I used to scoff at people who would sit on UA-cam and watch videos of other people play through video games. I now understand and I am now eating my hat. This configurator is super cool.
I love the comparison between the virtual 3D-Model and the finished Drum Set in the end. I recently ordered my first SQ2-Set in a Rosewood Finish. Can't wait to have it finally here☺️
Danny's drum's are old melted down cymbals. Also, there are only two of his kit in the world lol. Not to mention the electronics; that would give me a headache.
In my opinion, Soner makes the greatest drums in the world. Nothing sounds like a solar. However, there should’ve been a disclaimer in this video that said,” and for the same price as a brand, new truck or BMW you too can have this kit as well”
Those listed prices are ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!! I bought a nice 7 piece Pacific Maple drumset for the price of that Sonor 8 inch tom years ago, and bought an entire top of the line Mapex Saturn 7 piece Maple set years ago for the price of the small Sonor floor tom. Or for the price of the Sonor floor tom you can buy AN ENTIRE Meinl Byzance Mike Johnston Cymbal Set, or Meinl Byzance Studio Cymbal Set......an entire Top Of the Line cymbal set up for the same price as one Sonor drum. That is CRAZY!!! But I guess the insane price is irrelevant if you're a wonderfully fortunate (and in Gavin's case supremely talented and deserving) endorsee who gets it for next to nothing. By the way, GAVIN PLEASE DON"T BEAT UP YOUR SACRED HANDS WITH MALLETS, YOUR HANDS ARE CERTIFIED NATIONAL TREASURES!! (as is your unparalleled drumming mind!)
Totally. A Japan made Starclassic would be two times more affordable, maybe more than that. Sounds just as fine, looks terrific, too. I can't get my head over these prices. Everything just to look 'special'. Guys like Gavin are special because of the talent. Guys like me won't be near as special even if have gotten 100 of these 'special kits' ))
You, but specially Dmitry are PROFOUNDLY wrong. Your factory-robot built Starclassic along with anything that bears the brand Mapex on it can not even begin to match an SQ2. Sonor quality squared carries this name for a reason. Decades of experience in hand-crafting acoustic drums has flown into this name and each SQ2 is a one-of-a-kind kit that gets manufactured over months by mid-age german masterbuilders that have done this and only this for all of their lifes. Under the right studio (or live) conditions and with proper microfones, you notice that difference in no time. I have first played Tama, then upgraded to DW and Pearl but when you really wanna stop compromising, you will eventually be led to an SQ2. The price is high, but who ever started this shit that everything has to be easily affordable? What idiotic mindset is this to have? I had to put away money for several years and did so gladly. The day I drove to Bad Berleburg Germany and had an employee show me how my SQ2 was built, I realized that all this money really goes into the material, the craftsmanship and the amounts of work and time it took to get it done. All it takes is one bass drum kick to proof you guys wrong...
Bend some wood into a circle, wrap it in WMP and die happy. Price? 1,000 bucks.. Drums were never this complicated. Who's gunna lug a 500 lb kit around? All that said, I believe Sonor drums are in a class all by themself. Cheers!
(Gavin Harrison) How do you mount the microphones with the S-Hoops on? I haven’t been able to find any system that allows me to mount a microphone with the S-Hoops installed.
Sonor, I would invest in a kit if you would come out with some more mainstream colors. I’m not a fan of exotic woods, would much rather see pearl / strata / sparkle finishes. I think you’d sell a lot more drums.
Man, you really have to be cautious with this program. You play around designing a kit for fun , click the wrong button and there you go, a SQ2 delivered to your studio in no time...
As much as I get the joke in this comment, it actually have some sort of fail safe because you have to make the decision consciously, you can’t accidentally click it.
I mean, it looks fine, no question here. But in fact it's nothing more than your regular birch kit, it's just now 10 thousands .. For the looks alone , in fact.
Hey Gavin love your playing. Your time signatures are sick. Do I spy S Hoops ? Wish you had of played them, wondering how you like the Birch shells? This Birch Infinite kit is the third set of Sonor that I have owned and I have to say they suck.Bent tension rods on the kick drum ( my drum store did get me replacements ONLY took a Year that's right 12 MONTHS.. Canada is not that much further than the U.K from Germany wish I was endorsed. ) Tried three different heads on both resonant and batter and could not get a decent tone. The first two sets were Maple shells and made in China and sounded so much better. I would tell the average Joe that their hardware is amazing but save your money and buy Made in China.
Bent tension rods probably happened during shipping. Ze germans wouldn't have let something out of the factory like that. Sucks that it took a year to get new ones though, that's insane. Like, go to the post office and send them - done in a week or so.
@@TC-lk2ev Maybe any thing is possible but if the this had happened during shipping the bass drum hoops would have been damaged they were bent that bad and it was 6 rods on a 22 inch kick.. so much for Ze precision.. maybe I'm out to lunch. Thanks for the lament though.
He is awesome, what a fantastic drummer. However that being said these drum companies think the public is stupid, people it doesn't matter what kind of wood is sandwiched between the plies, the only wood that matters is the one that is exposed when you look inside the drum, think about it sound cannot transfer through the glue that is used to bond these plies so it doesn't matter if you have maple it maple and walnut and birch sandwiched between the maple, lol... the tone comes from the heads and the depth that's it everything else is marketing , i mean come on cross laminated , vertical, horizontal lol lol, wow.
Gavin Harrison teaching me how to build a personalised drumkit is what I needed the most today.
Gavin is already a god, can you imagine him after all of that quarantine time practice?
Haha! He's going to unleashe the beast when he returns on stage :D
He'll probably ascend and jam during the apocalipsis with Traine
good point hehehe
Oh man your comment just made my day. I really can't image how much better he's gotten after quarantine :D
Check out the new Porcupine Tree concert film for the results!!
The mallet whack in the intro makes me laugh.
Yeah, watch your hands Gav, you need them for Lockdown practise 🥁 😉
I used to scoff at people who would sit on UA-cam and watch videos of other people play through video games. I now understand and I am now eating my hat. This configurator is super cool.
it's more the commentary and the perspective of the person playing the game. gavin is awesome, so it's a good video
I love the comparison between the virtual 3D-Model and the finished Drum Set in the end. I recently ordered my first SQ2-Set in a Rosewood Finish. Can't wait to have it finally here☺️
One of the tightest drummers I’ve heard, just a machine, amazing player...
Love this! Sonor, could you do a video with Danny Carey or Tomas Haake?
Danny's drum's are old melted down cymbals. Also, there are only two of his kit in the world lol. Not to mention the electronics; that would give me a headache.
Alex Filipowicz does he still use that kit for touring though? I think he does use an SQ2 kit now.
@@FlipontheFly You can write the Google's support to unban you.
Danny Carey left Sonor. He is currently playing VK drums
@@M4RCM0NT31R0 on the current tour he is playing sonor and vk drums. His 8;10;14;16 toms the gong drum and the kicks are sonor... 🤷♂️
Oh I can spend a lot of time playing with this.
That is a very beautiful drum set👌😊🥁
You're the best Gavin! 🙌
Yes he is! 😃
Excellent! Thanks for helping me build my new kit Gavin!!
This software lacks a "Collect Donations Now" button next to the price output.😄
Curious, do inside wraps/finishes affect or alter the sound of the drums in any way?
Hey Gavin, she’s a beauty! How about a little Sound of Muzak on a Birch kit? Plz and Thx
This is an absolutely STUNNING drum set!!!
Very cool. Reminds me of the Bentley configurator! Nice looking kit.
go to more detail: ... here you see the price 10.000$... i bet most where thinking, for what the hell did i start designing my set in 3D? lol :D :D
In my opinion, Soner makes the greatest drums in the world. Nothing sounds like a solar. However, there should’ve been a disclaimer in this video that said,” and for the same price as a brand, new truck or BMW you too can have this kit as well”
What is that mallet that you are holding?
Thanks Gavin!
Looks absolutely fantastic... Well, a little pricey for my budget... but, well, dreams remain free of charge, do they ?
Stay healthy Gavin and keep on grooving 👍✌️👍✌️
whats that black thing inside the kick drum?? I mean that black sort of rod. Cheers
The microphone.

Looks a bit more yellow in person. More orange in on config. Still very nice.

Yes I did

I wanna hear it Gav!!
what's that "wires" inside BD ?
Wondering too...
It’s an internal microphone
Why Sonor don't offer an option like the die cast hoops for all the drums is a mistery. WHY?
Because due cast costs a lot more and they tend to choke the drum.
@@rushxanthemtcg5607 ok but there are a lot of drummer out there that use them. It's a choise...
Over 2 grand for a bass drum?
Now we know that he plays on a $1o,ooo kit.

gavin on a birch kit. i want to hear that.

I just want buy SONOR and ZILDJIAN.
World be interesting which kind of Set he had chosen when he had to pay for it
The exact same set ! The high quality does come at a price.
Too bad it doesn't say choose a price
