    A binding strip or trim on a carpet edge is a way to finish the edge to get a nice look. Besides it is useful to avoid the wool thread fraying.
    For this process there are special attachments for different sewing machines which make the process easy and the outcome is perfect.
    But most of the car upholsterers do not have these special devices and we have to make the process 'by eyeball'.
    Through the watching of this video you will find several tips that will help to make the binding process easier.
    I hope you find the video useful!

    Last weekend I fought binding carpet with vinyl that had multiple inside and outside 90 degree corners. I would love to see a video that would address those sharp inside and outside corners.

      Hopefully this video helps though the way of attaching the binding strip is different:ua-cam.com/video/1K-qg6rvl7k/v-deo.htmlsi=i-UJhoFe8dsTTrQO&t=1028

      @@Cechaflo Thank you! But I really need the fold over from the front to the back binding like you did in this video instead of the wrap the edge and sew once raw edge type. I actually watched the one you just linked multiple times last weekend 😃

      @@beetlevert To deal with 90° corners or pointed angles following the method of this video it would be to start out in a corner and end on the other corner. The binding would be side by side. Unfortunately I have no video this way.

    Where can I get one of the edge roller guides?? I have an old Eco 45 phaff, will it fit on one of these old machines.. Thank you..

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  7 місяців тому +3

      The description on Amazon ad does not mention Eco 45, but after watching a video I think the suspending edge guide would fit in the back of the machine.
      www.amazon.com/Sewing-Machine-Hanging-Suspended-Accessories/dp/B08BNQQW72
      The Pfaff 1245 has small threaded holes (nuts) in the back where the device can be attached. In your machine, I don't know. But if necessary you could drill and make the thread for the screws to attach the guiding accessory.

      Es un plastico 'antiderrapante'. Ayuda a dar mas consistencia al tapete y no permite que resbale. Estos tapetes pueden usarse en los carros o en casa.
      También hay antiderrapantes de hule/goma.

    Is overlocking carpet a good option for car carpet material ? With binding it tends to cause a curl due to the stretch on corners.

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  7 місяців тому +2

      I think so. I particularly like the serging of carpet edges. Unless I would have a carpet binding machine especially for the purpose.

      Some attachments are useful to get flat corners on carpets, like this homemade one:

      You can add or reduce the amount of binding "fullness" depending on whether you're dealing with inside or outside corners. Basic stuff on flat, stiff materials.

    For long time I wanted to make myself carpets but I'm not familiar with the material on the lower part, the hard one on which to bind the carpet. Can you tell me how it's called?

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  7 місяців тому +2

      The material on the lower part is a non-sliding plastic for floor mats. It could be rubber too.

      Weld wood upholstery and vinyl top adhesive. You can run it through a cheap cup gun for paint. Available at keyston bros or any upholstery suppliers
