    Thanks, appreciate it. Just as a side note to your UPDATE: When I heard Adobe was no longer going to be able to export DD, I kept my older 2017 version. I can see that this version is no longer available to roll back to and all links to it have been removed, presumebly becuase of the DD licensing issue. I am VERY glad I kept my older version.

    • @VideoRevealed

      I think the license for all old versions is not valid anymore.

      @jasonmorris1165 4 роки тому

      Wait, what? So then you can't make films, shows, etc that require DD anymore. So if you're working for Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, or for distribution and the audio post house delivers the sound in 5.1, you can't deliver it in DD? So then Adobe P is out of the game

    Of course more bitrate is better. 448 for surround. Highpass only removes DC below 3 Hz, that and rear attenuation by 3db should be adjusted in the mix. The max bandwidth of the LFE is already limited without the lowpass. If you were to transcode a soundtrack, you don't want to apply the filters a second time.
    Besides being a loudness target, dialnorm also sets the threshold the dynamic compression that is built into the decoder. Loudness normalization was not liked, but has now returned in every audio distribution format. New Dolby encoders can measure it automatically.
    What was the purpose of the HDCD flag? Since we have a lossy codec with ca. 18-bits, the special encoding of HDCD can't be transmitted and the greater range can be expressed directly. What was it supposed to do? It's very old stuff. DTS also has this flag. Could it perform the peak extension? It seems to me they misunderstood something about the HDCD. It relies on a lossless channel to encode hidden parameters.

    Hello, and thanks very informative. after exporting im getting approximately 6db drop in level on all 6 channels. keep messing with settings but no improvement. I am an audio engineer and the film needed an ac3 5.1 so was just converting. I am well with in the atsc loudness standards. when playing the surround mix the master fader reads same output as main file {not altered} so the level drop is occurring in the export? thanks for any help. Adobe no longer includes a license for Dolby and now they rely on the operating system to decode that format. You'll need Windows 10 as Windows 7 does not include native Dolby decode support.
      You can also purchase a Dolby license from several companies.

      Exporting to stereo, which is what headphones are, will simply mix all channels to left and right and you'll loose the surround sound experience.

    Thanks for the great video. I am trying to solve a slightly different problem. Does Premiere export an AC3 file as an AC3 file? I have imported a ProRes file with AC3 audio. It plays and edits fine in Premiere. But when I try to export I can't find an option to export the audio in AC3 format.

      Thanks. I did try that before but I noticed the codec is identified in finder as a mono sound file. Whereas my original AC3 sound file, within finder, is identified as an AC3. Thought I was doing something wrong. I'll try again and import the exported file to see how it is identified within Premiere. Thanks for getting back.

    I have been very puzzled how to create a DVD directly from Adobe Premier Pro because a person I work with needed it for a school project. It's incredibly easy to prepare a video for UA-cam, but I had to use an old Windows movie maker program in order to get a DVD made.

    Thank you for the great tutorial! I'm a sound mixer and often export 5.1 files to send to editors for exporting from Premiere. My question arises from the fact that I have been trying to export a short example of my 5.1 mix with video from Premiere myself. I have the latest version (subscription) of Premiere. I followed your steps by making a 5.1 sequence and then adding the video and the 5.1 file I mixed and exported from Audition. I see clearly that my master shows all 6 channels. But, when I choose .h264 in the export dialog box, I do not get a choice to export the audio format as Dolby Digital, only AAC or mpeg which does not allow exporting as 5.1 audio. What am I missing?

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  6 років тому

      Bad news, since I recorded this tutorial Adobe has not renewed their Dolby license so as a result, any Dolby export functionality will not be available in any version of Premiere Pro CC, Audition CC or Media Encoder CC (even all the older versions).
      The only option is to purchase a third party encoder. I had a look and the options are very confusing by many different vendors with Dolby being the most, crazy expensive.

    • @daknuts1
      @daknuts1 6 років тому

      That explains it ;( ...and thank you for the fast reply. After experimenting a little bit I have been able to export my 5.1 sound + video but it was a tortured experience that I'll have to try to repeat before I can even remember the steps to be able to repeat or explain it to someone else. I almost feel like I tricked Media Encoder into doing it! - You make great tutorials, btw. Thanks again.

      Actually if you export audio as AAC separately, using: File> Export>Media>AAC Audio. then transcode that AAC file using "Xmedia Recode" ( a free download) to ac3 you will have a Dolby Digital Surround Sound file., providing all settings are correct that is.

    What about if you are bringing in a 5.1 Camcorder file. When you put it on the timeline, It puts the 5.1 audio all on one line so there is no real control over the audio in the camcorder file?

    • @VideoRevealed

    • @tonyienco
      @tonyienco 7 років тому

      Thank you kindly for that. I had already watched that, but my confusion is, a lot of the hd camcorders record a avchd mts file. In that file, the 5.1 channels are embedded. If I drag that clip onto the make new time line, It puts the 5.1 audio from the file on ONE 5.1 audio track only. This means the only control you have over that track is to raise and lower the volume of the whole 5.1 channels not individual ones. I hope I am explaining myself correctly. Thanks again.

    • @VideoRevealed

    • @VideoRevealed

      If you have an old version installed, then yes, you have Dolby. As soon as you update, it will be gone.
      The removal of Dolby encoding is very new so I really don't know what people are doing. My guess is, if they are professional audio engineers, then they're most likely using a different program for audio like Pro Tools, Nuendo or Logic.

      Absolutely it's essential to keep similar audio clips on the same track. it's easier to organize but more importantly, it's better to mix all the dialog if it's on one track compared to SFX on another track.

      @@VideoRevealed I'm trying to burn a Blu-ray with Premiere Pro CC. I've selected H.264 (the Blu-ray preset didn't let me change the audio settings) with audio channels set to 5.1. However, it's AAC, and I'm using tsMUXER to create my .iso file (I've used Encore in the past, but I accidentally didn't export the file as 5.1 from Premiere). tsMUXER is saying AAC is not a Blu-ray compatible codec (or something similar). If they removed Dolby from Premiere, how do I burn Blu-ray discs in 5.1? Is there another codec I can download?

    It's all Greek to me! I think if you would have demonstrated this using an actual project, with sound FX, dialogue and music, that would have been clearer. In another words, showing how all of this comes together in an actual film project, that would have made more sense.

    U may think this is a joke but believe me it is not. With the name Van Winkle not being very common, Next time you have a chance to speak with Mr. Van Winkle ask him if he had a relative named 'Rip' that served with the 410th Airborne Missile Maintenance Squander at K.I. Sawyer AFB Upper Michigan in 1966-67.

      What you're looking at is the Playhead zoomed to a single frame and the little line is showing which frame it pertains to. This cannot be turned off.

      I promise to pay for subtitles when this channel starts making enough money. In case you're wondering, it doesn't currently justify paying someone to create subtitles, especially for a free channel.

      También está la opción de que tú aprendas inglés y, de paso, a respetar (por lo de abuelo).
