Great interview,just now watched it which was my first time seeing it. Very very interesting to see the easy listening pop star legend Barry manilow sitting along with Chevy chase as they both had the roles as the singer and the actor in the same movie "Foul play ". Chevy and Dan made great appearances together in movies and outside of the movies! Both are comedy gold and will forever be comedy legends for the marvelous work they did in their careers!!!
Aykroyd is such a gem - you can tell he’s kind-hearted and sweet. By contrast, Chevy gives off such an arrogant and obnoxious vibe. Both funny in their own respects, but I’d rather have a drink with Danny any day.

He came from an extremely wealthy and emotionally abusive family, which clearly left a few marks on his character. And his comedic style really doesn’t hold up well in retrospect, whereas Dan’s (and many others from his era) does. His career mostly dried up by the mid-90s when the rest of the world decided to move on.

By the end of the season, NBC gave Lorne an ultimatum, find a new cast or the show would be cancelled. Jon Lovitz, Dennis Miller and Nora Dunn were the only ones from this cast to survive into the next year.

Akroyd developed fantastic characters and was genuinely funny. Chase could be occasionally funny but is by many accounts a monstrous asshole to people that have worked around him on different sets.
I really love these guys…I grew up with their antics and am still laughing thanks to them.

my mom LOVED Chevy, i like Chevy. But i believe Dan is more accomplished.
Chevy relies on his f'd up personality too much, Dan is actually a good actor. Both are hilarious.
