matt Mercer, Quinton Flynn. In a nutshell.
It always creeped me out how Victor finds and follows you around, and also runs to help the first time your character's in danger. Then later in dialogue when you're done speaking to him in New Vegas he just turns back into a regular Securitron.
You just unlocked a core memory in me.
Yea, that was eerie af!
Never trusted him in any of my consecutive playthroughs.
That one default black voice[Boxcars] even spilled over into 4.
Cough cough Stephen Russel cough cough
My friends have asked me before how I'm so good and quick at realising certain VAs and it's weird to say sometimes "oh I can tell Laura Bailey and Yuri Lowenthal just by their grunts and Moaning sounds"
Well, now we *all* know what you do in your spare time.
Umm okay
I started playing New Vegas again recently and it’s quite the experience hearing Yosuke’s voice around ever corner
I love how honest he is for just that one moment
If anyone else feels bored with the 5 voice actors in New Vegas, i suggest using the Brave New World mod that gives half of the FNV cast a new voice and a new look (That’s more fitting or lore accurate). I can't take Yuri Lowenthal seriously in ANYTHING now. Whenever he shows up I just start fucking laughing because I can't get the images of Solo Wing Pixy and 40% of the New Vegas cast out of my head.
Same deal in Titanfall 2, he voices an insane number of NPCs
Wait till you watch Ben 10. Jesus he voices the main character and you will hate it by the second season.
I always see this in my recommended and always watch it.
omfg the moment I saw Roger dressed up as the teacher from Whiplash I was laughing my ass off. Good movie btw, J.K. Simmons fucking kills it in that movie.

But that’s what makes it charming! Everytime you hear that same voice actor/actress, you’re in for a fun time.
I love how he doesn't deny the acting coach was him, but didn't confirm it either.
The man is so talented he can open doors through reality itself
This is the perfect mash up to convey this point, I tip my hat too you!
That description gets a thumbs up!
Oh hi again Liam O Brian.
This is the crossover I needed
When I recognize a VA, or recognize someone I've had actual chats with / played games with I love it.
Like how ABorderPrince shows up in other Warhammer 40K UA-cam videos, or ZorantheBear shows up in so much other content now because people like his voice and his comedy - then I actually was playing Chivalry II Wednesday night this week and he just happens to get tossed into the same server as me and chats with everyone while playing. Was awesome. It's cool seeing VAs you know, or that you support. Funny when in Fallout though generic male character has the same three VAs. Same for the women honestly.
I had that same feeling when i went to save Nick Valentine in FO4 and Belethor tried to sell me his sister.
Most of the voices are Seth in his shows anyways he’s literally Roger and Stan

Hey, there's the high roller!
I had this problem the other day playing Honest Hearts dlc. The voice actor for Joshua Graham is the same as one the of the 5/6 main voice actors of Skyrim (the one who does most of the dark elves I think). Every time I heard Joshua talk I couldn't help thinking of the dark elves.

That was one of the best part of replaying New Vegas, honestly. I got really into anime since playing it the first time and I can recognize a lot of voice actors from only a few words. Then when I replayed New Vegas I kept hearing Sasuke's voice over and over again. Turns out Yuri Lowenthal voices like half the characters
