- Feed the Birds (from "Mary Poppins") Cover by Elizabeth South was released 9/28/13 on iTunes at: itunes.apple.com/us/album/fee...
A friend & co-worker of mine has been asking me for several years to record a Broadway Disney favorite "Feed the Birds" from Mary Poppins. While I was recording my new Country Album this summer (to release this coming year), I found a moment to quickly record it for her finally! So this song is dedicated to Michelle Rosen. Recording this song takes me back to my beginning roots of singing & the fact that Julie Andrews has always been my favorite singer.
I hope you will all enjoy it! Please comment, thumbs up, and share! I thank you in advance!
Blessings always,
Elizabeth South

The crumbs are meant to represent the time we give to our children - time which we can never have again once they have flown the nest.
Thats so beautiful
sublime... one of the best versions I've heard. takes me right back to childhood.
Thank you so much for the kind words.
Still listening to this cover👌
Beautiful singing, I can just close my eyes and imagine the scene and I can see the cathedral and the old lady feeding the birds. It always amazes me how well you can take a song and make it sound so beautiful. I pray that you continue to put out more beautiful songs that would touch people. Blessings always.
Ryan David Zuidema Aww, WOW. Thanks so much for the kind words!!

I do not want to exaggerate, but I think you have no doubt one of the most beautiful and uplifting voices I've ever heard...
Jan Mentzik Wow! That is one of the sweetest compliments I’ve ever heard! Thank you!!
I’m back four years later. Introducing my daughter to this magnificent rendition. Dare I say it’s better than Julie’s? I dare. :-) You’ve captured this hauntingly beautiful song in every way it was meant to be.
Wow, what a wonderful and amazing thing to say. It really means so much that you feel that way. I hope your daughter enjoys it also.
My lovely nan pass away recently and we played this for her at the frunral was so touching piece of music
waynepoll33 I'm sorry to hear that. Thank you for sharing this music.
This deserves more love
As someone who is highly picky with their music and versions of songs, this... this made me cry.
Not only did you get the spirit of the song right, which I could feel through your pauses and pronunciation, you show that you actually understand the song and it's meaning by the way you focus your voice just right... all in all, this is one of the few covers I will forever hold to the same title as the original, and I'd be proud if I'd made it.
Thank you for taking the time to write these kind words. You truly made my day. ❤️
Simply beautiful. That ending gets me every time, great job 😊
Elizabeth, it is so enjoyable to "discover" a new song that you have sung before, in this case nine years ago. This song shows the great range you have in your vocals. It is quite amazing and I'm happy to have heard your version of it. I hope life is treating you very well. Have a great 2023 year!
Beautiful.....truly

This cover makes me ugly-cry every time I listen to it.
And that's not a bad thing at all.

The best cover of this beautiful song I have ever heard. Breathtaking voice. I was wondering if you would ever do a cover of these songs below.
- Emma's Song (Once Upon A Time)
- On My Father's Wings (Quest For Camelot)
- Little One (The Rescuers)
- Journey To The Past (Anastasia)
- Flying Dreams (The Secret Of Nimh)

Hi Elizabeth!! Great performance. You show how good your voice really is! really good, Richard :))
almost made me cry:)
your voice is so beautiful!
dolce ricordo di un film visto da bambina che ancora commuove come allora..grazie
If it's not Julie Andrew's version I'm not interested - until I found this. I'm using my wife's account to thank you for providing a wonderful alternative to Julie.
very beautiful. such a nice voice :)
Your voice is very beautiful for this song. Also, I want to acknowledge and give kudos out to the music of your piece, too. I’m a keyboardist, and love instrumental music. “Feed the Birds” has just the right amount of major and minor chords. Almost has a Danny Elfman touch to it. Magnificent!!!!
Kevbo Kev Wow. What an awesome comment. Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. It really means a lot to me. 😊
Lovely. Your voice reminds me of Agnetha Fältskog of ABBA.
Lewberace Aww, thank you so much!😊
love song james
Hello Elizabeth, on which label was this released? Or was it self-released?
SecondHandSongs It was self released. Thank you!!!!
I cried like a banshee...
Early each day to the steps of Saint Paul's
The little old bird woman comes
In her own special way to the people
She calls, "Come, buy my bags full of crumbs"
"Come feed the little birds, show them you care
And you'll be glad if you do
Their young ones are hungry, their nests are so bare
All it takes is tuppence from you"
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag
Feed the birds", that's what she cries
While overhead, her birds fill the skies
All around the cathedral, the saints and apostles
Look down as she sells her wares
Although you can't see it, you know they are smiling
Each time someone shows that he cares
Though her words are simple and few
"Listen, listen", she's calling to you
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag"
Though her words are simple and few
"Listen, listen", she's calling to you
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag"
Is this your only video of this song?
Had you ever thought of doing a cover of "I Never Told You" or "The Little Things"?
