Many of you are asking about where to find the free fly. It wasn't available when I made the video, but the link is now up here: robertsspaceindustries.com/star-citizen/play-now
Sorry guys, this is really strange. Whenever I copy paste a link, it seems to copy paste it with strange issues. www.twitch.tv/morphologis that's my twitch channel!
i love how the game looks and how detailed their plans are, and while i cna imagine it will still take many more years to even get a first "launch" of sorts, the fact that its WIP and yet let ppl play and enjoy what has already been done gives good hope that it might actually succeed in this ginormous task that SC is in itself ^^
@@redblackcoalition8778 Rofl, with all the bullshit in this video, CIG should be paying the Marketing Exec's salary to Morph. He's the one taking all the risk, coming out saying things like that.
Great video! One more tip for newbies: the SC community is in general very friendly. If you need to ask for help, press Enter to open the global chat and type in what you want to say, then press Enter again to send it. If you're curious about any ship, you will usually find someone willing to give you a tour or even let you fly it. The F12 key will also open and close the chat panel if it's getting distracting.
Nice video Morph, well played! I've shared it with a group of buddies who have, thus far, been SC naysayers (in fairness, it's been in development longer than my almost 9 year-old daughter has been alive!), but hopefully your gloriously edited video will change their minds, and get in board for the free-fly.

Yeah, but it's not gonna change in the next week or so. I'm sure they're being very careful not to break anything with updates until the event is over...

I think it worth mentioning that during Free Fly server performance is usually worse than normal due to a huge amount of new people trying the Star Citizen. But don't feel discouraged, it's still very much true Alpha.
Cool video, and helpful. Just remember that for new joiners, you should always stipulate that anytime someone says "later this year you'll be able to do XYZ..." There is a 90% chance that whatever this is you're referring to is probably not going to be true, as Star Citizen misses about 90% of their goals and changes their roadmap constantly. So don't ever believe anything you hear when someone says "later this year in star citizen".... It's only just a dream, but now and then occasionally dreams do come true ;)
Nice vid and thanks for the community service. I will say that this video reminded me how lucky earlier bakers were to be able to spawn at PO. Missing the aww of walking out to a pad in space with the gas giant in the background and other players going about. (I guess it saves a noob from getting pad rammed, but being a backer since 2015 I have only seen 2 pad rams ever)
Beautiful intro as always. I have never once looked up to see that skylight view of the space station.. Star Citizen is often a "ship-show", but its a beautiful ship-show. F11 is the shortcut to the comms panel.
So I decided to back SC several days ago, the reason being solely this channel's content (that one prison break short film too, i guess), and so far I'm loving it! I can't stop rambling to anyone who's willing to listen about it :P However there is too much negative hype about this game unfortunately, even I was quite wary and only pledged because of the 2 week refund option. Nice vid, short and to the point with clear explanation. 1 small point - watch out for the acronyms, you used a few. Very easy to forgot a newb won’t understand QT for example (even if you did just mention quantum travel beforehand).
as always, top quality video!!! I've been playing SC for over 2 years now but I still keep watching your tutorial videos simply because they're sooo well made! keep it up, Morphologis! :D Recommendation for new players with a Keyboard other than QWERTY (EN): the getting up key is the one to the right of the "T". E.g. QWERTZ (DE) = "Z"
Thanks for this great video. It's finally possible to find a tutorial that I can share with friends whom I am trying to get into the verse. The only thing that might of been good to add is a quick mention of how to change a ships MFDs (by holding F and clicking on the word Menu on any display panel) in case your ship doesn't display the Comms menu by default. It can be rather easy to not realize that it's an actual button the first few times you get into a ship. Other then that a very informative and well done guide.
if a friend of you buy the game, be sure to tell him to put your referral code durign his registration, it will both give you a free ship but you can do it only one time so if you have several friends who wanna buy the game, it would be very nice to enter my referral for the 2nd or the third : STAR-L95T-TM6B Have a great day!
I'm so glad I found this video. Most of the things I already found out via trial and error (which was annoying at first) but the fact that I can limit the ships max speed via the scrollwheel was one of the things I didn't know. I was wondering why my ship was so painfully slow and now I know that my max speed was in the lowest setting possible xD I would love to buy star citizen after that event but my performance is really bad and I will propably wait until I get a better processor. Or until the game is better optimized. Depends on what happens first 😅
At 10:20 Worth noting that in most cases for planets "High enough to quantum" is above 10,000 meters, for moons it varies based on the density of atmo , but generally at a lesser altitude than a planet.
Good Video ^^ but with all your referrals, would have been a nice touch to link to the randomizer instead of using your code which y dont get anything anymore... i mean y are 4 time over the biggest reward xD
ha, whilst you were cautioning pilots of their speed whilst approaching Port Olisar, a quick mention of the velocity vector would have no doubt saved many a beginner from smashing into the station. 😉🙂
I tried SC on a previous free weekend and had no luck in trying to get out of the starting area. Videos like this make me think it'd be worth trying SC again since I wouldn't be confined to a "house arrest". :P
The Bengal is just under 1km at 990m.... Unless it has grown which wouldn't be a surprise :P Also, you can fly all flyable military ships over the time of the free fly, but you might have to go to the convention centre first and rent the ship before you can fly it. This might mean you have to wait until that manufacturers ships are on display. Unless this has also changed.
Well this video got me into buying SC. As I really enjoy Elite Dangerous I have more than 300h in that game. So I thought I will give this game a chance to experience stuff that Elite does not offer even with Odyssey as it is a damn mess. After 4 hours or so I thought I will share my first adventure which was picking up and delivering 2 packages. So I picked up the mission to take two packages from Calisto and deliver it on the same planet but in different outposts. Easy I thought. So I got to my ship. Started almost flew into the wall but luckly game crash saved me. I log in back in, get to my ship, fly to Calisto land, pick up my package and...got killed by a strong wind. So I respawn, fly to Calisto, land, wait for the wind to calm, pick 1st package, take it to the ship, go for second package, once goin back to my ship. It is gone...but ok I look for a terminal to call it. There is of course no such terminal on this outpost. So I kill myself (in game and soon irl) ,respawn, wait for my ship, fly to Calisto, wait for the wind to calm, realize that I lost the cargo, abandon the mission, take the same mission, pick up both packages, deliver the first one, fly to second drop point, land, take the package but from the happiness that I will finally complet this mission I've forgot that wind can kill you and I died...but it is fine I am yet to loose my shit I am waitng for the respawn, game crashed. 4h passed, no money earned. Apart from that it is fun
Two very critical points you missed: 1) Issue a warning to never try walking into anything that hasnt fully spawned yet in order to avoid the other free flight. I imagine that especially during the events high server load and on a new players not optimized PC and settings this will happen a lot. 2) Also explain how to store a ship and ask for anybody to consider their ships safety and the fellow players and always do so after arriving. At least in the spaceports and on the big orbit stations. PS: 3) while you are at it: Pad services. Probably for the best to be included in this lesson 1 right away
Fun fact morph the javelin isnt the biggest ship you can own. The bengal is. While you can not BUY it CR has already said there are some around the universe to find in need of massive repair. Good luck finding one :)
The devs should not in any way make that new inventory system if they don’t fix all the bugs where I randomly die or get physics-ed, or the game crashes. OR MY SHIP DESPAWNING MID-QUANTUM JUMP. But great vid!
I didn’t need this guide, but I watched it anyway, for it was good. It’s still far too early for me to try roping in my pre-order hating friends, but I live in hope ;)
Morphologis, i believe that the largest player ownable ship would be the bengal carrier. Although non purchasable, one could find these as a (possibly limited) derelict frame that one needs to refurbish as the javelin is advertised. Although i take it with a grain of salt as, with everything, it is still subject to change. Reference for this is: starcitizen.fandom.com/wiki/Bengal
Get out of bed, or a chair, you can tap Y. Get out of the pilot seat you need to press Y for around 1/2 second or so (so not a tap). I found some new players tapping Y to exit the pilot seat and getting frustrated.
I love watching your videos they are, not only informative, but very entertaining. This video is exactly what new people would be watching and learning from. :D Puts my videos to shame. Actually, all your videos put mine to shame. ;)
I'm not convinced CI is going to be ready for this event. PTU is an absolute shitshow right now. By all means, new players are more than welcome and Morph has some great points here. Just adjust your expectations accordingly. Your game will likely not run as well as this footage.
The last event was fun. I made a lot of money, but I did crash my ship due to stuff not rendering or lagging. On my computer the experience isn't great. Will give it a try tho.
Hi Morphologis! Would you consider making of “an architect review of Javelin Destroyer” or tour on Javelin’s deck with your thoughts, during the Invictus event? It would be fantastic! (Especially for those, like me, who got a crash during loading to Stanton System after latest patch :-/ )
- I thought the Bengal was 980m? Not over 1km as you stated? - I hope they'll implement a system that allows people to keep the exclusive T-shirts bought at these events even when the full game comes out. A sort of honor badge for those that participated at the time - Still weird that they changed that tab to Friends when it still includes other contacts, notable the spaceport ATCs. Am I friends with the ATCs?
@@_ezra6217 " _Over_ a kilometer" isn't rounding up, that's exaggeration. Wouldn't have commented on it if it was simply rounded. But maybe the length has changed? Cant confirm in sources I've been able to find.
Disclaimer: If you are a new player without a top tier computer, do not expect your game to play this smoothly. Morphologis has a really nice computer. If you have a standard hard drive, you will have a bad time. If you have a 5+ year old processor, you're going to have a bad time. Video cards aren't as important as the CPU. 16BG of RAM is not enough, but will get you by. 32GB of RAM is preferred as the game can use more than 20GB of RAM in some situations. That being said, the game will still be playable if you don't meet these hardware recommendations, but it will stutter, it will have low FPS, and it may even have issues loading textures if you have a standard hard drive.
I'll recommend this to my friends. They are on the fence about the game but with no commitment free fly they have no excuses 😉

The last event was fun. I made a lot of money, but I did crash my ship due to stuff not rendering or lagging.
On my computer the experience isn't great. Will give it a try tho.
I can't believe that SC is actualy starting to look like an actual game... Still way to far to go but hek! This is amazing!!!
Looks can be deceiving (in this case, they most certainly are).
Hi Morphologis! Would you consider making of “an architect review of Javelin Destroyer” or tour on Javelin’s deck with your thoughts, during the Invictus event? It would be fantastic! (Especially for those, like me, who got a crash during loading to Stanton System after latest patch :-/ )
morph, you make this game look way too good lol.
@@D.Enniss that’s my point there’s no bugs for him lol
@@paulroberts2154 because he doesn't have a sloppy pc
- I thought the Bengal was 980m? Not over 1km as you stated?
- I hope they'll implement a system that allows people to keep the exclusive T-shirts bought at these events even when the full game comes out. A sort of honor badge for those that participated at the time
- Still weird that they changed that tab to Friends when it still includes other contacts, notable the spaceport ATCs. Am I friends with the ATCs?
rounded up
@@_ezra6217 " _Over_ a kilometer" isn't rounding up, that's exaggeration.
Wouldn't have commented on it if it was simply rounded.
But maybe the length has changed? Cant confirm in sources I've been able to find.
@@OrionKaelinClips get over it
@@_ezra6217 Can't yet. Fleet week hasn't started.
good guide for newbies....well done
Recommended this to my friends.
Holy shit, I've been playing for awhile the fact that you can qt out of atmo is a fucking lifesaver
alright Morph, It's time to block out an afternoon to do the Architect Reviews of the C2.
