If only that message could be a reality in the US. They've made it so expensive to own/care for animals, renters either have to give up their pets, or pay "extra," beyond the security deposit to keep you pet. This is a wonderful, yet heartwrentching story - the humans live as bad as the animals in need. But poverty doesn't mean you have to stop caring about your community.
The Original Owner had her vhained up in the sun. Whats kind? That je gave her up,? I feel nothing for Pet Parents that shape their Fesrs and lack of human touch. Mary, with practically nothing to her name took on this dog (no name) and bless her for taking him. I do hope for a long life ahead!
This woman is an angel. They don't have much at all and are talking animals in to there humble home. She is full of love amazing. And the animal is safe and will love a happy life. Thank you for sharing
I think the dog is very grateful for Mary as well, because it seems like she doesn't even wanna be apart from Mary at all! Every step Mary takes, Laila looks at her as if she's afraid to be left alone again. I'm so happy for them both.
Sidewalk Specials!! 💛💛💛 Such compassionate people for dogs and people. Much respect for how they handle the situarions they encounter. If you can... they really need all the help they can get.
Right from the start Mary’s beautiful smile told me that Laila was going to be so loved and cherished. Big respect for Rachael and everyone working with the Sidewalk Specials team. ❤
Mary reminded me of a nurse many years ago. Our first child (I've just got off a video call with him, his wife and their first child, also a son ❤❤❤) about 13-14 months old, fell over and cracked his forehead open on the edge of some furniture. The ER was 20 miles away and he was crying all the way. By the time we got there he had a huge lump on his head, which had a cut, but I'd been holding a cold wet flannel to it all the way as Hubby drove. The receptionist got us in quickly (babies always have priority if nothing more serious is going on) and this senior nurse, a West Indian lady who was much like Mary in character (you can see they have nothing but love in their hearts) came into the room with a huge smile on her face. Having lived in a West Indian area of London, I relaxed immediately, because I'd met other ladies like her. They'd always been kind to me when I was alone there and so I'm always predisposed to like them! My son stopped crying, went to her, sat on her lap... He fell in love with her immediately! (As did we!) She gave him some butterfly stitches before getting a doc to make sure he wasn't concussed or anything bad - she said she thought he was fine but you don't take chances with babies - and we were soon discharged. We were apologising for wasting their time, they were saying come back immediately if he does even the exact same thing, that parents shouldn't apologise for worrying about their kids, etc. She taught me about being unapologetic when it came to my baby's health, something I am not genetically disposed to be (no, not Canadian. British. Where do you think Canadians get their need to say sorry from? 😂) It was a useful lesson as I had 3 more kids in the next 4 years! I turned into Mama Bear when it came to protecting my kids, even when they were teens. They're all either side of 30 now and I haven't changed one bit! I'm sure that given the training, Mary would be as excellent a nurse as that lady was. She just oozes love and goodness. Much as I obviously want all good blessings for everyone at the charity, I also want the same for Mary and her family and neighbours. If only I were rich... Hmm, I know of an ultra rich S African who could change everything in that township without noticing the minor dent in his bank accounts. Pity he's such a racist creep 🤬
@@y_fam_goeglyd Cannot agree with you more. We are not proud of the person he turned out to be. Regarding Mary, she may possibly have been a nurse or teacher, but there is such a shortage of work in South Africa that millions of qualified people are unemployed. It is heartbreaking to see our once flourishing and well managed country deteriorate through the years thanks to our current government.
I love Sidewalk Specials' compassionate approach to pets and people, finding solutions that work for all that educate while offering dignity and lasting change. ❤
This is a great message about getting vets to donate their time to vaccinate & treat pets in poorer communities. It's a miracle to get help from vets where I live. I have never seen a weekend clinic by vets anywhere in this community.
Poor little sweet girl she was only trying to protect her self she looked scared more than anything her tail was tucked tightly that is showing she was very nervous poor girl I hope she finds love and a happy home ❤️❤️
Beautiful people, they have so little, but give love, attention, care and making sure their pets are healthy. They take better care of and love their pets more than most. Thank you. ❤
So-called “aggressive” animals are almost always just terrified. Dogs, cats, horses…they are traumatized, and simply defending themselves from a perceived threat, after enduring countless real threats.
Well said. That's also the case with many people (not bullies). Same defence mechanisms - suspicion, aggression, distrust, disbelief in good intentions, etc. Of course, humans, having larger brains, and having experience more elaborate deceptions, take more time to come around.
Thank you to this wonderful lady for taking her in and giving her a better life. My highest respect to you. May God bless you immensely for your good deeds and mercy toward animals ❤️🙏🏻🇺🇲
that lady has such an amazing aura. it’s like she radiates sunshine and kindness. I just know she touches the lives of everyone she comes in contact with.
That is just such a special video and Mary is just such a special lady. This beautiful dog knew that he loved Mary immediately. It was like LOVE at first sight. I love this work that helps these pet owners very much. It is genius and you have all this untapped love just waiting to be lavished on animals with just a little help. Well done everyone!
This is my favourite story! The love that they have for each other is so visible. I will watch this video over and over and every time I will smile I just know it ❤
I never comment on these videos but this one had me in tears!! I love how not only the animals but the people are being helped through this initiative!! So beautiful!!
God bless Mary for taking in this beautiful soul of Laila, and God bless Rachael and the Sidewalk Squad for rescuing these pets. It seems that education is the key here. Laila 's original owner wasn't inherently bad, and ther ARE bad people abusing animals out there, but rather was uneducated as to how to separate dogs and train them. Laila was frightened, not aggressive.
This truly breaks my heart. The worst being on this earth is people. We have the brain to think, to be kind, to help others but instead we torture and have no respect for other beings on this earth. For those who do choose to be kind and help others, thank you.
Thank you for the work you do and rescuing her and found her the perfect home to Love her and give her a beautiful life Thank you Mary for taking this sweet dog in and giving her Love..
Gorgeous dog❤ I cannot believe that purebreds are everywhere, and getting treated the way they do😢 Every animal deserves better. Wild and Domesticated ❤
Hi I was wandering I know we can donate to sidewalk specials but can we donate to that beautiful mama that adopted Layla. She was truly an angel. Am I love the way she loves her babies.
If an animal reacts like this pupper did when he met his person. Dogs know the secrets we hold in our hearts, but they don't tell anyone else. I'd love to hear what animals are saying. The frequency that they communicate with is a gift that I wish I had. It would be amazing to hear what my dog and cats say to eachother. Peace be with you ✝️ 🙏
Its not hard to know what animals are saying if you just listen to them, observe them. They have no form of language beyond what is obvious. We can literally understand all animals if you understand their behavior. My dog almost speaks to us because we listen. Its amazing to just KNOW what shes saying. Ive had less understandable communication from nonverbal human children than most dogs and other animals too.
The happiest dogs don’t live in luxury. They live in love. If that includes luxury, that can be nice. But a dog knows it doesn’t need it to be happy. Far more important is to have love.
The other message is that being good pet parents isn't about money. With a little help, people with very little can do amazing things.
Yes so sweet...they just want you
If only that message could be a reality in the US. Confined, scared and lonely - not aggressive, so happy for her now 🙏🏻❤️🩹🐾🏡
Such dark times in this world, here with Mary is a little bright spot with her new best friend. With "the big feet" 😂😊
Respect to the first owner for giving her up because of wanting her to have a better life, and grateful for the people who gave one to her
The Original Owner had her vhained up in the sun. Whats kind? That je gave her up,?
I feel nothing for Pet Parents that shape
their Fesrs and lack of human touch.
Mary, with practically nothing to her name took on this dog (no name) and bless her for taking him. I do hope for a long life ahead!
Those people living like that but how kind and giving they are. That's what really matters in this world. I'm humbled by them. ❤
Yeah. They clearly have so little, but look at how joyous and loving they all are…you could just feel their kindness coming through the screen. 🥰❤️
It’s always like that those with little give so much
Same
Despite so much poverty..... so much love 🥰👍
@@Nicnic728 what a lovely way to put it.
She is a very pretty dog all she needed was alot of love
If you don't care for your pet/s, you don't deserve them!
Treat them as well as you would treat yourself & your own family.
Mary got that baby looking right in no time! Her shiny coat and sweet eyes 🥰 I love this ❤
Didn’t she though ? That dog didn’t make a sound after she got with Mary because she was comfortable and felt loved.
Dogs really don't need much. Just love and care.
Exactly.
That’s it they do not judge care about anything but that Ms Mary and her family love her.
Sidewalk Specials is a wonderful charity. Their tireless work on behalf of the dogs of De Doorns township is shown on their own UA-cam channel! ❤
This woman is an angel. They don't have much at all and are talking animals in to there humble home. She is full of love amazing. And the animal is safe and will love a happy life. Thank you for sharing

Laila and Mary are perfect for each other. Love and patience for each other, with smiles and walks and hugs.
It is obvious they belong together. What a transformation.❤
Oh she looks so much better with her new people! Her eyes, her skin, her fur! She looks so content being petted by Mary.
Her transformation is awesome!!! So glad her new family loves her to bits! Blessings!
Sidewalk Specials!! 💛💛💛

I love the fact that she keeps her hands on Layla constantly confronting her. And the way Layla eyes rollback when Mary hugs her is so cute.
Thank you for helping these people with their animals

Wow he looks so healthy and happy ❤❤❤❤ and that family looks so loving and happy to have him. Sweet

They have so little but yet share so much love and compassion to these dogs! This is a humbling video for sure! 😊😊❤❤❤
I am so humbled by these 2 women. This is what rescue should be in this region. Just blown away. Thank you, merci for what you do ❤❤❤
Thank you.
Truly Amazing! Poor people living in makeshift homes adopting neglected animals and giving them a care and lots of love!! 😊👏👍❤
Thank you for what you do! Living in such squalor, these people deserve happiness as much as anyone else. Your initiative is awesome!
Thank you for your labor of love and compassion..
A wonderful story full of love. 💙💙💙
Just a lovely story. "Match made in heaven"... and by your compassion and understanding.
Los hermanos perros no necesitan palacios para ser feliz, basta con el CARIÑO y sus elementales cuidados.
She’s so cute❤
That is the SWEETEST story. Laila KNOWS she is safe and loved. Velcro dog to the MAX and I am here for it!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you for helping !!! How sad such terrible living conditions. Hope the other dogs were helped too?
Absolute best humans!
What can I say, U folks ROCK. Doing what U do is simply fantastic. Bless ya.
You can see at the end how happy Laila is.
What a great program and great people
Awe so sweet🥰. The dog just needed some love n looked so much healthier with this kind woman.
Dogs do nothing but enhance life, never detract from it. ❤
So much love. I’m glad they found each other 💜
Thankyou for the dodo
This is such a beautiful thing.
Beautiful ❤
I'm glad she is happy now❤❤❤
Everyone deserves a dog to love, they give back 100 fold. I'm glad she has an opportunity to care for a dog.

To basically have nothing materially but a genuine love and care for an animal who no doubt brings her and her family happiness too.
I ❤Layla and Mom, she’s feeling safe now, Layla have real Family ❤🐾🥰🥰🥰
