It's a good day, I lucked into a store pick of this today. My sister, a few states away, was looking for some 1910 and sends a picture of this. "No, that's not it, but please buy me one!!". 131 proof.
Picked up a bottle at Costco here in Vegas for $68. Opened it as soon as I got home and immediately drove back to Costco to buy a few more bottles. 131.5 proof but it doesn't drink that hot to me, definitely one of my favorites.
Old Forester Single Barrel Barrel Strength is one of my absolute favorites. I have been lucky enough to find 4 of them in 2023 at MSRP. They are flavorful and drink well below their proof. I have one that is 131.1 proof, 1 that is 131.3 proof and 2 that are 130.9 proof. I will pick these up anytime that I would find them at MSRP. 🥃
It took us a long time to find the 1st, and now we have 5 different bottles because we love them so much. It's one of my favorites, and I wish I could find the rye. 🥃
Having a dram of mine right now. Love this bottle. It taste like my moms banana bread. Oily, banana, molasses, and brown sugar. The proof point was rough at the neck. Had it opened for around a year now and it really gets better after its had so.e breathing time.
Maybe we'll start seeing a few more of these in MN. I remember watching this video a couple weeks ago thinking, "you lucky SOB!" I finally found my first bottle today randomly walking into a local store. Can't wait to give it a try tonight.
@@TheBourbonNote It's pretty good. Happy I got one. It's not quite worth the price I paid ($100 store pick), but still happy to have tried it. I'd be happier if the price were more in line with ECBP, around $75 - $80. This bottle is Warehouse H, Floor 2 and comes in at 125.8 proof.
I've drank two of these so far this year. Loved them both. I think i have 4 or 5 more waiting that I can't wait to get into. Everyone complains about these drinking to hot. But i don't think they drink any hotter than any other barrel proof. I've had friend over and blinded these against Stagg Batches 18 and 19 a bunch of times and nobody has picked stagg ahead of the OF yet.
Great review guys! i was happy to see you both review this and i cant wait to get my hands on a bottle. hoping some bottles make their way down up to Canada as i am aslo a brown foreman truffle pig lol
I picked up one of these at total wine in January. I find these to be good but I prefer the Elijah Craig barrel proofs. Did you see the news about a 1924 release from Old Forester? Sounds like it might be a year out but it is interesting.
My experience with Old Forester SBBS bourbon has been OK. I find that the few I've had drink pretty hot and I love high proof stuff. I have a bottle of Old Forester SBBS rye that I really need to try.
Got a bottle of this a few weeks ago and didn't care for it at all. I was shocked because my favorites are higher proof (OF 1920 and JD barrel strength rye are tops), so the proof wasn't the problem. Just didn't care for the flavor. May have just been my tastebuds that day. I'll go back at it again soon.
I found this bottle, to me it’s HOT. It was hard to really enjoy when I first opened the bottle. I need to revisit it at some point. I’m not a proof hound I just like good bourbon regardless of the proof if it’s good it’s good.
Same here. I got Warehouse 1, Floor 8 at 133.5 proof at a convenience store price of $139 (secondary market?) - South TX Bourbon Society pick. I love Old Forester 1920 and 1920 and also am okay with their Statesman and Bib 1897 and 1870 Original. But this particular barrel strength is very hot and alcohol forward. I too am hoping the bottle will open over time. And in the meantime, I can add some distilled or sparkling water to tone it down a bit. Heat aside, the flavor of a great Old Forester is definitely there.
I got woodmans pick, 128.3 pick and I absolutely love it. It is a bit hot but the nose is incredible and the heat wasn’t too much for me to not enjoy it. To me it’s a better 1920
Shopping for my monthly bottle today, and came across two bottles i want. This old forester and or EH Taylor both for $89, which would you choose? I never had either before
That's a tough call. Both are a bit overpriced, but also hard to find. They're both great bourbons, but going strictly on taste the Old Forester is a better onefan boy! (Ben)....but, I'm an old forester fanboy!
It is allocated, you never find them. I wish you guys or some one could talk about what's actually in the bottle. Do they just not provide that info? How Old is it, what is the mash bill, is it the "juice" from .... which old forester product? 1920? 1910? 1897? What is it? Perhaps some education on old forester in general. Anyways, thanks guys, love the like and subscribe thing that's hillarious
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately, all the info they give on the bottle, besides the proof, is which warehouse it was aged in, and which floor. I wish they had more info on these, too!
Great review guys . There will be one of these in the big bottle giveaway / fundraiser on Friday night . Cheers 🥃 Also Blanton's is the best low proof bourbon , duh ! 😂

Awesome!!!
Just found one of these in a Publix Liquors of all places, on my birthday, 85$, 130proof. Love it, fav bottle so far.
Great price!

That's a great score!!!

I'm definitely on the lookout for more!
I am always on the hunt for this. I have the SB rye and it is fantastic.
MGM in Spring Park/Mound area had some as of yesterday.
Great review, gentlemen! New sub 🥃
Thanks! I ( Ben) just subbed back! I can tell from the thumbnails, I'm going to really like your channel🤣

One of the best bottles on the market!
I'm a big fan of OF. Would love to find one of these! Great review fellas. Cheers
Thanks!

I believe it! I've heard about them drinking hot too. It's barrel proof...of course it's hot!
I just grabbed a store pick of this up in Massachusetts. They had a couple bottles left still.
Hope you enjoy it!
I found an old forester sbbs back in January at mgm in Minnetonka. It’s super delicious!
That's probably rhea same one. It's excellent!

Nice to know I'm not the only one 🤣
I, as well, am a Brown Forman Truffle Pig! Love the review.
Always nice to know I'm not the only truffle pig out there 🤣

I can't wait for that!
Just found one at HyVee in Waterloo. They had a bunch but was $97 with tax. Have not tried it yet.
These are great!

Just pick one up in Charleston SC for 130.8 proof. Tasting this eve
It's a great pour!
Can’t stand bananas so normally stay away from OF and Jack. Picked up a bottle of this to try. Hoping the other flavors are prominent
Let us know what you think!
Got old forester sbbs and an EC sbbp at a drop one month ago .. they are both great but I think the OF is better ..
I agree. If I had to choose between the two, I think I'd go with the Old Forester .
If these had batch names like Elijah Craig's, every YTer would be pumping them up and these would be allocated.
Yeah, they're pretty tough to find the way it is!

Are you in Minnesota?
No, Texas
@@TheBourbonNote
Bummer! The store I got that one from had like 5 of them on the shelf today. They must be keeping them in the back and putting a few out at a time.
I finally found one, $89.99 in New Jersey.
The bottle of Birthday Bourbon I had was a butterscotch bomb.
Great find!
Great review guys . There will be one of these in the big bottle giveaway / fundraiser on Friday night . Cheers 🥃
Also Blanton's is the best low proof bourbon , duh ! 😂
Well, everybody knows that!
To me it's a artificial banana laffy taffy high proof but not to hot so good
Hancock's
The birthday, presidents etc are massively overrated.
