  • If you have been dreaming of a Tesla Model S but couldnt afford the $100k plus price tag for a Performance version of the Model S than this super clean example might be the one for you. There is now a long track record of Tesla vehicles with 200, 300 and even 400k miles! The record right now is 420k miles and batter capacity is still at 80%, so with only 52k miles on this P85 plus there is lots and lots of life left. Also do to the simple nature of an electric motor there is very little to go wrong compared to an internal combustion engine with lots of complex parts and with regenerative braking even brake pads last a really long time and you will never need to worry about oil changes, spark plugs, timing belts and transmission services. While this P85 plus might be a little overshowed by the new P90 and P100 versions, it still makes 414-hp and 443 pound feet of torque, has nearly a 250 mile range and can go 0-60-mph in under 5 seconds which is still faster than most of the other cars on the road.

    Great Tesla review bought a pearl white cream interior Model S P85 back in 2014 still got it now 140,000 miles. Ive driven the P85+ and you can tell they have really worked on that suspension, its coil springs, gas dampers and staggered wheels on the + and that car really handles. My car is air suspension which I prefer for wadeing in floods. RWD cars tend to have a nice precise feel to the steering and being a pre 2016 Ive got the free supercharging and data prefer the 19" wheels (powder coated black). Ive a sunroof delete no need to look at grey UK skies LOL. Had all 4 door handles replace with V2.5 there are no moving wires or microswitches they do the V2.5 (latest mechanism on the classic cars mounting plates with a special adaptor harness) and the software is updated so you have to have all 4 done but again its reasonable cost. Cant see me selling this car its even faster now than when I bought it. And yep the low C of G is a massive reason why these big units handle so well.....cant beat physics!

      Yes I'm pretty sure thats the case, the braking is pretty aggressive, I think people would be getting rear ended all the time if it didnt

    Greetings, I'm pretty sure pricing is going up due to gas prices. Do you think these models in this condition will still be under 40k? Thanks also do you have any in inventory like this and what's it's price?

      Tesla demand is very strong right now. This car probably went up in value about $10k since we sold it. We just sold a 2014 Model S 60 with 32k miles for a little under $40k so it is still possible to find them. We only have a 2018 P100D and a 2021 3 Long Range right now. We are working on finding more this coming week. They have been selling really well and the rise in gas prices has only accelerated the demand even more.

    I wonder just how reliable/smart it would be to buy a 2013 model that is out of warranty? I ask because I am looking at a very nice 2013 P85+ with only 11k miles...but sure would HATE for something crazy to happen and I be out of warranty...especially when I hear that Tesla charges around $20,000 for a new battery pack.

    • @infinitioftacoma1
      @infinitioftacoma1  2 роки тому

      Yes if the batteries went bad it would total the car. So far with Tesla batteries, even on the older ones they seem to be very reliable. We did buy a 2016 Model X that did previously have the batteries replaced under warranty, that Model X also had free Supercharging for life so that might of played a role into the battery degrading faster if it was supercharged a lot, so maybe stray away from ones that were Supercharged a lot if possible. Tesla can also test the batteries so you can always do that before buying. Tesla expects the batteries in their cars to actually outlast the cars and be refurbished and used in powerwalls and megapacks so they are built really well and have complex thermal management systems to keep them happy and long lasting. A Model S is comparable to a BMW or Mercedes and just like buying an older BMW or Mercedes if the engine goes that can be expensive too. So really buying any older high end car, there is always the risk of costly repairs.

      Replaccing the battery is not the only option - more and more third battery repair shops can repair the battery packs as the common issue is either a module or fuse gone wrong. it|s extremely rare for the entire battery pack to go wrong. I have a2013 out of all warranty and Im not worried at all. so far driven 250000 km.

      I am in the same situation. Here's a list of things to watch for according to my research/ discussion with owners:
      1. If the MCU was updated to 2.0;
      2. If the driving unit (DU) was changed to newer models as the first generation had bearing problems that might render the car useless and cost +$;
      3. When the battery was changed. A lot of older 75D/85D had their battery changed for a 90kWh battery because older battery had problems. (Also, a used Tesla Model S with very low mileage can be risky as the battery didn't have the chance to do enough cycles to know for sure if the battery is problem free, just to give you a head up);
      4. The door handles are problematic, ask if they had them replaced or had problems with them before;
      5. Early models with panoramic sunroof had problems with the sliding mechanism and the seals which would lead to error message, sunroof not working properly and water getting into the car (check for any signs of water in the car and around the pillars);
      6. Moisture building up inside the front light, front fog lights and back lights. Can be very expensive to repair;
      7. The trunk opening system (the hydraulic pistons) gets easily damaged over time. Check for any weird sounds when opening/closing, presence of oil or oily dirty accumulation around the pistons and the metal brackets maintaining the assembly together; and
      8. The seals around the windows (when you open and close the doors, the windows slide down and back up which create friction on the seals) and the driver door. They have a tendency to come appart or deteriorate as the driver rubs on it when getting in and out of the car.
      Of course there's you have to talk to the owner, check the service record and everything else, but these are my main concern other than that. Hope it helps ya!

    How do I find a tesla auction near Florida? Thanks

    • @infinitioftacoma1
      @infinitioftacoma1  11 місяців тому

      You need to have a dealership wholesale license to attend one of those auctions. It would either be through Manhiem or Adesa auto auction, they should have a lot of locations in Florida and I'm sure Tesla runs cars there. If you have a friend or know someone with a dealers license they could help you get access to one of the Tesla sales.

    Looking at a P85 that has 150k miles for $30k. I know used car prices are up generally speaking right now, but curious if that is a good deal. I want a Cybertruck, but know I'm going to be waiting for a long time and want to trade my Camry at a good deal for a Tesla before it loses too much value. Lol

    • @infinitioftacoma1

      Tesla prices are crazy, this one in the video probably is worth another $10k more than when I shot the video. They expect batteries to last anywhere between 300-500k miles so it potentially has a lot more life left in it.When you buy any vehicle with 150k miles there is potential for something serious to go wrong at any time so its a bit of a gamble. I would feel a lot better getting a P85 with 150k than a AMG Mercedes or M5. Though we have never had any high mile ones the Model S seems to be a well built vehicle. The only issue I have seen is a yellow ring around the screens, lagging screens and door handles breaking.

      @@DallasTechie The problem is Lexus only have hybrid and ICE cars. Also there is a reason why the Lexus service department is a cash cow, you will pay out a lot more in regular service costs, 30, 60 and 90k services are not cheap. Timing belts are very expensive to replace. With the Tesla you are just replacing tires, air filters and wiper blades. No major services and with regenerative braking you will probably get at least 100k miles out of you brakes if not more. That doesnt include all the money you will be saving on gas. Lexus makes some of the best ICE cars in the world, but BEVs are proving to be superior than ICE in many ways.

      @@infinitioftacoma1 I've often wonder what is taking Toyota and Honda so long to come to market with a full EV. Would be interesting to see if they could improve on some of the quality issues that Tesla has been having. I agree with you EVs are becoming more real world practical and for good reasons. I'm just hesitant to jump in the EV market as I'm a huge quality / reliability guy. Currently anticipating how Lucid and Rivian's long term reliability will be ??

    • @infinitioftacoma1
      @infinitioftacoma1  2 роки тому +3

      @@DallasTechie Tesla has such a head start on EVs it will be hard for everyone else catches up. By the time everyone catches to where they are now Tesla will just be that much further ahead. Tesla right now is the only company who can profitably build and sell EVs on a massive scale and Tesla has been around since 2008, so as far as quality goes they are plenty of Teslas with 100-200 and even 500+ thousands miles, the quality is there. Tesla has issues with fit and finish which has improved a lot, but aside from poor panel gaps or crappy paint they have proven to be very reliable vehicles. We have bought and sold over 50 Teslas at our store all the way from 2013 model years to 2021 and they have had minimal issues.

    NEVER buy these 2013's from Tesla or at a Tesla auction. This Tesla model originally sold and came with free lifetime supercharging. Tesla is buying this model back and others like it that originally came with the free lifetime supercharging. Tesla then waives the lifetime supercharging contract and promptly resells -minus the free charging.
    If you're thinking of buying this exact model, you're going to love it. I love my Tesla S P85, but I'm very glad I bought it from a private dealer and still have the free lifetime supercharging.

    Sooo many mistakes in the very first minute of this video: 2013 Tesla S85 had a fully charged range of 265 miles (or more depending on climate and driving conditions) when new; the first Tesla was a "roadster" not a "rotor", and is based on the Lotus Elise, not the Elan. And I wish you would stop saying "step on the gas", when you mean "accelerator pedal". You are in an all electric car -- there is no "gas".

    • @infinitioftacoma1
      @infinitioftacoma1  Рік тому

      Since Tesla recommends you only charge the battery to 80-90-% the real world range is more like 200 miles. Its pretty hard to get the full EPA range out of Teslas. I have a 2019 Standard Range Plus and even thogh the EPA range is 240 miles when I charge mine to 100% its more like 217 miles. So 250 is a little more realistic than the 265. Yes I said Elan and meant to say Elise thank you for catching that. And I'm pretty sure I said Roadster instead of rotor LOL. Thank you for watching!
