Smart money Brian, both on the amp and having them do the mod. I paid to have an EVH (Fender) amp modded at a Fender authorized shop. It introduced me to a great amp shop I use when I need an amp serviced. (It also introduced me to a bad amp shop too. Long story)
Sounds great. Love that Fruscante sound that amp has. I've got a Fender Champion 40. I got it for free from a friend, brand new condition, it just needed a cord and it has 2 channels. A clean, and you can add all the effects that are built in on the other. I have a Crate amp for my heavier sound. I had a Sun amp with double 10's years ago, and I wish I never got rid of it. I have a pedal with amp modeling that has the Marshall, Peavy, the 5150, and a few others in it.
The Princeton in my opinion is Fender's best amp circuit. Played a lot of these, some with reverb and some with tremelo, rarely with both. Haven't tried one with the mid mod. Cheers!!
I had the Deluxe Reverb about 10 years ago and loved that. But there is just something about this that’s awesome. Oh, by the way the Embers HOLY 🤬is that pedal awesome or what.
This is the exact amp that I want to get. Sometime down the line. Thanks for the review. I never knew about the mod, so now I will need to make sure I have that done before I eventually get mine.
I think since the price is the same doesn’t void the warranty there is no reason not to grab the mod. It’s funny Fender clean makes you want to play clean, but then I can’t hide my sloppy playing🤣
Very nice brother Brian🤙🏻and it sounds much better than before too!! My first amplifier was a Fender Princeton, but I ended up selling it. I was new to guitar then and didn’t know jack💩 about using pedals for this kind of amp. I needed a higher gain amplifier and didn’t realize that the Princeton was very pedal platform friendly lol. I did end up getting a Randall RH series amplifier for those high gain tones!! You should try and run some pedals through this. That would make for a good video bro. I wish that I knew more about amp’s and pedals when I 1st started playing guitar because I wouldn’t have sold my Fender, and I would have thought about running pedals through the damn thing. I’m expecting a shoot out between 2 and I am sure that brother Brian already has the same exact thought lol! Thanks brother Brian for the review and demo., and until next time…. Get naked, get your shred on, and keep it bluesy. Oh yeah and…. Stay safe, Stay metal, and don’t forget to riff.?!😎🤙🏻🥂🤘🏻🔥👊🏻🫶🏻
@@SearchingForToneyou are welcome brother. I’ll C-ya in the next video and if not then I’ll C-ya in the livestream on Humpday. Stay safe, Stay metal, and don’t forget to riff.?!😎🤙🏻👊🏻🤘🏻🔥
Sounds great, and the mod definitely adds some very useful variations. Some day when I have a dedicated space for my collection, this will probably be on my wish list.
I’d say it’s probably the perfect Fender at home that could probably do a decent job in a small gig venue….not that I’m giving anytime soon but at 5 it was enough to annoy the Mrs downstairs 🤣She wasn’t annoyed just thought something happened
I've been wanting a Princeton for years and waiting for a deal! I see you have cloned yourself again! For now I am dumping a bunch of amps and sticking to my Katana Artist II, Blackstar ID core Stereo3 for desk practice and a Crate V50 212 tube amp with Tone tubby 12" speakers. The amp is useless so I just want to use the Tone Tubby speakers as a cab for my Katana. I'm hearing almost a rotary, Leslie type sound from that Princeton. I love it! If there were an option for an expression pedal that would rock!
Picked up the Guitar Center Tweed version with a 12” speaker in it. There’s a reason most pedal builders design their pedals around this and the Deluxe Reverb. Many of my ‘sleeper’ pedals are keepers thanks to this amp. Such great clean tone.
I have always love Fender Clean. Hot Rod’s to me get too loud too quick dial past 2 it’s unusable at home. Deluxe reverbs are similar to this and can get louder, but there was something about Princeton just gets me thinking wow.
Very Cool, Thankyou Brian. Awesome Demo/Review. I have been very interested in The Princeton Reverb since seeing 'aliengtr' UA-cam channel and the Totally Amazing sound he created with his 'Stereo' (2) Princeton Reverb Rig, Looper, and his extreme talent. I hope to get one ... one day .... prices a bit all over the place here (No Mod of course in Oz).... from $1639- Australian for a (68' Re-issue Store open Box) , to $2300- for this '65 Model (with $1939- cheapest new and about $2000- to $2100- about average it appears for The '65). I am SUPER happy with my Fender Sidekick 15 Reverb (lol ... I know) I purchased in 1980's, perfect cleans, and takes pedals perfectly too, Amazing little Amp still working As New.... all I need for my 'bodgy' repetitive blues noodling that I do ..... But I stiil MUST HAVE a Princeton Reverb ... One day hahaha. All The Best. Cheers
Yikes! I was saying to Neil it’s almost cheaper for you to fly to USA get an amp and bring it home….I heard a story of a starting guitar company used to by airline tickets for a guitar and pre security checks would bring it to the gate and give it to the flight attendant the recipient would pick it up at the arrival airport
Nice amp this Princeton, I like Fender amps right now I’m just recording so I’m using a blues jr tube amp for its warmth.. that Princeton has a very crispy tone .. sweet bro! Keep jamming my friend and thanks for all the info on this rig 🤙🏾🎸🏖️
Yeah I got it for about 100 less open box. But they do the mod and price doesn’t change. It really is a nice simple mod, and doesn’t void the warranty.
Congratulations on your new amp. Lyle from the Psionic Audio channel has an excellent video on reliability and tone upgrades for Fender re-issue amps (ua-cam.com/video/i11gQNaFmRc/v-deo.html). It appears Sweetwater has already made a couple of the mods for you. I suggest watching the video to learn about the reliability updates. Lyle's recommendation is to have an amp tech make these changes within a year or two of purchase. Once done, you should get many years of problem free playing from your Princeton.
@@leighsayers2628 I forget who I saw said the 12” was too much. Maybe Phil McKnight ??? Not sure thought it was a reputable YT. It seems a speaker swap is the first thing anyone does. What model did you put in yours?

Hey that would be a great story to share in the amp channel on the Discord Id love to hear that one
I think you got a great deal Brian! Nice demo brother!

AwesomeAwesome😎🤙 I was going to pickup a Champ at Xmas time
@SearchingForTone that's the amp I use on my videos when I play my guitars most of the time.
Can't go wrong with a Princeton Reverb! One of the best amps Fender ever made! Nice demo, Brian!
Thank you kindly. I never plugged into one until that day, have had other Fenders before. Totally agree it is a great amp 😎🤙

@SearchingForTone you can't go wrong with the classics
Yup modded from SW is the same price as the stock version. Very cool amp
It’s pretty much saying hey you have to get this one instead right😎🤙🤣
@ why would you not? Unless you’re really craving the stock one? Or just get both and go stereo!!!
@ thought about a second one someone out there runs two in stereo…like 2 princetons🤣
@ wouldn’t it be 120 cycle Hum? 🤪 l’m WDW so i’d need 3 😂
@ that would be awesome 😎🤙 I wonder if in parallel it’s 120 and in series it’s 3600 that’s a lot of cycles
That's got great tone! I love it.
I have always loved Fender clean, I don’t know if it’s because Ive had the Marshall for so long but it’s even better now adding this.

The mid mod would be a must for me, without it just sounds a bit thin and brittle. A great amp to have in the collection. Great job gent 👍
Thanks brother. I thought I was going to awaken an amp buying frenzy now that I broke the seal. But sticker prices easily deter that🤣
