I watched the videos and now I want another machine. I never knew until now how this was done. From when I was a kid, I thought they squished the leather edge. Now I know better. Thank you very much again. You are a master craftsman. The way you teach as well is the best. I heard the bell going quiet, and then you brought the sharpener in fast and back. Then brought the sharpener back in to let us know the sound out of round and going to the quiet and round cutting edge again. Thank you very much for all the detail.

Hello, you make nice videos. I have a question: the leather is torn and sometimes the leather slips between the rolling stone and the knife. I have already sharpened the knife. What is the reason behind these results? And how do you know when the rolling stone needs to be changed?

If you place it very close to the feed roller surface try to rotate it by hand (by moving the hand wheel of the machine)There should be no gaps of light between both. These gaps could cause to slip of leather on some areas because the pressure exerted by the presser foot is not even.

@@koulaimvrou8571 It is very difficult the presser foot lower edge wears out. Try to adjust it to a paralell position in relation to the stone barrel. If you have ever used a Chinese knife on a bell knife skiver, were you able to notice a tremendous difference between that and a Japanese or German knife, or was it just a matter of the Chinese knife not holding a sharp edge for very long and requiring more frequent sharpening? Soon I will install a Nippy 301A knife on my Chinese 801 machine. I'm just wondering if I should expect a big performance boost. The OEM knife on my machine is a Taking, most likely the Chinese Taking, not the Taiwanese Taking.

I think, it is a good idea to give maintenance to our machines once in a while. As these machines are made out of iron, they need oil and grease on the bearings and other parts.

Trato de hacerme una idea de que pueda estar pasando. A lo mejor es la alineación del pié prensador. Supongo que es en curvas cerradas y esquinas internas.

I do not know if your machine has the clutch mechanism, if so, it would be necessary to make some adjustments to make it work. Tengo una duda, el rodillo que va justo debajo de la cuchilla de mi máquina está como gastado a un cm más o menos de la orilla y cuando rebajo esa parte me queda más marcada, con ésta situación de pandemia sumado a que vivo en una ciudad alejada de la capital no veo posible conseguir el repuesto pronto, será posible que se pueda dar vuelta el rodillo para que la parte gastada quede hacia atrás? Espero se entienda mi pregunta, gracias nuevamente
Ambos extremos tienen diferente entrada si quisiéramos dar vuelta el rodillo. Si se aflojara la parte metálica que va en el interior se podría invertir la posición. Desconozco que tan ajustado esté. Se corre el riesgo que se rompa el rodillo. Una solución sería, quitarlo y con la ayuda de un esmeril volver a darle la forma redondeada para que recupere su forma natural. Al colocarlo otra vez nada mas habría que hacer los ajustes para que quede en su posición bien pegadito debajo de la cuchilla de campana. Si Ud. usa mucho su máquina le recomiendo compre un rodillo de acero que es para siempre.

Estoy tratando de sacarlo pero la tuerca con la que se afloja es medio difícil de agarrar, de todas maneras me estuve fijando los repuestos en Aliexpress que me parece que esos llegarán más rápido que si espero que abran los negocios acá jaja. Voy a tratar de hacer lo que me dice con el esmeril para salir del paso mientras tanto. Gracias!
@@bordadoraaustral9250 Para poder esmerilar parejo alrededor del rodillo, utilize una varilla de metal que calze en el orificio de lado a lado. Sujetar los extremos de la varilla con cada mano. Al acercarlo al esmeril que debe estar fijo , éste rotará y lo que hay que hacer es seguir la forma ovalada moviéndolo de un lado a otro. Si es posible estar verificando con el borde interior de la cuchilla de campana. Este trabajo, lo puede hacer con facilidad un herrero. Ellos cuentan con esmeriladoras fijas de banco. En estos tiempos el internet brinda mucha facilidad y los productos llegan hasta la puerta de la casa. Alibaba es una buena fuente. Con sus consejos logré que mí máquina rebajara lo suficientemente bien para trabajar mientras espero los repuestos que pedí por AliExpress, se supone que el paquete ya está en mí ciudad así que consulto si se necesita alguna herramienta especial para sacar el roller de su lugar? Pude sacar la pieza completa anteriormente pero el roller en si no vi manera de sacarlo para cambiarlo y como compré esa pieza me ésto empezando a preocupar, tendrá un video donde aparezca ese cambio?

Estas máquinas rebajadoras de cuero también pueden rebajar materiales sintéticos (1, 2, 3, 4,5 mm de grosor). Hay que tomar en cuenta que muchos de los sintéticos tienen refuerzo de tela por debajo y por lo tanto sin tela se debilitaría.

Estimado amigo, Al encender la máquina inmediatamente le comunica solamente movimiento a la 'cuchilla de campana' en forma continua. El 'rodillo de arrastre' es independiente y funciona con sistema de 'clutch' similar al motor de una máquina de coser. Es decir si está relacionado y conectado al sistema de polea principal mediante una palanca vertical que llega al 'pedal' que está colocada al nivel del piso. Si no presiono el 'pedal' no hay movimiento del rodillo. Si presiono el 'pedal' despacio, el arrastre es lento y controlable. Si presiono con mas fuerza entonces el arrastre es mas rápido y lo uso aveces para 'rebajar' piezas rectas. Prefiero una velocidad lenta o media. Cualquier pregunta la contestaré con mucho gusto siempre y cuando esté a mi alcance. ¡Bienvenido a este canal!

Si se refiere Ud. a la piedra de afilar la cuchilla de campana. En este modelo de máquina de rebajar la piedra de afilado esta girando constantemente una vez encendida la máquina. La primera perilla del frente es la que la acerca o la aleja cuando ya no se va a afilar la cuchilla. A lo mejor se refiere al barril de arrastre del material. Efectivamente hay modelos que son de piedra. Para mi máquina le compré una de acero. En este modelo la piedra no gira si la máquina se detiene por alguna motivo. Tiene sistema de clutch. Hay máquinas que van directas y estan girando todo el tiempo.

I do not remember how long is the belt. These short rubber belts have a standard measure for the kind/model of skiving machine.

@@Cechaflo Efectivamente, pasa en las esquinas. En la intersección de dos desvastes, se come la parte desvastada, anteriormente.

Is there a need to deburr 1 cm in from the edge, or is it enough to deburr just the edge?
It is advisable juust the edge.
Would a rubber feed roller feed the leather better than the ridged steel roller?
A technician told me that steel rollers are forever. I cannot give a definitive judgment.

Tengo una duda, el rodillo que va justo debajo de la cuchilla de mi máquina está como gastado a un cm más o menos de la orilla y cuando rebajo esa parte me queda más marcada, con ésta situación de pandemia sumado a que vivo en una ciudad alejada de la capital no veo posible conseguir el repuesto pronto, será posible que se pueda dar vuelta el rodillo para que la parte gastada quede hacia atrás? Espero se entienda mi pregunta, gracias nuevamente
Ambos extremos tienen diferente entrada si quisiéramos dar vuelta el rodillo. Si se aflojara la parte metálica que va en el interior se podría invertir la posición. Desconozco que tan ajustado esté. Se corre el riesgo que se rompa el rodillo.
Una solución sería, quitarlo y con la ayuda de un esmeril volver a darle la forma redondeada para que recupere su forma natural. Al colocarlo otra vez nada mas habría que hacer los ajustes para que quede en su posición bien pegadito debajo de la cuchilla de campana.
Si Ud. usa mucho su máquina le recomiendo compre un rodillo de acero que es para siempre.

Estoy tratando de sacarlo pero la tuerca con la que se afloja es medio difícil de agarrar, de todas maneras me estuve fijando los repuestos en Aliexpress que me parece que esos llegarán más rápido que si espero que abran los negocios acá jaja. Voy a tratar de hacer lo que me dice con el esmeril para salir del paso mientras tanto. Gracias!
@@bordadoraaustral9250 Para poder esmerilar parejo alrededor del rodillo, utilize una varilla de metal que calze en el orificio de lado a lado. Sujetar los extremos de la varilla con cada mano. Al acercarlo al esmeril que debe estar fijo , éste rotará y lo que hay que hacer es seguir la forma ovalada moviéndolo de un lado a otro. Si es posible estar verificando con el borde interior de la cuchilla de campana. Este trabajo, lo puede hacer con facilidad un herrero. Ellos cuentan con esmeriladoras fijas de banco.
En estos tiempos el internet brinda mucha facilidad y los productos llegan hasta la puerta de la casa. Alibaba es una buena fuente.

Con sus consejos logré que mí máquina rebajara lo suficientemente bien para trabajar mientras espero los repuestos que pedí por AliExpress, se supone que el paquete ya está en mí ciudad así que consulto si se necesita alguna herramienta especial para sacar el roller de su lugar? Pude sacar la pieza completa anteriormente pero el roller en si no vi manera de sacarlo para cambiarlo y como compré esa pieza me ésto empezando a preocupar, tendrá un video donde aparezca ese cambio?

Buenas amigo saludos, cómo te va tengo una pregunta, aquí en Venezuela es muy dificil por cuestiones de costo trabajar con cuero, se usa más en sintético, pero hay materiales sintéticos muy grueso s con las máquina de descarnado sirve también para semicuero??? Estas máquinas rebajadoras de cuero también pueden rebajar materiales sintéticos (1, 2, 3, 4,5 mm de grosor). Hay que tomar en cuenta que muchos de los sintéticos tienen refuerzo de tela por debajo y por lo tanto sin tela se debilitaría.

Estimado amigo, Al encender la máquina inmediatamente le comunica solamente movimiento a la 'cuchilla de campana' en forma continua. El 'rodillo de arrastre' es independiente y funciona con sistema de 'clutch' similar al motor de una máquina de coser. Es decir si está relacionado y conectado al sistema de polea principal mediante una palanca vertical que llega al 'pedal' que está colocada al nivel del piso. Si no presiono el 'pedal' no hay movimiento del rodillo.
Si presiono el 'pedal' despacio, el arrastre es lento y controlable. Si presiono con mas fuerza entonces el arrastre es mas rápido y lo uso aveces para 'rebajar' piezas rectas. Prefiero una velocidad lenta o media.

Hello Geri, The little groove comes that way from factory. It is like a guide to stop the edge of thin leather.

¿por que no gira la piedra?
Si se refiere Ud. a la piedra de afilar la cuchilla de campana. En este modelo de máquina de rebajar la piedra de afilado esta girando constantemente una vez encendida la máquina. La primera perilla del frente es la que la acerca o la aleja cuando ya no se va a afilar la cuchilla.
A lo mejor se refiere al barril de arrastre del material. Efectivamente hay modelos que son de piedra. Para mi máquina le compré una de acero. En este modelo la piedra no gira si la máquina se detiene por alguna motivo. Tiene sistema de clutch.
Hay máquinas que van directas y estan girando todo el tiempo.
