  • In this video we will go over how you read a Mosaic Chart which also called a Mosaic Graph. I"m using one of mine and I may have a few minor details that others do not use, however this will give you an idea of how to go about reading any chart or graph for Mosaic Crochet.
    Stay tuned for future videos where I will show you how to create your own charts as well as how to take a use things found on Pintrest to create a chart by marking where you need to do the drop down double crochets. Also coming soon will be a video on how you can use charts with different multiples together in one design!

    Sometimes you say you have to crochet a few stitches before the repeat starts. Where do I see that on the pattern . Thanks.

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  4 роки тому +7

      Great question! If you look at the entire row and start to count those boxes by how they ate marked or not marked you will see the repeat. Then you can identify when you have to do a few stitches before the repeat begins. ROW 3, for example, the row where you do like 9 drop downs and then 3 back loops, the repeat starts with the 9 drop downs ends with the 3rd bk loop sc, you have to do 2 back loop sc before your repeat starts. I'm doing another video to talk about identifying the repeat that might also help if thats not making sense.

    Thank you for explaining the charts. I have one question, I'm confused at the very bottom you say chain multiples of 12 plus 4 at the end so if I wanted to continue to make this wider, would I need to add 4 stitches to each multiple of 12?

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  4 роки тому +2

      Thanknyou! No you 9nly add 4 to the very end of your chain. So you chain 12 + 12 + 12 etc until you reach the desired size for your project then you add 4 to the very end.

    My “A-HA!” moment finally came at the end with your last explanation-what absolutely did not make sense to me reading this chart is if we are alternating Color A on one row, and then Color B on the next row, why are both rows still identical colors? It wasn’t until you explained that by dropping the stitch down one row the resulting stitch covers up the previous color…such an A-HA for me because nothing made sense from the sheer visual view of the chart. Alas…now perhaps I’ve got that Helen Keller moment…and may at last decide to do a mosaic using a chart. I’m exhausted.😂

    • @FiberFoxStudios

      That should be row counts just done in a different format. There is also another mosaic technique that I do not know how to do...Marly Bird and the Crochet Crowd teach that method. The result of their method is a double sided piece where my method results in one side having the design. The method both of those designers teach involves turning your work and doing chains and skipping stitches. Those charts COULD be for that type but I'm pretty sure you could simply work them in the way that I teach mosaic.

    Hi: Sometimes I forget where my drop-down is suppose to go. Can you give me any tips?

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  4 місяці тому

      It's always going directly down to the corresponding stitch 2 rows below on all my patterns except for the snowflake. That's the only one with special stitches. Your dc's on even numbered rows will anchor to the evem numbered row below, odd numbered rows anchor to odd numbered row below. Other than knowing the rule of where they go, marking the repeat with a stitch marker will help you to keep track of the repeat as you work and you can refer to your marked repeat when you forget. Hope that helps you.

      If you watch the 3rd row instruction on one of my tutorials you will see what loop to pick up. It's the front loop that we leave when doing a sc on the previous row that is pucked up for the dc. Seeing it is easier than explaining. All my tutorials have timestamps and my channel videos are all organized by playlists.
      Hope this helps!

      DrMehjabin Hirani That is a different TYPE of Mosaic Crochet. From what I’ve come to understand, there are at least 2 different techniques for making Mosaic Crochet. The one you’re asking about seems too confusing for me. There are quite a few differences. One is that they work the front and back side of the project...hence 1a ,1b, 2a,2b. Another difference is the yarn is usually carried up the side of the work rather than cutting it. I’m sure there are many more differences but I’m not educated enough to explain each one. I hope this helps!

      Based on what other lefties who follow the Mosaic stuff I do as long as the design is symmetrical they can read the chart from left to right or right to left and it works out great either way. Some follow the tutorials only and just work from the left following the repeats in the video and that also works out great for them. .
